    This is why I watch you. This video is a perfect example of why you're the best UA-camr in the cruise space - you deal in facts. You do the research, you put in the time and the work, and you come up with the facts and you fill in the blanks and answer the questions everyone has based on those facts, not guesses or hunches. Yes, I agree 100% with everything you said here.

    What doesn't make sense is that I can fly down to Mexico, walk around anywhere I want, in the same areas the cruise passengers go,, with or without a mask, jump on a plane and come back to the US no problem.

      Totally agree with you the CDC and far left are causing alot of the issues you can survive from covid19 and actually masks don't save lives it has actually been proven it's pointless to wear a mask if we are vaccinated. Like I've told people if you wanna live in fear for the rest of your life that's on you not on me I'm going to live my life fear free the cdc is just helping the far left control the US to cause a economic collapse and force everyone into poverty like i said to have more control over the people aka slavery.

      The cruise industry should stop trying to appease the CDC. It's a waste of resources. They said what they said & everytime they're challenged, they double down. If the court sides with them, that's a wrap. They'll always have the preservation-of-life argument on their side and that trumps economic concerns. Sail from other ports until the health emergency declaration is lifted.

      How does vaccine passport get around Medical Privacy HIPAA ?

    • @ScottMilliken
      @ScottMilliken 3 роки тому +7

      @@caddothegreat HIPPA doesn't mean that you never have to share your medical information or that a company can't ask for it. It's a law that governs how the people you share your medical information with can share it with others. In other words, your general practitioner can't just decide that since you have flat feet that they should share that information with Dr. Scholl's. You have to make the decision to contact Dr. Scholl's, which your doctor can advise you to do. Basically when you give medical information, there's a privacy statement that tells you what that entity plans to share with others and you either decline or accept it. A vaccine passport would likely state that they will only share your personal identifier and a yes/no value about whether or not you are current on your immunization.

    If they are certain that the vaccine is that effective, then I can't understand why a cruise providing documentation of 100% vaccination shouldn't be allowed. Before my first cruise, I was concerned because of all the Noravirus horror stories. However RCL"s level of sanitation was amazing and completed allayed any fears of becoming ill due to lack of hygiene. CDC needs to figure which direction they really want to go.

    Thanks again, Tony. Very informative. I think we should all just chill out and accept whatever it takes for cruising to get started. Sure, the cruises will start out super strict, but as US cruises demonstrate successful cruising, restrictions will most likely ease up. Those who don't like the restrictions don't have to cruise. 95% passenger vaccinated cruises is close to 100% vaccinated. Do it with restrictions first. After success, do it without fewer restrictions. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

So, my question still remains why does the CDC treat cruise ship travel any differently than if I traveled to Europe and either took a cruise ship or some other tour? I'm just hoping my Sept cruise gets canceled soon, so I can plan for next year (repositioning from AK to Mexico, and we know AK is not going to happen!)

    Azi Pod not Azia Pod, lol. Good information as Always Tony. CDC is represented in the cruise industry by United States Public Health inspectors who visit any vessel carrying 200 plus passengers unannounced for inspections twice a year. Those vessels must comply to the Vessel Sanitation Program and ar scored out of 100 with points deducted for findings. I am sure the next update to the VSP manual will have major additions for compliance with COVID protocols.

    Funny how my niece on April 19,2021 flew from Washington DC to Las Vegas and the flight was booked they were seated side by side so arm touching happened during the flight...no social distancing was in place. She also said people had mask but most of the passengers took them off during flight and wasn’t asked to put them back on! So how is this fair?? Is the CDC not monitoring this to make sure protocols are being followed? To me the CDC is very much discriminating against cruising! Just wondering are the airplane companies required to have agreements set up with the airports, hotels and hospitals like what is proposed to the cruising industry? Pretty sure my cruise will be canceled in July and at this point I’m thinking of canceling myself..... if I want to ride a roller coaster then I’ll go to an amusement park!!

    NCL could always sail out of the Bahamas, Barbados, Saint Maarten, or Cozumel and still require 100% shots for crew and passengers. Then if everything is okay, present the findings to the CDC and hopefully proceed to the next level.

    Tony, thanks for clearly outlining the issues. However, I'm more convinced than ever that the CDC doesn't care about missed opportunities. They are totally into stalling cruises in any way they can. They don't care that many people are out of work or that the cruise lines are bleeding money. They only care about trying to get to zero risk. They will continue to throw obstacles in the path of cruising from the US as long as possible.

