We will do it with the athletes I handle. Some of the exercises are similar to what we already do. Shark Tank is a staple. All of this is gold. I have questions though like when is the timing, frequency of these exercises in your regular training or fight camp that ties in with the other part of training. But I'm guess that's all secrets of the trade. Nevertheless, what you've shared is already gold. So it's easy to figure out when to insert these exercises in during a regular development program and fight camp.
Other factors that accompany these exercises would probably be rest and recovery and proper nutrition. Thank you very much for sharing. 🏆🏆🏆

Gabriel: I have a tip for you, to further improve your running routine. Make a point in really lifting your knees high up in every step. Over time that will help you to run more relaxed and faster in general, further it will likely positively reflect in your kicks by lowering the resistance you have to overcome. Btw. this form of interval training that you discribe is called Fartlek.
I'm now wondering if that couldn't be a great concept to use during basics training, like kicks and punches. Really fast and hard (80-90%) punches for a while, then slow down and reduce the energy, then go back to hard and fast.

In my first fight a few days ago me and my opponent ran out of gas in the last 2 rounds (we had both already fought another fight earlier in the day) and I had to really push to get that victory.
These will help a lot with preparing for the next fight so that even if I have to fight two or more times in a day, my opponents run out of gas first.
    Thanks a lot champ

The cardio I do is either: mountainbiking (verymuch like sprint interval training) or 2700m run for time. The 2700m I got from the military, where you have to run 2700m in 12minutes, which is 13,5km/h.
    I also love shark tanking.

I just stumbled across this video after years. The first time I seen it was in 2021 while in Australia with the marines. The only one I did was the soccer field runs but I was counting them wrong. I counted a whole rap around as 1 instead of the half 😂. I ended up doing this with 2 friends for a while we got to 10 and it was a killer definitely helped me though. I would hit the bag before as well for 30 mins and 15 min jump rope then I’d do the sprints on Tuesdays and Thursday’s and the other 3 days it was just 3 miles.

You can do band sprints without bands, just tell your training partner to lock their hands around your abdomen and to try and hold you back as much as they can. Then you just do your best to explosively sprint from one side of the gym to the other. Absolute killer of the legs and heart, and you have no excuses for not doing it since you don't need any equipment for it (other than a partner)

I love me some treadmill interval training. I use my curved manual treadmill almost everyday. Studies show they are 30% harder than normal treadmills and less prone to creating injuries. Mine is an Assault Fitness AirRunner, it's the best thing I've ever purchased. I've given up all other forms of running. I dare say my neighbours must think somebody is being tortured inside my house for all the crying out in pain I do when I'm on it. It's the most serious and effective form of cardio training I've ever come across.

Gabriel has been his own coach for the last 14 years, creates his own workouts, self motivates and pushes himself to his limit.
His brother Aaron has travelled the world with him to act as his main cornerman and has been one of his main training and sparring partners over the years. Canadian greats such as Josh Jauncey from Glory, Gabriel's youngest brother Jacob and many other talented Canadian fighters spar with Gabriel to get ready for fights. The fight community in Canada is strong and very supportive.
Craig McWilliams is a very talented pad holder and has been with Gabriel for his entire fight career.
Alin Halmagean from House of Champions in Ontario was very supportive and helpful to Gabriel. Alin is across the country and although Gabriel only had a few opportunities to go train there with him, Alin also travelled the world to corner and support Gabriel's career. Alin is worth a google if you do not know who he is - very talented dude for sure!
So many really great people always there to help Gabriel - but - he has and is 100% his own coach planning out everything for training / workouts / training camps etc....

