A modern version of this with dlc would be amazing. "Sega Fighters Megamix" Virtua on robots, yakuza characters, more sonic characters, Virtua fighter 5 characters, fv 2 characters, all the Virtua cop ones, space channel 5, streets of rage, golden axe, my god, so many Sega franchises lend themselves to it.
Sega has so much potential in all of their properties... but I feel they've been asleep for the past 2 decades. Idk what happened but with the demise of Saturn the company is like 1/10th of what it used to be in terms of creative incentive.
They should pull a PlayStation Classic in reverse: whereas Sony crippled their own games using the PAL versions, Sega should include the Model 2 version of a game when there's a Model 2 version of it. (ex: Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, etc.) Make modern gamers wonder why the hell people thought the PlayStation was more powerful.

Another awesome video as usual..thanks for pointing this game out although i never had a saturn i fondly remember the video game magazines of the era (probably spring of '96-'97 or something) praising Fighters megamix ..even the name sounds cool when you say it! haha even to this day the game looks awesome and smth i would spend some time with (never too late to get a saturn eh?). One of the things our generation enjoyed was seeing these kind of games for the 1st time with nothing prior to them able to compare and we felt the excitement of video game evolution (2d to 3d, fmv's, etc.) and this is smth that goes beyond generations of consoles its how the game is presented and perceived by the player that creates true excitement. Smth equal to this for ppl today would be getting yourself in the game but i feel we have some time ahead of us until this is fully done...we were lucky!
Just found this channel. This was actually the first video I watched today. I grew up with Sega. I was trying to find that one game where you can play as a race car in a fighting game. I went ahead and subscribed, keep it up!🤩
I put together a kick ass montage video of this back in the day when the store I worked at called EBX in my local mall had display screens out front. They ran the video all day, many folks wanted the game, but they all had playstation and they were like, "why can't I get this on PS." I gotta see if I can dig up the video. It's on VHS tape. But I showcased a lot of great moves.
I have this for my saturn and being in the UK and pal region you immediately think that it would be slower. But sega did something very good with a lot of their games by optimising them so no speed was lost. Which is why if you try to play a Pal game on US/JPN saturn with just a action replay cart you might get a blurring effect!
I honestly don’t know why Sega doesn’t just make Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter part of the same universe like Capcom has done with Street Fighter, Final Fight, Rival Schools, and Slam Master’s.
I never had a Saturn but I always wanted one the Sega Saturn was essentially the Laserdisc of the fifth generation but I kept up with all the Saturn information I could get so I'd always known about it and saw the US market ignore it this is the sort of retrospective Fighters Megamix needed
Characters from Streets of Rage, Altered Beast, Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue, Sketch Turner from Comix Zone, Shadow Yamoto from Eternal Champions, and, of course, the rest of the characters that were in Sonic the Fighters.
This is such a great game. I bought a sealed copy of it in the early 2000s for around $7. Bought a few other sealed games including Virtua Fighter Kids. Had I an income and hadn't been a teenager, I would have bought two of each.
I've been a subscriber for a long time and watch virtually all of your videos. UA-cam's jackass algorithm was trying to get me to answer a survey if I'd like to watch this one... I turned all notifications on immediately.
This was my first introduction to fighting games as Saturn is my first console. love this game, and the original Saturn version use to tank the fps when breaking the stage barrier
Megamix seriously rocked the house, it was awesome to have so many fighters and options and everything in one game! However, I must say I always preferred the VF2 character models to the Vipers polygons they seemed to use in Megamix... Still, when I want to introduce someone to the Saturn, I pull out two controllers and Megamix for the nice graphics and framerate, the music, the million options and pick-up-and-playability and make them laugh at the wacky special characters and stuff :) *Akira's theme!!*
I knew about the VF Kids and oddly the Daytona car, but I had no idea that Bean, Bark and Rent-A-Hero were in the game. This has just leapt up near the top of my Saturn list
Bout time, what a game! Love me some Virtua Fighter 2 and it's got the resolution, but is missing all that makes Fighters Megamix special; What's that? It's unbelievable visuals and content, of course! To this day, it must've been the most fun I've ever had with a fighter... Unlocking all these funky characters, learning all the craziest moves and exploring an all the new mash up of distinct mechanics... What more could you ask for? ...and don't even get me started on that sexy shading, colourful lighting and dynamic shadows; This thing had so much life in it...
