The Peoples History of Abenaki Recognition

In this video we record Jeff Benay, an advocate for Abenaki rights in Vermont for over 40 years. Jeff and Julie Benay were filmed at the Koasek of Koas Tribal Gardens in West Braintree Vermont. Recently Jeff authored an article entitled,"A Journey to State Recognition: The Vermont Abenaki 1976-2024." He has worked with all the state governor's since 1976 and continues to serve on the Vermont Commission on Native American Affairs. He remembers some very important details that make this true story a remarkable and valuable tool to understand a culture and nation that exists today. Thank-you for your story Jeff Benay!!
