Wow, perfect timing for this video, I just bought a St. Croix Legend Elite rod from you and I got a box of JDM baits with it, one of the lures in the box looks allot like the lure you showed how to rig and fish. I had no clue until I watched this video how to rig it but now I am gathering the right tackle and gear to fish it at my local lake. Thanks Kenta for the valuable information and thank you Hook Up Tackle for the quick delivery of my rod and package.

Great info! Last fall I order some Sakamata shad from you and I swear by them. Always been a Zoom guy but I up my game with them. I destroyed the small mouth at table rock lake on the smaller size!

For the 5 inch bull flat, he mentioned using a lighter weight keel hook (that 3/8 was too heavy), so what weight does he consider lighter - 1/4oz ...or even lighter?
the Japanese anglers excel at thinking outside the box - are there more bass lakes there than Biwa? I've seen videos of small rivers as well, but don't know much about Japan fishing except from UA-cam.
Highly doubt you need this reply a year later … but he’s saying narrow gap vs EWG. The specific brand recommended was Ryugi Limit in 5/0 for the 3.5” size. I’ve used 6/0 for 4” and I think 2/0 in the 2.5”

He uses a 7/0 Ryugi for the Bull Flat. An 8/0 owner beast also works on the big one.
