It's still sorta ironic if Edelgard and Byleth would have children the chances of them developing a major crest of Seiros is really high where Edelgard was born with it and Byleth has it in his bloodline from Rhea (and maybe Jeralt, but I don't think that's how it works). Well, who ever was behind Rhea in both voice and design deserves a couple bonuses. I love this character... once I get past the fact that you are the vessel for her mother, who in order to give birth to you, created your mother in order to see her mother again. Rhea is your... grand mother and technically your daughter.
And since Byleth's mom was basically a pseudo-clone of her mom Sothis, she's also technically either your cousin or your biological aunt XD.

The "It was comforting" choice in the A support is one of my favorite dialogue choices in the entire game. One of the few times that the game lets you get weird. Most of the time, you are forced to refuse flirting (i.e Manuela or Dorothea) or actively scold it (in the case of Sylvain or Lorenz). The fact that Rhea gets weird and you're allowed to like it in-game is amazing and I wish Byleth could have more choices like that. It just makes for a more interesting character and less of a cardboard cutout. It's one of the things that makes Dragon Age Origins so much more immersive.

@@Fallendown-pq1ot And that is perfectly okay. The reason I like it is not for the contents of the conversation itself or how I see Rhea. It's more for the choice being available. You're given a positive (it was comforting), negative (please don't do that again) and neutral (not at all) choice to something startling and weird, which is not always the case in this game. A lot of times I feel the dialogue choices in the game are two versions of the same thing. But this one allows you brief control over how a character feels about something, which is what should have been done more if they wanted Byleth to be more avatar-like.
That's kinda why I mention the game "Dragon Age Origins" in my original post, because that game let's you go down so many different emotional paths with your character. It truly feels like you have a lot of control over their relationships with the party and others.
People trying to figure out ways to argue how this isn't weird/incest meanwhile here I am realising that this is a fantasy world in the midle ages. Back in those days incest was so common (especilly among the upper class) that I'd argue Rhea and Byleth marrying is actually one of the least unrealistic things in this game lmao.
That's actually a misconception, it wasn't until the Church lost power after the Middle Ages that their anti-incest laws (Pretty harsh and constant issues for the English monarchy for some forsaken reason) started to get ignored, primarily by the Habsburgs.
The incest is still realistic, given the Church of Sothis ended up promoting more or less the same amount of incest that similar bloodline focused religions of the ancient world, just in a different era or cultural region.

that's assuming Reha made your mother through traditional means, she could of just "adopted" some poor mothers child and did magic surgery to put the remains of her mother in her then her child, and blood transfusion doesn't make you related to the donator.

When I was a kid, me and my best friend became blood brothers, but unless he knocks up my GF, then his DNA isn't going to be in my child. Same goes for carrying Sothis. Sothis was not awake until the start of the game, and there's no reason to believe a transplanted creststone would be any more capable of altering a person's DNA than a pacemaker could. She may have created Byleth's mother, but they would still only be related if she was created by conventional means via childbirth, or some kind of artificial equivalent using Rhea's own body for the base. She definitely is connected to Byleth spiritually and magically, but there's no evidence that this is actual incest, despite everyone making stupid Alabama jokes in the comments.

From how I understand, the Agarthans were simply more advanced than the followers of Sothis, which is how they managed to kill her the first time around. I think it’s implied that Rhea has been suppressing the people of Fodlan from advancing in technology so that no one does end up going against the church and in turn Sothis.

I was hoping it would explain how Rhea lived after that last cutscene, cause when I played the Church route I only had C support with Rhea, and I ended up marrying Dorothea. After seeing that last cutscene, I thought Rhea had died in your arms. I don't remember her getting an epilogue card in my credits as well, so I was sure she had died.

How is Rhea and Byleth blood related? I played the church route but it never really says that his mom is related to Rhea.
There's a few people who claimed they're not, and I'm inclined to believe them. Through the crest stones (which are essentially the hearts of beings like Sothis and Rhea) they share a magical link, since the one in Byleth comes from Sothis, who is Rhea's mom, but I don't think Rhea actually had any direct children. Maybe she's thought of a few sisters from the church as her daughters, such as Byleth's mom but I haven't seen anything on any of the paths that actually suggest a blood relation to any of them.

By technicality you become Sothis, there for sorta becoming her Mom. Also by using the heart of sothis Rhea kept you alive (Byleth I mean), I think I can’t really remember details.
Her blood is literally in Jeralt and in Byleth's mother
It’s mostly because of Rhea creating Sitri(Byleth’s mom) with her own blood which technically would make you blood related. Then again Rhea is just her creator, I think it just depends on whether you believe that “If someone created a person, but not biologically, would you consider them to be their parent or separate it into just creator”. Because there’s some characters in media that created life and is considered to be their parent, like for an example: Professor Utonium is the creator of the Power Puff Girls and he himself considered himself to be their father as they do for him. This is what I can say is what separate how people see this relationship and honestly that’s okay, I may see Rhea as Sitri’s mom which means I see her as Byleth’s grandmother, but if someone else doesn’t see that way, then it’s perfectly okay 👌
What I do not understand about the church route is why did Nemesis not wake up while Rhea goes bersek in comparison to the Golden Deer route ...
I know it was to make the routs different but the predeceasing events were the same so I wonder about what causes the difference ....

