Was taught the chain stitch as a boy, though for a different purpose: Swedish Furling the rig on a Sunfish. Same knot, just wrapped around the sail and sticks. A very useful hitch knot. Use it at the end of a small control line, tied back on itself to form a more easily pulled loop.

Troy quite feisty in this one, especially while working on the outboard. Pascale scores major bonus points for being such a good sport :)

I Love the diving dog footage and yes, Staffies are incredibly tenacious.
A mechanic mate who is now retired has owned several over our long friendship and they are the most incredibly placid and phlegmatic breed of dog.
My mates lineage of Staffies spent much of their time around mechanical workshops and I still recall that in the late 1970's the first one used to love wrestling with a bit of rag hanging from an old 'Hills Hoist' (tm) rotary clothes line.
You could rotate the old hoist with the dog dangling from the rag and he would happily growl to himself like some sort of hairy ornament on a carousel as he whirled around.
I recall an occasion when Staffie one was having a bit of a spin on the hoist and whoever was doing the spinning got it rotating so fast the dog was basically horizontal to the ground with the hoist raised to it's maximum height.
Staffie one became increasingly excited at this interesting variation to the theme to an extent that he eventually 'barked for sheer joy'.
The small group of spectators among whom I was one watched in stunned amazement as the dog disappeared over the top of a five foot high corrugated iron boundary fence while doing a spectacular roll that would have been the envy of Olympic pole vaulters.
Moments later he came belting in the gate at full speed and renewed his attack on the rag completely unharmed and with undiminished enthusiasm as though such events were merely an enjoyable daily interlude!

Thanks very much for that generous gift of support. We have recieved it and it makes such a huge difference to our ability to keep bringing everybody our story and hopefully to inspire a few people as well. We have quite a few people in difficulty, acting as carers or with disability that can't spare anything to fund our show but write often to say they love it all the same so I want to say thanks on their behalf as well. Your support is helping in ways not immediately obvious.

Hi again Guys!!! Troy the Blades of the wind generator have a Saw tooth tape on the mid span to outer tip to give them a form of Boundary Layer which will make the blade more Aerodynamically better this type of Aerofoil comes from the Sailplane world I first saw it used on a German built Sailplane in 1986, Schempp-Hirth Discus Sailplane it will make the Aerofoil be more efficient.

Great Way to cook very fresh fish with the lime juice methode, if you have Ginger on Bord ad a 1/3 of a tea Spoon
(even dryed and powdered one will do) to your mix, also the rubbed-off parts of the lime and it´s filets will improf your result.
Also nice fresh Chillies and a dash of Balsamico vinegar and or diced pineapple.
And than all you need is some form of onbord baked french bread. Bon Appétit.

Awesome as always. Never heard of that breed of dog but looks like its a tough, fun little rascal. Really enjoyed your friend sharing his new boat. The sale work you guys did was interesting as well as the rope washing and cleaning the spark plug on that Yamaha.
One thing I've learned from watching all your episodes is just how much the people of the United States and Australia have in common. It amazes me the many terms and phrases that are the same as well as a lot of products and methods and they way things are approached. Cheers to the you guys in Australia from your friends in the USA!!!

Your American staffy is longer in the leg and gets grouped in with Pitbulls so may have a reputation problem.
We get on famously with Americans and that's probably why- so many commonalities. Our slang causes a few odd looks though:)

)troy needs a hug, his self deprecating humor bleed over negatively onto his mate(... Troy, i've enjoyed your tips, tricks and can do attitude, you do seem worthy of her adoration, and her inexperience, journey, charmingly offsets your skills. It's a more complete picture in one show.... some are both experienced, some are neither experienced, yalls channel offers both perspectives, and she's seems like a really cool person, her shiny attitude has yet to be jaded, but even if it did get bent, she seems to have the strength to endure it.....
it's just hard seeing that... the barbs are a dark place inside the person pushing out to others.