@@atraingoat885 Well - this was the first time I have ever responded or sent an e-mail on any of Gabriel's media - Yowza - an event for me for sure! It just seemed like such a good question.
Don't get me wrong - Gabriel had some great coaching along the way when he was young, starting with me and although I had and have taught for almost 5 decades now - I have one skill that really stands out - which is to recognize there are people out there much better than me and I know when it is time to seek them out.
Fighting is one of those unique things in that you get in the ring with someone and if they hand you your ass on a platter it is pretty hard to come up with excuses why you lost.
Coach - the sun was in my eyes! Coach - my shoe laces came undone - etc......
Everyone suffers a bad judge's decision in their life - but I am talking about blatant examples of " oh my gosh - I just lost / got beat up / got knocked out kind of stuff.
There are coaches like that as well - really good coaches, so my greatest gift as a trainer is to know when a student has exceeded my abilities and it is time to move on to someone who is better than me.
I was a very average skilled ring fighter - not too great by any means. My interest has always been self-defence and although it is an unpopular belief with some martial arts practitioners I know - I personally believe that if we cannot get in the ring with an equally trained opponent and learn how to function where both are wearing big puffy gloves - there is just no way we are taking a knife off someone trying to stab us. I like to state things as "just my opinion and I could be wrong" - but I do not think so too much on this point.
I always love hearing someone tell me "but if they had to fight a street fighter"......... yeah - the street fighter picks on an average Joe where the ring fighter may have 5, 10, 15 years training and fighting the best guys on the planet...... what are you thinking???? Mr street fighter - go attack Mike Tyson and see how that goes for you!!! There are always exceptions of course as Mike Tyson used to get into street fights - but generally - street fighter skill level 1-4, trained fighter skill level 6-10 - let's see how that goes.
Anywhoooooo - a slight digression there, so moving right along.
All our kids have a very technical, clean, sharp, pretty fighting style and that is due to a friend of mine who they trained with when Gabriel was 12 - 15. They adopted his style. Marwan Abu Khadra has a club called Shogun Dojo in Smithers BC. Great sport kickboxing teacher!
Our kids trained 4 days a week at karate / kickboxing but always went out of house from our club twice a week to train at a Jui Jitsu club and an Aikido club to learn from others.
It was when Gabriel was around 15 he started training at a full contact kickboxing gym. Tell the truth I cannot remember exactly but I do not think he had his first amateur ring fight until he was 19 or 20. We live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia and all fight cards were modelled after K 1 so they of course wore 10 oz gloves, a mouthguard and a jock - but no headgear, shin pads or any other gear was allowed. Oh - Gabriel just walked in and let me know he was 20 for his first kickboxing fight.
Gabriel and his brother Aaron competed at a tournament when they were around 17 and 15 or so where there were around 40 competitors in the kickboxing division and they both fought numerous times to make it to the semi finals and finals where they squared off against two very talented twin brothers Brian and Alan Chou who had also been doing martial arts since they were 4-5 years.
Two wonderful fights ending in Gabriel winning the final match and they met the following year at the same tournament to compete again with the same results - but they all bonded and remain lifelong friends today.
They all formed this great group of really talented amateur fighters from 4 different clubs and they all got together to train on a regular basis for a decade. Back then every K 1 event saw our house full of these friends and the house was full of cheering and yelling support for their idols such as Masato, Andy Sower, Albert Kraus, Buakaw and all the other greats including Peter Aerts, Ray Seffo and the entire heavyweight division. There were many other greats I am not naming as there were so many on those cards.
No internet back then really - so Gabriel started self teaching from those fights and tried and learned the techniques from those super stars. It was an exciting time in the kickboxing world for sure!!!!!!
Lots of talent out there today - but that was a real beginning of what there is today.
When Gabriel was around 18 or so one of his friends bet him he could not go without any treats or unhealthy food for two weeks. Gabriel being Gabriel ended up doing a 2 year period where he would not have any treats of any kind. Cake, sweets, chocolate, candies, chips then it got to no crackers or anything that was not uber healthy. I thought that Gabriel would make a very good Monk with his will power. He has been that way since he was a young kid. Never - ever in a disrespectful manner, but if anyone ever told him "you cannot or will not be able to accomplish that" Gabriel quietly thought to himself "just watch me" and then did it.
If you want to see someone accomplish something - just tell Gabriel, he cannot do it - he will smile, be polite as heck - then do it whether it takes a day, a week , a year or two.
Many people do not know Gabriel started teaching kids martial arts classes with me over 20 years ago. For the first couple years we taught together and at the end of class would discuss how it went, how to improve and really impart the information to the kids while making it fun for them but making them work so hard they were exhausted at the end of class.
Gabriel took over all the teaching 20 years ago and now I help teach his students as his assistant when I am available to go help.
He has many students he has been teaching 3 times a week since they were 5 or so and some have graduated University now. His normal facility was not available yesterday so he had 20 of them training here at our property after running up the mountain beside us and it was so inspiring to see all these wonderful, hard working, polite, humble, skilled kids training with their big huge smiles and laughing away.
It feels great to have had some contribution in any way towards that.
I have not thought about some of this stuff for years and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to reflect and remember. So many incredible memories over the past 4 decades with my wife and kids.
Sorry for the extra lengthy ramble on e-mail.

@@kvarga9164 that's amazing, thanks so much for sharing! Gabriel is truly an amazing competitor, and such a forthright and generous person. I'm very happy he's doing so many videos for all of us amateurs and wishful thinkers on UA-cam. 👍

That would make you a cardio beast. Or you won't survive 😲
Just 1 per day is good.
