If a food bank is having to throw away that much food it tells me one thing, they aren't giving people as much as they could be, why not let people look and take extra before it expires and goes in the bin! Same with shops should let customers have a chance before going in the bin but obviously they must get insurance money back for all damages so just be sneaky about it being ruined
Sad isn't it! I agree with you. However, unfortunately there are people who take it ALL in excess and then there is none left for others. Our local food bank had to put a stop to that. Now because of selfish people doing that; we have to be led by the hand and overlooked as to how much we take and it has to account for the number of people in the household.
@@mariwillalwaysgivethanks Anything close to expiring or being binned could maybe be on separate shelves: & perhaps limit to x3 items per family. Would save wastage. Like the yellow labelled knocked down stuff at the supermarket, but with limits.
Pomegranate molasses makes a lovley salad dressing when mixed with balsamic vinegar it's yummy, can't believe a food back are throwing away perfectly good food, all those onions shocking !😮
Nice to see you back at fairshare, showing us just how much they throw away. They started up two things here on portland, 1) Weekly subscription depending on the size of your family and you got a couple of bags of groceries. 2) Buy a bag of specific items from Tesco and then put the bag in there donation bin. Neither lasted very long as we not only have the food bank but also the community kitchen and other services to help folks out. Take care stay safe and happy diving 😊
Weekly subscription must have been the kiss of death! When prices are through the roof who would pay for a subscription when like you said, there's the community kitchen and food banks.👍
Our local food bank wont take food after its best before date or use by date, i can understand useed by but not best before, you have companies on line selling best before stuff and people buy it so why do people throw this stuff away, you do a great job helping people out
Oh my goodness...the food bank is being wasteful now?! What a darn shame!! 🙁 What a great score on the drinks though!! The Guinness alone is a fair bit of coin.💲 That was a nice donation ❤
Wow, you dropped on the mother load of drinks, that was an amazing start. I thoroughly enjoyed this dive, which I do all of yours Martin 👍 but really enjoyed this. So I think you deserve one of those Guinness's and feet up tonight. So see you next time, and I've got my fingers crossed for you reaching 100k Subscribers before Christmas...🥰🇬🇧🐾🐾🏡🎄❄️👍
It’s such a shame that ppl don’t donate food for the people who are in need. How would they like it if the shoe was on the other foot. 😢. It doesn’t make any sense to me! It does make me happy to see you donate what you find to the community. Keep up the good work.
How disgraceful that the food bank is throwing away in date food! People are donating to help people less fortunate who are not even getting to look at the food donated it seems!!! I’m really annoyed by this. And if I’m honest I’m not ever giving to food banks again 😢 Good on you Martin for doing what you do. Well done. 🎉
Hello! Great drink donation Martin! Drinks/beverages are one of the items that disappear first at the food pantries. If I didn't get there early; coffee was almost always gone! 😢 I used to be a beer drinker, but I drink red wine now just before dinner! In moderation.🧐
Oh, holy cow, I hadnt realized you've changed the channel's name and I was ignoring your videos recommended on my youtube due to believing it was a different dumpster diver. I've got some catching up to do ! :D
Would love that almond milk. It lasts ages. I’m allergic to dairy and it starts getting really expensive when you have to buy alternatives. I guess even food banks have to be careful that they don’t get sued for providing so called ‘out of date’ stuff, but as you say best before is not out of date, especially with regard to tins. Much more education is needed! People never had best before dates before, they trusted their sense of smell as to if stuff was off!
You're right most cans and even crisps are ok if they haven't been opened...cans you only have to worry about the integrity of the can...if it's rusty obviously you don't use it but clean cans are OK for years. Leafy herbs are really the only thing that doesn't work as well thr older they get...like dried basil or dried thyme loses flavor as it ages. It seems like so many countries have a waste culture when it comes to food and so many people are struggling just to have food to eat.
Hi Martin I think your donating etc shows the kindness of your heart and I think u r a legend for doing this .I fancy dumpster diving here in arbroath, Scotland can I ask what time or days are best too do this diving ? ..again gr8 work Martin..
Wow, a food bank that are ignoring their own policy. And people have donated thst food to help those in need. I would have thought that it would have been given out before it got to its BB.
Food bank seem to be run by picky high standard people like the charity shops who if not quite right throw it. Fine throw it but onto someone who can use it same when they trash items they got for free not wanting anyone else to have a freebie. They would rather it goes to landfill
Hi Martin, great finds as usual, you’re Chanel always delivers, I wanted to ask you if you still have the cutlery for people like myself who have arthritis, if so do you have any for sale, just broke mine totally gutted, x
I've eaten and drunk many things way beyond the Fareshare best before policy guidelines. Best before only relates to the quality of the product from a manufacturer's perspective. Cook items thoroughly if in doubt. Use common sense, if there's a smell of mould when you open a packet, don't eat it. If you taste a little of the food and it doesn't taste normal, spit it out and bin the item. Use your common sense. I've drunk cranberry juice 2 years beyond BBE date. It'd oxidised a bit, like red wine or port, but still tasted fine. All of that Almond breeze would've been fine too BTW, not dairy so perfectly good to use.
Hi Martin, greetings from the Czech Republic. Why do Western European companies throw away so much food? That would feed the whole world. That's disgusting. Thanks for what you're doing. Best wishes.
You should grab the ones you're not sure about or what other people say can't be good and do a video opening them and seeing if it is good like you said you'd do with the other ones. would be very helpful to us who aren't sure what to grab or donate. I'm gonna ask other divers that i watch to do the same it would be extremely helpful and educate people who assume the dates are absolute facts and go bad the night of the best by. Maybe educate some of these food banks as well.
To actually see food wasted in a Dumpster that was initially Donated to a Food Bank to help struggling families is quite frankly DISGUSTING. People out of the Goodness of their hearts have picked up those items whilst shopping and donated them. This needs to be shown to the powers that be, to actually show them this disgusting act
Omg, I think I would have left one or two of those drinks for someone else to find. It's the fruit and veg from M&S that does my head in. All those onions will keep all winter. All tin food is OK it the can hasn't blown. All this breaks my heart
I know such a waste wasted ice cream some were still good when I took some when I got home I ended up still getting rid of them ! A few were good such waste
I was shocked when he was in the back of the bin but when he opened the front I actually gasped. I know there are rules in food banks about not giving out items that are out of date, but this is ridiculous
That's probably the most desperately sad and wasteful example you've shown us, so far (that I've seen), and furthermore, for a charity to not even recycle cardboard is despicable as well.
Why do the shops throw it away? If box is damaged just put reduced price on it. Then food bank obviously don't know how to move the items around so that the things are in date. They probably never moved them around. Where was that food bank? My flour lasts for years in my house so I cant see why they couldn't have given it away.
I could weep at seeing all this food thrown away from a food bank, what is going on? How does this give us encouragement to give to food banks? These people need reporting, the wrong people must be doing the work, while children go hungry.
Disgusting that a food bank is dumping donated food well done martin you do an awesome thing saving this food x🤗🤗
sadly foodbanks cant take food very near or past the best before date incase someone gets sick and sues them

