One of the things to remember, is look around you, take a newspaper and roll it up real tight then rap it around your knuckles. The advantage is they are discardable, but you end up with something that will save your hand(s). All the strikes with the closed fist are possible. This technique I learned from a special forces ex-operative. I have tried it on the wall and my hand did not even hurt. Good video.

Two days ago about 11:00 am someone was trying to get in our front door by turning the handle back and forth, funny part is that I fell asleep while feeding my granddaughter her bottle of baby stuff 😂 grandma was in the other room folding clothes, two vehicles in the driveway and that didn’t stop this person,we do have the picture from the doorbell camera . If that door wasn’t locked I wonder what the outcome might’ve been, we don’t necessarily have to be on the lookout for the bad guy at the mall or gas station they’ll come to your door at any given moment. Once we get a sniff of evil it’s time to buckle up and stay that way, a sitting duck doesn’t stand a chance. Carry what is legal in public and keep on or near yourself at home what ever exists around you to protect those precious love ones and yourself, we’re all worth protecting ❤

When the picture came up , the single knuckle was my first choice. All the Force is focused in a smaller area . Although a hit from the side of full knuckle would be near the same . Most people don't know how to make a tight fist or Keep the wrist straight in delivery of a punch . Knuckles can be broken , wrist can be hurt enough to make it very painful to continue punching . If you don't have one of those an open hand palm strike is very effective . Close range (self defense) anything to protect yourself from sticks , stones , plastic or metals . I agree with you . Points well made . Thank you Will

Im glad you did show examples of how to use them. I find most people don't even know how to wear or strike with them properly & really misunderstand weapons in general. For example so many people still think boxing gloves are protective equipmant for the face but they are wwepons to allow someone to hit em harder

When I was in middle school in New Orleans (1972), we had to fight at least once a week with the other groups of kids. It was a real dangerous place.
I used to carry a roll of pennies wrapped with tape in my pocket. It was just enough to keep my fist in tact during a ruckus.
Nowadays, a roll of nickels is just right.

Many people don’t understand knuckles they are force multiplier. The problem with knuckles is the range. I believe the best self-defense weapon is a cane. The biggest problem is thinking these types of things will make every situation a win. You must train.
Our country is turning worse then I’ve ever seen. We have people from all over the world here because they get free stuff. Venezuela emptied its jails and sent them here. Gangs are now everywhere.
Stay safe an watch your 6.

Plastic knuckles are a good idea imo. Hard but light. Them knuckles do not have to bring weight into the game, where you ain't trying to split a log with em anyways.

I can't help but carry my brass knucks everyday everywhere these days. I hope to never use them. But I don't have to carry a knife that a cop will arrest me for, and the knuckles are just a risk I take. I'm not young and nimble. But I practice with my brass on trees, bags, anything, and I know what I'm capable of with them if someone grabs my kids or some nightmare when we're out. I'm not really in need by myself. It's just an equalizer if I need to protect my kids.

My Dad was a boxer in his youth. When he started to teach me about fighting there were two things he tought basic boxing skills and street fighting skills. He was good in both as he grew up in a big city and had his share of street fights as a kid. His one main concept of street fighting is what ever it takes to not get a beat down is acceptable. A 2x4, a steel pipe, heavy chain, a knife, a roll of coins, what ever is available. You are talking about street fighting where anything goes to defend yourself, being it pew-pew if you have one or anything you can get your hands on in the time of crisis. Keep up the good work. Just remember you are instructing people not really trained in self defense but in need to be careful in part because of age. Your practical instructions are wide and varied and as such allow opportunities for people from all walks of life and physical conditions to learn how to defend themselves to some degree at least. As you said it is better to sit in a court than to lie in a coffin. It all goes to what my Dad taught me which is street fight is often time a fight for life. What ever it takes to live is worth while.

I was attacked by a drunk and mentally-unstable man wielding a knife, a total stranger, for no apparent reason. I tried to retreat but got chased until I was cornered by a hedgerow, I wound up firing a warning shot first, but he literally didn't react until he had been hit twice, didn't actually retreat until the 3rd. Thankfully, my attacker survived with medical attention. My point being, that these kinds of situations can happen literally anywhere. Regardless of beliefs or laws. People like my attacker aren't terribly common, but they also aren't *_that_* rare either.

@@hanelyp1 Charlotte, NC. Pineville, to be specific. I was also technically carrying with an expired CCW, but the ADA felt it wasn't worth prosecution due to the circumstances (obvious/clear-cut self-defense), the disparity in drug/alc testing of my attacker and myself (me-clean, him-unstated, implied drunk, &/or maybe worse), and his "history of violence and trangressive behavior". I should also note that my main reason for firing such a shot was to demonstrate that I was armed, with a real, live, and loaded pistol, and willing to shoot. It was nighttime, and considering the distance when the shooting started, it's quite possible my attacker couldn't see/recognize my rather tiny Beretta Tomcat, &/or may not have believed it to be a real weapon. I was hoping the demonstration would deter him without injury. Obviously, it did not actually do such. He was bold/dumb enough to keep coming afterward. He even made threats during the pause between hits 2 & 3 such as "I swear to god if you shot me I'mma rip your c**k off" while checking/patting himself. I learned that evening that many folks don't always instantly feel gunshot wounds, especially if intoxicated or adrenaline fueled.