And as I said I understand the design point of view of having the route endings different ... but it would have veen nice if they at least gave a reason for the difference since the shambala mission is the same including the cut scene for both routes .... the one criticism i have for the routes.
@Gabriel Thesken I don't think it's that Dimitri doesn't care. I think the reason he never goes after the Agarthans is because he has no idea they exist. In his path, while I'm pretty sure he realizes that Edelgard wasn't at fault, he doesn't ever realize that it was the work of a completely different group. The only thing he realizes by the end is that there's a distinct possibility that his step mother, AKA Edelgard's birth mother, may have caused the Tradgedy of Duscur by having his father killed in an attempt to get away from him.

She's already Byleth's grandmother through Sitri. But if you think about it, the act of taking blood of a dragon will make a person basically said dragon's child; so technically, Jeralt is also Rhea's child (like the other members of the church.). So yeah, Rhea is your grandmama from both sides of the family.

I don't buy into that. Consider real world applications; when we do blood transfusions for medical purposes (As Rhea claims she had saved Jeralt through). Are you suddenly family to the person whoms blood was donated to you? Do you share any familial bonds because of a procedure?
Rhea's blood is unique as with all nabateans. When mortals are given dosage, they are healed and empowered by it. You may be connected to Rhea from said blood, but you are not their child, nor offspring. Sitri; Byleth's mother was a sickly woman who came into Rhea's care who became part of Rhea's experiments to try and resurrect her mother through a mortal vessel. Rhea treated Sitri like her own child but I always found that to be more of trying to prepare for the familial return of Sothis. Each experiment had failed and Byleth's mother sought to save Byleth (Who was bound to be stillborn if he/she didn't get intervention).
Rhea's only bond to Byleth is more like.. a nurse or at worst; a Wet nurse at that. She helped save Byleth's life, and their only connection is her blood that empowers the crest of flames. Rhea is a dragon, Byleth is a human.

-Sitri was an artificial vessel made by Rhea to revive Sothis, making Rhea her ‘mother’ in the same way that Victor Frankenstein is the monster’s ‘father.’
-Jeralt was given a blood transfusion which gave him the crest of Seiros, and an extended lifespan. In no way does this make him related to Rhea, he just got some perks from her blood.
-Our main man Byleth was infused with Sothis’s crest stone and eventually merged souls with Sothis, which honestly means nothing just that his hair turned green. He did not become a Nabatean.

Rhea is basically your Aunt after examining all evidences:
-Byleth's mom is a clone of her and supposedly she was already a lady when Rhea made her which means it's more her sister than her daughter (I doubt Jeralt would have banged the Archbishop's daughter in all seriousness)
-Sothis gave you her soul to keep on living, that doesn't make Byleth a grandmother or anything but an entity of it's own
So is this Incest? Yes it is but pretty much like marrying your cousin (Flayn is indeed Byleth's cousin though) given the circumstances since both Byleth and Rhea can live for a very long time.

Byleth aids Rhea in moving on from the pain of her mother's death. Accepting a new future for herself. If they fall in love, it comes without warning the kinship they shared upon meeting. How quickly his/her presence eases Rhea to seek a new life. Rather than try to restore what was taken from her.

I think its Black Eagles (Church Route) only. And make sure you support her BEFORE you head to the Holy Tomb. You can't support her after the time skip. So yeah.

This is all well and nice, but I still can’t get over the fact that she attempted to have our consciousness overwritten by a crest stone that was just jammed next to our heart.

Rhea seemed to think Byleth was actually an amnesiac Sothis all along, and even the attempt with the throne at the Holy Tomb was more a brainstorming hunch, as Rhea mentions once hearing Sothis' voice near the throne.

Rhea and Byleth are not related in any sense!
1) Byleth's mother is not Rhea's "biological daughter", she was just a Puppet for Sothis crest stone in order to be revived. The experiment was a failure because the lack of seiros Blood (there is no evidence that Citri had the crest of seiros of something) and pheraps the lack of Love (?)
2) Jeralt bears the crest of seiros because a blood trasfusion. Think about blood donators: if you receive blood from another person (external of your own family of course) you will not be going to be related in any case.
3) Sothis admits that she would never take control of Byleth's body. When she disappers she fuses her soul with Byleth's, but he does not acquire omniscence or something (think about Jesus christ as a person and at same time a part of god, but not God himself).

Basically, you have to get your support built with her very quickly. The easiest way is to have her train you every time you explore the monastery as well as giving her the gifts she likes. Besides the owl feathers that everyone likes, a few of the ones she prefers are the ancient coins and Goddess Statuette.

Byleth wasn't the one who gave birth to her, and the game makes it clear that they and Sothis are still separate entities (he himself even says so in his S-support with Flayn). I really don't understand the logic in this fandom sometimes...
