The overhang is real for some buildings. There were some places that taxed your house for how big the plot size was, but not total size, so clever owners would build the smallest first floor possible and then bulge out second floors.
This is so flippin cool I can’t wait to see it finished!
finally more squarespace content!
If you make another building with the same style of shingles, it may be worth cutting the strips for the shingles twice as tall as you need and then notching the width of each shingle out of half of the strip (the way asphalt shingles look). Then you can place the shingles a row at a time starting from the bottom. If you wanted to make it look more random, you could then fit additional single shingles into the roof.
That's a lot of good detail. Looking forward to the finished product.
Really cool.
Remember that the chimney will need to take up floor space INSIDE the house, not just on the exterior.
I love how the walls are angled outwards. It gives is a great look.
Great build and video. Love the paint too. I’m sculpting to 3D print my Mordheim and promote it on my UA-cam channel.
This scratch-build is coming together so beautifully!
Absolutely fantastic. Can't believe how good this looks. Love how you got the central beam bent to give that older look to the building Dana. Noice!
Can’t wait to see this build painted! 😊
Root beer cameo. Best drink ever
Very cool
I love shingles choice and the periodic gaps give the roof a lot of character
I really like the way it flares out as it goes up. The system you used for the shingles is genius. I think I'll stick with foam shingles for now (if only because I have a precut stash of a few thousands) but I'm definitely trying that at some point.
Love these terrain videos. Great work Dana!
looks great! You're a good artist!
MORDHEIM? Of course I'll watch this video and subscribe for more. :)
Location of chimney in building tells what kind of environment the building is located. For example where I am from, chimney would be in middle of building, since wasting any heat in winter would be not only stupid, but possibly fatal error. But in warmer environments chimney could provide uncomfortable lot heat, so adding them partially outside of building makes them produce less heat inside of building.
But also size of building tells what kind of environment the building is located: in cold environment you do not want to have big building since it is hard to keep warm. But having two stores is okay, since heat goes up - one fireplace/chimney heats both floors as well as just one floor.
Amazing content as always, Dana! I'm curious:
What is your methodology for foraging foam? I find that the foam I dig up is often more sturdy than the kind of foam I find growing on trees in my local forest. What is your experience?
Magnificent work! I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished building.
ah excellent! you've made my house just in time.
i will be moving in two weeks from now please install a door by then ok thank you.
first and last months rent will be supplied in little goblin hoard items.
The result is absolutely wonderful! Great tips in this video 👏👏👏
i realize now how my mostly sci-fi preference has deprived me of the simple joys of building stuff out of wood. i might have to expand into fantasy one of these days...
I've been wondering about this for a while now... What does foam-core music sound like?
It looked amazing in the first video, but here I am amazed of the work you did, I can't wait for the next video!
What a brilliant idea making a multi functional piece! And the patience you have to make each individual stone and tile. Wow! Well done, my dear.
This is coming together so well. Awesome work and such patience!!!
Great work.
Nice process.
Happy Modelling 👍
I love how this is turning into a 3..4....5 part series. It's been so cool to see it go up!
I'm really enjoying seeing this come together!!
this is so peaeful to watch
Almost 100k!
Loving this series, can't wait to see the next installment!
Try the white foam core. Much easier to remove the paper
the corrugated shingles are amazing!
Great works, love the whimsical yet dark look you got. Totally expect a coven of witches in there
I tempted to do one of these as just an art piece
looks awesome Dana, well done!
looks so cool! Well done!
Looking amazing!
Nice work
Well done 👍
This is looking wonderful Dana, Beautiful work! can't wait how you finish the roof, that looks like so much work i bet it's gonna look amazing when finished.
🔥🤘❤️
8:21 MY MOM!
Sweet build! Everything doesnt have to be perfect, just get in there and do it! Very nice Dana! Thx.
I started a big new mordheim building this week and I'm excited to borrow some additions from this build for the next steps!
Wow, these kind of projects takes some serious dedication. Well done! Can't wait to see the end result 🙂
I really enjoyed seeing the roof take shape there. That is an excellent process!
Woohoo! 🙌
Love the flaring walls and sagged roof choices. It really gives that fantasy setting vibe as it's not quite 'right' to be real.
There were absolutely historical wattle and daub houses with outward leaning walls and sagging roofs also existed, as old roofs usually start to sag without proper upkeep.
Floor joists run in the same direction in between floors. It’s nbd, but it through my builder brain off.