Time waits for no man, you aren't a 20-year-old badass forever. Anything that can help defend you is a good thing.
I really like those single-finger ones, they look like they solve all the problems. I had a pair of "custom" aluminum ones my friend's Granddad cast us when we were teens. They were 2 knuckles wide, no finger separators, but curved inward on the outside to fit between the fingers well, with a curved punching surface and I'm pretty sure the grip was a mold of a Bic lighter ground down a bit. They were pretty nice I lost them in my late 20s swimming.

Take extra care when checking local laws. In california brass, hard wood, and composit knuckles are prohibited under distinct paragraphs of the criminal code. And a lot of legal references online only reference the first.
Then you get moron juries who will convict when the letter of the prohibition isn't met.

I have a large glove size as far as hand circumference is concerned. My fingers are somewhat short, but it’s hand circumference mostly that this goes by. If you want to snug fit, I would go with medium, but if you want a little room, I would go with the large.

My fear with any kind of knuckle tool is that I would hit the wrong way, twist the tool the wrong way, and break my fingers. I don't rule them out completely, but I feel very wary of them. The only one I own is an ice scraper with a single finger hole. The thing is marketed as a self-defense tool, but the only way I'll ever use it is to defend myself against ice on my windshield.
As a photographer, I can see some uses for knuckles as photography props. I wouldn't mind ordering some of these as photography props. I might even paint them with a metallic paint to make them look like real brass knuckles.
Of these, I really like the single-knuckle version. I would consider getting that one with some thought of using it in self-defense. I'd still worry about breaking a finger, but I think it could work for me.
For people who are comfortable using knuckles, I'd expect these to work as well as metal versions. A strong polymer is going to withstand almost any punch. If someone hits hard enough to break one of these, that person hits hard enough to stop an opponent with one punch. In that situation, the knuckles will absorb some energy and give some protection to the person's fingers.
I'd avoid using these to go through places that don't allow metal knuckles. I doubt that these would get through an X-ray machine at an airport. They would get through a regular metal detector, but I wouldn't want to be caught with them on the other side of a metal detector.
The better use for these would be situations where someone wants this kind of protection but doesn't want to carry the weight of metal knuckles. Metal knuckles might weigh down certain suit coats or even cargo pants pockets. The result would be an odd look or just an uncomfortable feel. These should be much lighter. One could carry them daily without having that extra weight.

I purchased a pair of the ergonomic knuckles for my older daughter and for me. I used the size chart on line and ordered a small for her and a medium for me. My fit was correct. I haven't given hers to her yet. The lightweight feature is excellent! I'l put mine in my pocket and it's like it's not there! Also, they are non-detectable. If one wears them as you instructed in an earlier video, it will cause severe pain if striking boney areas of your opponents body! The nucks are very reasonably priced.

I have carried and trained with pocket knives as early as elementary school. For the last 3-4 years or so, I have only begun to appreciate the stopping power of "blunt force trauma" and the tools to effectively deliver it. It occurred to me that the time and effort it took to reduce an attacker's blood pressure to incapacitate them with a pocket knife, versus using a tool such as the one highlighted in your video, I could be in my car, on the way home. With the most basic striking, targeting, and footwork skills, blunt force trauma with these tools knocks people out or easily debilitates them with little force from the defender. I used to carry slingshots (padlocks with lanyards). Not anymore, I now carry plastic! "7” custom 3RD HAND EDC tools from Vulpes Training. They are so lightweight, I carry two every day, all day. I appreciate your instruction. Thanks

    Hello Daniel,
Here's something to think about. A guy I work with said he found a railroad spike, he cut the square shaft down so it fit nicely in his hand. To use as striking tool. He drilled a hole in the shaft and put his key ring through the hole. That was his reason for having the modified railroad spike on him.

Great video...:) I've debated whether or not to purchase one of these products. I think they can be useful, if you're willing to do a little bit of training. What I liked most about this video is the "single knuck" option...:) As a student and instructor in Escrima I could see a lot of uses for this single knuckle version. Back in my bouncer days (1980's-early 2000's) some of us learned that stick or pencil/pen in our hand that we could strike an aggressive person in the ribs, many times worked great. A rib shot from something like a single knuckle, or either end of a closed folding knife will sometimes get a person to double over. And it was a pretty easy strike to do with your hands down as your hand didn't have to move very far and it wasn't as noticeable as a strike to the head. Anyone who's Boxed can attest to how devastating a body shot can be. In women's self-defense classes we sometimes teach a stomp to the instep because it's not only a simple technique that many women can do, but also will sometimes cause the attacker leg pain which might make them not want to continue the assault as the woman runs away. A single plastic knuckle would be another good option to have as part of the instep stomp technique. It's best to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it...:) Keep up the good videos...:)
