Boxing is an individual sport where only a small percentage can make great money from it, the same as golf and tennis. Only the elite will make it. The same as every other profession out there. Boxing in all areas is based off the revenue of a show, and the small ones will not make enough to pay boxers so it’s just based on their own ticket sales and maybe the promoter might give them a 100 or so…. The mid ones are okay for the promoters but the boxers don’t make enough and have full time jobs still, and ultimately the best ones of those get fed to the bigger shows as cannon fodder for their star attractions. The big shows are making millions in revenue because they’re on TV with sponsorship deals, ad revenue and have thousands of people in attendance where tickets are hundreds, if not thousands of pounds, and then PPV shows have all of that, and then the PPV revenue as well. Just because you can be given the title of a professional sportsman doesn’t mean it’s always a living or a job. It’s a sport.
