It have some secure bootloader I guess
twrp doesnt have a s7 snapdragon option. Does that mean this method cannot be used on those devices?

Thanks, using your method, I have rooted my S7 EDGE SM-G9350 8.0. Success. This is a mobile phone released in mainland China.
But accordingly, after rooting, it doesn't feel as smooth as before.
Rooting got nothing to do with your performance
Rooting just gives you admin rights

Yes it will do factory reset and make it root so u need to do backup first

No. You need to unlock the bootloader first