I love Fighters Megamix but the only reason I kept playing it many times over until VF3 on the Dreamcast came along. This is because I used megamix as a stopgap and training ground for VF3. In fact, I use to go back and forth between Megamix and Virtua Fighter 2, which helped considerably. What's funny is when you finally figure out how to play Virtua Fighter 3, it completely changed your gameplay style on VF2 as it made you realise how insanely deep VF2 really is. Just in case - this is not to say I cannot play Fighting Vipers. In fact, I can rock Fighting Vipers and enjoyed playing it, but compared to Last Bronx and VF, I couldn't see myself playing it repetitively like those other games.
I fondly remember this game and remember when it was talked about in gaming magazines. I had be every Virtura Fighter game and Fighting Vipers at the time. I was afraid that Fighters MegaMix would not make it to America so I ordered it from Japan for $200. I was playing it for over a year before it finally came to America. I still own the Japanese import to this day.
There was nothing more satisfying than charging up your attack and finally punching your opponent through a fence at the end of the round, as the physics would make them fly half way across the screen haha! Played the hell out of this game back in the day and there were certainly elements of the game that I preferred over Virtua Fighter 2. The stiff animation on the Kumachan always cracked me up. Good times, great video as always.
Hey! Big fan of your work, I love video games and Sega certainly had several gems on their platforms. On that note, are there any notable Sega/Mega CD sports games? Maybe enough to do a video about? I'm pretty sure NBA Jam, NHL 94, Sensible Soccer all fit on the list, but I don't hear much discussion about these games. I mean, try finding a video on UA-cam about Bouncers (if that counts.) I know you just did a video on the Sega CD, but I wanted to ask in advance. Keep on making the best Sega content on UA-cam!
Fighters Megamix doesn't get brought up often enough. When Sega re-released Sonic Fighters & Fighting Vipers I was hoping Fighter's Megamix would have been next. It's a gem that deserves Sega's attention for a remaster, remake, or sequel. Seeing the Daytona car in action again makes my inner-child squeal.
I remember the good times when my Dad would take me to rent a Jim Carrey movie and a Saturn game on a Friday before ordering pizza. I had a blast playing theough games like this while my Dad and his roomate Dace would practise wrestling in the other room. Unfortunately my Dad passed away from AIDS he got from a blood transfusion. RIP Dad.
Found this game by accident.... Kept seeing it sitting It on the rack in the import section. Saw Bahn and Akita on the cover and thought it was some kind of card game.... I never knew what I was looking at. Turned the box around and kept seeing question marks for unlovable characters. I still was buying games that I played in the arcade from Neo geo and Capcom until..... My friend had a friend who stopped by the house while we was playing Guardian Heroes. He said he had a game call “Fighters Megamix”. The same game I saw on the rack... I said ain’t that a card game? He said he’ll no it’s a fighter. thought it was too good be true... UNTIL I TURNED IT ON AND PLAYED IT!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 80% of VF3 moves added in plus the evade in Vipers game engine?? Zen-La!!!! Mind you. Virtua Fighter is my favorite fighter. I been praying for a part 2 but SEGA never listens. As A AMERICAN STAR PLAYER IN VIRTUA FIGHTER 5: FINAL SHOWDOWN. We need a VF6 or Fighter Megamix 2 bad. This is a great video. Thank you for recognizing this gem.
One of my favourite 3D fighting games and arguably the best on Saturn just because of all the content it contains. I still play this regularly and it still looks great with all the lighting effects and the plane taking off which was missing in Fighting Vipers. Perhaps its greatest strength was not having an arcade version, as Sega didn't seem to understand the difference between the home and arcade market's most of the time with very little content added. Yet this is full to the brim with fighters and stages plus great cameos from many others such as Janet from Virtua Cop or fighting the Daytona Car. My only complaint is why is there no Sonic in this? Overall this was Sega at their best and a glimpse at what could have been and it would be years before Sonic and Sega All Star Racing Transformed proved once again how great these Sega crossovers can be
lol, I love the timing of this upload. My copy I ordered from Amazon just arrived today. I was playing Fighting Vipers and I could have sworn the Daytona USA car was an unlockable. But I was wrong, and remembered enjoying the hell out of this game when I rented it from Blockbuster as a kid. And this one has the car, which is what I was originally thinking of :)
Anyone remember the cool After Burner plane flyover ? You had to plug in two pads , push a sequence of buttons simultaneously on both pads before the fight began and on round 1 you'd get the After burner plane fly over the ring!

Imagine Fighters MEGAMIX 2 with all the new SEGA characters...
Yakuza guys, a few variations of Sonic, Sakura Wars, Bayonetta, Monkey Ball, well, it could be the Marvel vs Capcom of Sega fighters.