Many years ago I found myself in the Tobago Cays, Southern Caribbean, With the predecessor to your wind turbine (Air403) when I had a circuit board failure like yours. One of the Southwest Windpower techs talked me through via sat phone clipping the offending component off the board and it was back in business rectifying but not self regulating until we got caught up with the replacement board. Best customer service I ever got in the marine biz, even if he swore me to secrecy at the time! BTW, www.primuswindpower.com is the new incarnation of the company and seem to be keeping the tradition going along with their older units from the Air X forward.

I use the identical hot knife for cutting rope being a commercial lobsterman....It will last a long time but don't make the mistake i did and leave the trigger on for too long of a period, allow it to cool....I had my son doing the cutting, while i was pulling the rope out to the desired length....We had quite the quick operation going, but ending up burning out the switch in the tool...I believe when they first came out they were designed for cutting styrofoam....They have some cheaper imitations but i have always bought the good one from Germany.

The textured edge on the turbine blade distributes the air along the length of the blade more evenly and acts to lower the volume of air being pushed to the tip of the blade, this lowers the tip airspeed and reduces noise. Whale tubercules have a similar effect, which is where the idea originally came from.

Did I enjoy the video? HECK YEAH! I loved what he said about not doing it all over again as far as time went. I I think about this often when looking to purchase a boat I don't mind a few projects but I don't want to slave away two years of my life to get a better deal. If I was 30, maybe. But time is more precious to me when you've been around the sun as many time as I have! Hey Troy...I use the chain method on my webbing to store in my backpack when on a climbing expedition or when we're out bushwhacking and need some hand line to get us down someplace instead of scrambling around and wasting time and effort. I also use it for my long extension cords! Great vid as always and the wind generator BLEW MY MIND!!! I didn't expect it to be "that" different. Please let us know how the sails turn out after you get them back up! PEACE OUT! Ü

Very informative and entertaining episode. I really like the way you adjusted the gap on the spark plug, (who needs a store bought spacer). The rope trick is cool also, and a lot of people in the USA, especially contractors use this to keep electrical extension cords from tangling up and easier to roll out to get ready for work the next day. Great video. I enjoyed the rope trick. I once washed a halyard and a staysail sheet together in our washing machine. After dealing with my wife's utter astonishment
that I would use the washing machine for that, I pulled out a mess of rope tangled into a Gordian knot. Well, almost. It took quite a while to sort out. The rest of the lines were washed at a laundromat and eventually coiled properly. Next time, they'll be chained, as demonstrated. Thanks for all the great info.

Ditto for me with rock climbing gear. Tangled top loaders can be a disaster - once the rope gets jammed under the agitator base it's ugly.
Now that I have a front loader I'm tempted to dump 50m of rope in without chaining it purely to see what happens :)

Another wonderful video. There's always so much that people can learn from the things you present. I had to smile about chaining the rope..my grandfather was a sea captain and my father, and his four brothers, all took turns sailing with their father as they came of age..all of us grandkids learned to chain ropes. We thought it quite cool to undo the end and make the chain magically 'disappear'.
One other bit of nostalgia for me, I grew up in small town on Long Island Sound, (NY) where, Rube and Irma Goldberg had a summer home. As children, we loved Mr. Goldberg's cartoon drawings which he would share when we'd visit him in his studio. Amazing how a 'Rube Goldbergesque' invention or way of accomplishing some task, entered into the lexicon and is known around the world.
Good luck with the repairs and rehabilitations.

...and spare impeller and several shear pins! I would also carry a spare diaphragm for the carb/fuel pump.

LMAO @ Pascale getting LOST in that big Cat! COOL Trick with the rope chain. VERY Cool. WOW! Those windgen blades ARE Super! I could barely hear them hissing a little! Some of the other channels have blades off a UH-1 Iroquois Helicopter, I think. Holy Shit! What a Difference! You'll probably be catching fish as fast as you can reel them In, now, no Racket to scare them,lol...

It isn't Rube Goldman, it is Rube Goldberg en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg Even Troy gets it wrong every once in awhile. Seriously brilliant video. I learn something every time I watch, but it sneaks up on me because I'm so well entertained! thank you both.