I agree let people choose more, a lot better than throwing it in bin .

Shocking specially the Food Bank 😮
Thanks
Thank you for saving from a food bank you have rescued so much its beyond belief

The last bins were from a food bank.
I love mogumogu...I get the universal yums box and I got a bottle of peach mogumogu and it was so good. Nice haul.
I agree, get all those canned goods. That is a wonderful find. I believe in prepping and cannedgoods is a must.
Me too. I have totes full of tinned goods and mylar bags with dried goods. Better to be prepared.
Same here, prepped up & still going 16 people to think about.😊
Your making well loads of content at the moment Martin. Thanks so much, regularly watch.
Glad you enjoy it!

Tins of food in the bin and from a food bank, how dare they. For everyone that donates and think they are helping people just disgusting.
Wow, a food bank that are ignoring their own policy. And people have donated thst food to help those in need. I would have thought that it would have been given out before it got to its BB.
Plus if they have excess why not ring a couple of other food banks up and say "we've got lots of X - do you want any?"....
The US needs to learn the same thing about best by dates also
Food bank seem to be run by picky high standard people like the charity shops who if not quite right throw it. Fine throw it but onto someone who can use it same when they trash items they got for free not wanting anyone else to have a freebie. They would rather it goes to landfill
The pomegranate sauce is so nice I always buy it from Sainsburys it’s so nice on salads

@dumpsterdivinguk oh yes I did, but not everyone can get to food banks.
@hevchip741 they don't give them out at the food bank they get put out on a table in the high street and people take them for free
@dumpsterdivinguk oh nice, that's a better idea

Shouldn’t be thrown away should be donated to the same place who have thrown it all out absolutely crazy that blows my mind honestly this world is FKD
Why would a food bank chuck the food out there supposed to help people
Maybe it has an expiry date???

They were rotting 😆