Just found this channel. This was actually the first video I watched today. I grew up with Sega. I was trying to find that one game where you can play as a race car in a fighting game. I went ahead and subscribed, keep it up!🤩
Also in this release, they incorporated VF3 moves on the VF characters too.
Didn't Janet play like Aoi Umenokoji?
@@ShinobiWan1 Yep, and Jeffrey could pull ya up against a fence and rub your face across it like in VF3.
@@classicvwbugs that would be awesome to see!
The crossover I didn’t know I actually still had in perfect condition!!!!
I have this for my saturn and being in the UK and pal region you immediately think that it would be slower. But sega did something very good with a lot of their games by optimising them so no speed was lost. Which is why if you try to play a Pal game on US/JPN saturn with just a action replay cart you might get a blurring effect!
one of the first games i played on saturn. left a big impression on me and is still really fun with friends
I honestly don’t know why Sega doesn’t just make Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter part of the same universe like Capcom has done with Street Fighter, Final Fight, Rival Schools, and Slam Master’s.
Still some of the most fun my brother and I ever had. Good times, thanks for the memories!
I always found it hilarious and awesome that you get to play as the Daytona car in this game. I need to track down a copy of this game sometime.
I never had a Saturn but I always wanted one
the Sega Saturn was essentially the Laserdisc of the fifth generation
but I kept up with all the Saturn information I could get
so I'd always known about it and saw the US market ignore it
this is the sort of retrospective Fighters Megamix needed
I remember renting a Saturn and this game from my local video store. Great times.
Which characters would you guys like to be included in a hypothetical Fighters Megamix 2?
Characters from Streets of Rage, Altered Beast, Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue, Sketch Turner from Comix Zone, Shadow Yamoto from Eternal Champions, and, of course, the rest of the characters that were in Sonic the Fighters.
This is such a great game. I bought a sealed copy of it in the early 2000s for around $7. Bought a few other sealed games including Virtua Fighter Kids. Had I an income and hadn't been a teenager, I would have bought two of each.
I've been waiting for you to make a video about this game. It doesn't get nearly enough love.
I salute you sir for bringing up this magnificent game, I had this and it was just amazing...
I've been a subscriber for a long time and watch virtually all of your videos. UA-cam's jackass algorithm was trying to get me to answer a survey if I'd like to watch this one...
I turned all notifications on immediately.
Fighters Megamix needs an online play re-release.
Am i the only one who wants hornet in smash
SLX, you are absolutely right about ALMOST everything ... I DID know I needed this game! Another cool recommendation! 😄👍🎮
Good show. I loved this game back in the day. Didn't know anyone else that owned it. I spent countless hours playing.
I'm just happy SEGA actually put Rent-A-Hero in there.
I knew about the VF Kids and oddly the Daytona car, but I had no idea that Bean, Bark and Rent-A-Hero were in the game. This has just leapt up near the top of my Saturn list
Anyone that know about the Saturn, has this in there collection!!! It’s a must!
Bout time, what a game!
Love me some Virtua Fighter 2 and it's got the resolution, but is missing all that makes Fighters Megamix special;
What's that?
Sega games often lacked levels and characters. Megamix was the exact opposite
6:18 can we just say that they were COOKING in that studio! 🔥Like they had no business making music this good in the 90s Saturn era. LoL!
Cool! I've never played this one but I can tell this game oozes charm.
Thank you Sega Lord x! Keep up the amazing work and stay safe with love ones. Best wishes from 🇬🇧
Hornet saw what happened to the car in Street Fighter II and said "That's not gonna be me!"
My first Sega Saturn game, what a great game to introduce me to the Saturn.
I mean, try finding a video on UA-cam about Bouncers (if that counts.)
I know you just did a video on the Sega CD, but I wanted to ask in advance.
Keep on making the best Sega content on UA-cam!
It's a cool little random fighter, not my favorite fighting game on the system but I give it props for being so original
amazing channel i found today! finally someone talks about Fighters Megamix! i sub!!
i wish this game was a little easy to emulate haha
Old video game music... incredible
One of my favorite Saturn games. If Sega were to make a Saturn Mini (probably never will) this should be one of the games included imho.
RIP to Bernie Stolar, but I despised that man for a great many of my teenage years. Fantastic video, dude! Keep them coming!
I love your channel!
I love the quick "stupid SOAB" REF!!! Sega Lord X for life!!!
I remember the Daytona usa car fighter as well
this is definitely my favorite saturn fighting game
Anyone remember the cool After Burner plane flyover ? You had to plug in two pads , push a sequence of buttons simultaneously on both pads before the fight began and on round 1 you'd get the After burner plane fly over the ring!
