Last year I picked up a 4x8x12 solid cement block with the snowblower it went through the auger and made it into the impeller. The hydraulic motor that rotates the impeller drum took the brunt of the impact and it snapped the shaft off. It was the end of the season when it happened so I just parked the blower. Every spring I like to use the blower to get rid of all the banks in my yard so there is less snow melt runoff so it was time to fix the motor. The new motor cost $580 and was a pain to install due to the fact that two bolts were behind
the drum then I serviced the rest of the blower, 13 grease fittings, 2 gear boxes to check oil levels and 2 roller chains to lubricate. All in all it took around two hours to get the blower ready for use.

you bet ya. I broke the jaw off a cheaper vise after a year or two but my grandfather always did say, “you could break the horn off an anvil.”

I enjoyed your video. I have a 1308 blower without the rotating drum but still dual auger. I'm in New Brunswick and it looks like we have similar amounts of snow. We received over 15' last winter.

what size tractor do you run the blower with? The 6430 handles it well but it is easy to overload it and quickly bog down the engine. I use to run mine on the front but it seems to have better power running of the rear pto.

I find it weird that the shaft of the hydraulic motor broke. I would have thought that a shear pin would have broke first when the snow blower ate the cement block.

I would have preferred it broke a shear pin. I have broke a few of them in the past and they are a lot cheaper.

Tb what’s the purpose of the dual chute system, does the side vent have less clogging in heavier snow than the snorkel chute? Very cool to see in action.

The side discharge will throw snow twice as far and seems to have less drag on the tractors power.
