""As the Government of the United States... is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion -- as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity of Musselmen -- and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
This document was endorsed by Secretary of State Timothy Pickering and President John Adams. It was then sent to the Senate for ratification; the vote was unanimous. It is worth pointing out that although this was the 339th time a recorded vote had been required by the Senate, it was only the third unanimous vote in the Senate's history. There is no record of debate or dissent. The text of the treaty was printed in full in the Philadelphia Gazette and in two New York papers, but there were no screams of outrage, as one might expect today."
Alexander Hamilton from the treaty of Tripoli.
I laughed most of the way through this episode it was very entertaining to see you guys just own the shit out of this caller
Hilarious segment! Ray in Colorado, please do your reading before calling in.
Hey, ROFL... I like Johnny.
He is the comic relief that is 180 out from Matt's merciless verbal killing.
This is a GREAT DUO..... this two !
Here in the U.S.A. the states that are the most religious are also the most poor, but the caller conveniently left that part out.
Although many collers deserve to be hung up on, I do love it when callers are left on long enough to see their argument be fully demolished.
Collars too
"I'm getting ready to own you, like a slave!" LMAO Matt wants all the smoke haha!
Just want to point out, those 2 commandments stealing and murder, are illegal in every country.
It defo not a christiam thing
All Matt needed to do was tell the caller to watch videos of "Black Friday" to prove his point about "Keeping up with the Joneses"
Conversing with someone confident in their ability to make specious assertions is one of the most depressingly hilarious interactions in the modern world.
Astrology nuts do it too. Tell them Mars is a rusty, dusty, frozen desert with one-third the area of Earth and 11 percent its mass. The astrology nuts will say, "but everything is connected, so it's not important what Mars is ..."
One of the most important reasons the founders wanted to separate from England was because the King of England was also the head of the Church of England and the founders didn’t want to be told by a king which religion to follow. This is literally the entire reason we are not a Christian country, we are a secular country who just happens to have the biggest GDP of any country. This caller’s entire argument is shredded by this one fact.
Wow, Matt was in fire!! Easily in top 3 "best rebuttal"
Great job guys and I do love the hat
This is the most epic takedown ever!
This was a good one :)
I always find it so fascinating that someone can call in believing that the ten commandments are rules directly from their god and then not know them. I mean, the most powerful thing ever tells you clear guidelines for what is right and wrong and you jsut don't bother to learn them?
Bravo Matt & Johnny!!!!
Bet you $10 the caller immediately went to study the 10 commandments after the call 🤣
You will lose, the caller is a super lazy person, isn't that obvious.
@@murali-alive lol perhaps you’re right
Chalk this up to a classic segment!
I like the “if my engine is better than your engine” argument. Let’s forget Non-Christian Japan makes the best engines
I'm now officially a fan of Matt
I love how these callers are so ill-informed on their own book. 😆
Ray, your ideas are bad and you should feel bad. I love it.
If you’re ever looking up the definition of ‘beat down’...just reference this video.
To tag on to what Matt said about the Ten Commandments, most Christians not only don't know what the first commandment, the second commandment, etc., say, they also don't know that the first version where those come from was done away with when supposed-Moses supposedly broke the supposed tablets. The second version he supposedly carved to replace them is only vaguely like the first version and is mostly about observing different feast days.
i always ask a "believer" of the bible, "what are the 10 commandments". so far not a single person i know in my life has been able to answer it correctly off the top of their head.
so i always follow that up with "how seriously do you take your religion if you have no idea what the 10 main rules are to follow"?
The picture book thing was just perfect
This was, among a great selection, one of Matt's best moments here. Just my opinion though...
Well, Matt murdered that argument.
What a spanking!
Caller: ‘You can’t say that in a public forum’.
I’m fairly certain that a call in show thats free to watch on the internet can be called a public forum.
Atheism saved my life
Thank god for that. Live well.
AMEN
Let me guess, blood transfusion?
I want to see a compilation of Matt just giving it to people!
there is one about 4 hours long but it's a little older now. would love to see a new one now.
Man! Matt schooled him!
Johnny P is just so wonderful!!! a love him
and furthermore... both "Do not murder" and "Do not steal" were laws in many ancient codes that predate the Ten Commandments of the Bible. So, um yeah, the entire idea of those laws "coming from the Bible" is wrong
“A lot of job places…” was a really neat try.
Matt is the “Kung Fu Grandmaster” of ACA.
The hats are awesome btw!
Can we say "epic slapdown"?
Thanks matt.
“Own you like a slave “, quality!
This was a fun one to watch.
Ray is from the Mile High state. I think he is high AF
Loving the hats.
"You're an idiot" Say it again Matt! "You're an idiot" ahahahaha! Priceless muh dude!
Actually 1st commandment or better yet, directive:
“knowledge is the forbidden fruit.”
Actually adultery is a crime in many states.
Yea...but state laws have nothing to do with the US.
That is a bad faith argument you are making.
@Cpl Hicks 5 where it is a felony, 17 where it is a misdemeanor...and zero of them enforce that law to begin with.
As they know if they do they get sued, the case goes before SCOTUS and their law gets struck down as unconstitutional.
That is a hornets nest no one wants to stirr these days 😏
@@samfetter2968 Do you not realise how ridicolous and stupid it is?
@@KristerAndersson-nc8zo depending on what you mean by that i do or do not...so what do you mean by that?
@@samfetter2968 Many of your states actually have laws that tells consenting adults whom they cannot have sex with. I find that both ridicolous and stupid, don´t you?
Matt, good job on this.... LOL
Matt, I absolutely love you!
LMAO. This was great
We've all been there, a conversation with a stead fast willing to die for what they believe in believer, that doesn't read the book or books that is the foundation for the belief.
Frustrating and yet hilarious.
I was talking to a catholic who said, "I think the KJV bible is the true interpretation and the only one you need"
I had to point out that the KJ version is the protestant version.
Il never forget the look of "OH 💩" on his face. 😂😂🤣
Look, I'm not ashamed to admit I clicked on this clip because of the hats.
Religious countries seem to have the highest occurrence of poverty, crime and incarceration. Secular countries have the highest cases of individual freedom and happiness. Simple verifiable facts, goodbye, Ray
There is a bunch of white males reunited for a very important ceremony after creating a very important document; at the end, one of them reads at loud: "We the people, in order to..." etc.
In the back, away from all the commotion, stand a woman, a native of the land, and a black fellow. She: "I don't see any woman...". Native: "They took my land and killed my people...". Black man: "They took me away from my land, and I still got chains in my neck..." And then we have Ray.
Hi GDP? Yeah! Go religion 😂 jk
Loving Johnny P. Angel more and more every time I see him. More Johnny.
Yes. He's smart, not intimidated by Matt, and he's funny!
hahaha this was the funniest and worst argument i've seen in the 1000 years i've been watching the show
5:19 The moment Ray realizes his point is defeated lol
These callers remind me why I am not a Christian.
Keep the Sabbath was a law back in the 80s, ALL of the Stores were closed on SUNDAY
Got here late, what's up with the cowboy hats?
Wow! The commandments and laws both have don't steal and don't kill! How crazy! Who would've ever thought that people would think killing and stealing are bad and include them in nearly every legal or moral code ever created?
