Wish I had seen this prior to arriving at the airport. I didn’t and couldn’t do it. There was a tax free sign on the floor I was in but it was closed. I couldn’t go back after check-in. Very frustrating.
Hi there , actually have inquiries 1- Do we need to have customs stamp for each invoice? 2- is there any physical check need to be conducted by customs before global blu ? 3- for the other purchases i havr tax free but not with global blu , it with yellow color invoice is that a planet ?
Do you have to do the VAT refund first even if youre putting the items you purchased in your carry on? Some of the Global Blue envelopes state thay if youre putting it in your carry on that you have to do the Global Blue kiosk or counter after security
Sorry. I am not aware whether there are kiosks available after security or not. I’ve documented the experiences that I’ve had with the VAT refund process.
Hi! This video is so so helpful. Are the kiosks open 24/7? I have an early flight, around 0700 and I saw somewhere that the counters open around 0800. Thanks in advance!
Hello. A few questions. There is a Global Blue Lounge in Milan. Is it better to use the Lounge? Also, Where is customs in the airport? I understand that we have to get our Global Blue tax form stamped by customs. I have also read that there is one area for checked in purchases, and another for carry on purchases. I was hoping you can shed some light on this. Thank you!
We didn’t go to the global Blue lounge, but were given that option as well. For us it just seemed easier to do at the airport together with our other Planet forms. As for the customs question, there is no need for customs stamping when using these customs agent (either kiosk or counter). The agent did tell us that sometime people are randomly selected for customs searches, but if that is required, they will tell you.
Do you need to have your boarding pass in order to use the Global Blue Kiosk ? I am asking because at one point the Kiosk asked you to scan all your boarding pass. I also saw you entered all the flight information manaully in the video. I think you did not have the boarding pass yet as you had not checked in when processing your refund at the Kiosk. Also, at the end of the video you indicated you checked in after processing the refund at the Kiosk. Can you clarify ? Thanks
No, you do not need to have your boarding pass; we did our refund before checking into our flight. We manually keyed in the flight details when it requested the flight information at the Global Blue Kiosk. This was no issue. At the counter process, there was also no problem. We only needed the booking number. The reason we wanted to claim our VAT refund before check-in was that we wanted to put our items in our checked luggage. In most cases, the VAT refund process will not require you to show the physical items, but there is a slim possibility that you may be selected for a customs check. If we had checked our items first, we would not have been able to complete that step (in the rare possibility we were selected for such check.) If you plan to carry on the item, there is no issue checking in before the VAT refund process. Hope that helps.
@@unboxingday Thanks.. I also did the VAT refund prior to checking in as well. I had to input the electronic ticket # at the kiosk in lieu of the boarding pass. It went very well. Your video helps a lot.
Yes, you have to give your passport at time purchase. This is a necessary first step if you want to claim a VAT. The store will register your purchase with the vat refund company at that time.
Hi Question please once i buy something in the store and i ask for tax free they will put the information in the system so once i scan my passport everything will show ??
I want to know 2 Things. 1. Can we get cash refund using Kiosk from global Blue? 2. Can we use our local country credit card and when do we get refund in credit card? I have my flight tomorrow from Malpensa. So quick answer would be great :)
No you don’t! It’s all in the system once you scanned the passports. That’s the beauty of automated systems. ;) This is only applicable to Global Blue. but keep all the documentation in case of spot checks by Customs.

Hi, if I bought in Denmark, but going back to the US on a different flight from Madrid, where do I have to apply for the tax refund?
Hi. Is this for purchases in milan only or the whole EU area?
How many global blue kiosks are at the airport?
There were only two kiosks. However there wasn’t much of a queue; the line moved really fast.
thank you!!

You will get the full refund of whatever is printed on the tax form. I don’t recall the exact percentage.

I believe as long as you are departing EU with the goods, then yes.

Hi for planet tax refund can use kiosk?
There’s no kiosk for Planet, at least in the Milan Malpensa airport as at April 2023.