    Let me see if this make sense. You can travel to Bahamas for your cruise and walk around Nassau port before or after your cruise (outside of the cruise bubble) and then travel back to US on an airline and not quarantine. But if you were able to cruise from Miami to Nassau and return you could NOT walk around the port without being on a cruise only excursion.

    I was very curious about how the CDC had “authority” to say what happens in foreign ports and international waters. The big “guidance that threw me” was saying “only one ship in port for private islands.” Well those private islands are mainly in the Bahamas and my thought was the CDC can’t tell the Bahamas how to deal with port decisions (1 ship or multiple).
    Side note I did actually know about the International Flag Code. Been studying it just for a fun “good to know”

    TYVM! For policy/political reasons I do not think the CDC is going to require vaccines. I strongly agree that they should strongly incentivize good policy; have long and arduous test sailing procedures for unvaccinated cruises and much simpler for the desired vaccinated cruises. In fact, there is a simple and face-saving fix. A couple of paragraphs saying that cruises with literal 100% (not just adults who can & will) vaccinated and that rapid test on embark/debark can have maskless cruises and do not need a test sailing.

    If a cruise ship never enters US waters then CDC has NO say over what the cruise lines do. Between FL and the CDC, ships have no reason to dock here.

  • @kentfrederick8929

    I think part of the problem is that none of the major ships operating out of Florida, Texas, New York, and other ports in the continental U.S. are U.S. flagged. So, none of them have many American employees.
    If a U.S. cruise line had a fleet of U.S.-flagged ships, with American crews with union representation, things might be different. Apparently, several unions representing school teachers got the CDC to backtrack on protocols for schools.

  • @susandomres6718

    The problem is too that the governor of Florida won’t let the cruise lines ask if you are vaccinated so how are they to know if you are fully vaccinated or not?

    Thanks so much for the explanation regarding CDC R&Rs applying to non-US ports. I definitely had some questions about that. At this point, I am waiting for your cruise out of The Bahamas. I want to hear all about the experience. I am booked for 2/2022 (out of Miami) and hoping things will be somewhat sorted by then. I am not a person who is so enamored of spending time at sea that I don't care if we can't get off and roam around on our own...even with a mask, when required. I like to think of cruising as a vacation on my way to vacation.

    What annoys me (and many others) is the conflicting messages from the CDC. If I'm vaccinated, why do I have to live with all these restrictions? Because I may still carry it to non-vaccinated people? But that begs the question of when do we simply allow those who refuse to vaccinate to live with an increased chance they will contract COVID? I don't think keeping the world at a stand still until everyone is vaccinated is realistic. I have been trying to figure out their end game for awhile now.

    I agree with you Tony they did lose a huge opportunity.
    What I'm guessing will happen is if you don't book an Excursion you can't leave the ship. Do you think this is assumption is correct? Sometimes I just like to go to the port area, wander around a little bit, maybe buy a souvenir or two then go back to the ship. It doesn't sound like I would be allowed to do that. Our cruise in September is to three islands I've never been to before we haven't made a decision on what we want to do.

    Thanks for your explanation of why you can't do what you want in international waters . It would be great if they were to allow NCL do what you suggested. They just need to let the Cruise lines start back up again somehow someway just let them get back, too many people are struggling with not being able to sail.

  • @GrumpyGolf4
    @GrumpyGolf4 3 роки тому +1

    While it would be interesting to see NCL experiment with 100% vaccinated passenger and staff cruises, statistically we would expect 10% of those people to have covid ( none of the vaccines are 100% effective). So at the end of that cruise, a ship with a total occupancy of 2000, would have an expectation of 200 infected. There would be no opportunity to claim success.

    Tony, I think your comments are right on the money. The CDC should set guidelines for test Cruises and non-vaccinated Cruises. Totally vaccinated Cruises should have much less restriction.

  • @bridgetleary1183
    @bridgetleary1183 3 роки тому

    Personally, I think the CDC realized that the biggest stumbling block to restarting cruises from the US was the test cruises. And they realized that the protocols & processes that would be demonstrated during the test cruises were not relevant to a fully vaccinated ship. So, they made two branches in the “return to sailing” process.
    Then, I think, they brought those two branches back together for actual cruises when the two branches should have stayed as two branches with different requirements for actual sailings.

    This doesn't really apply to our cruise, next month though, right, Tony? Coming out and back to Nassau, Royal is basically practicing their healthy protocols, but some are different like no masks in open-air (aka the Lido) since we are all vaccinated.
