Impunity is a word which often gets thrown around casually, but it is now clear that our governments, legal system etc act not only with impunity, but with absolute certainty that not only will they face no consequences at law, or even to reputation, but that they literally can and will wave away any and all evidentiary claims as something not worthy of their consideration because THEY alone define what actions are worthy of punishment and what are to be celebrated and promoted. There is no honesty, no shame, no accountability, not even a whiff of embarrassment nor should there be; as far as they’re concerned you, we, all of us useless eaters are all unworthy, expendable outsiders, we’re not in The Party and will never be. The lies are too great now, the tangled web too incoherent, they simply cannot let go of a single loose thread lest the whole tapestry unravel.
After all that's happened, and is happening in Australia, and in the rest of the world, with the blessings of our government and the opposition, this is so true.
Our Democracy is Meritocracy evolved Corporatocracy. Technocratic-order comes next. Capitalism equals survival of the fittest and like the debt-based system, cannibalizes.

A young college student back in the 80's, worked for the Department of Defense. At the end of the fiscal year, that department had tons of money left. They blew that money on all kinds of non-essential things. When I asked why, they was told if we don't spend it, next year they will reduce our budget.. That's called a 'use-it-or-lose-it' budget and is exactly how governments become so bloated and wasteful.
As long as housing keeps rising no one can get ahead. Some tax concessions have to wind down and governments should be audited for favouring lobbyists to make policies
The Australian economy is weak. It relies on coal, iron ore and other commodities exports which generate huge income for the country which then feeds into all other industries. So even though these other indudtries arent directly contributed to mining they are largely dependent on mining. Most people dont get this and subsequently dont understand how negative government policy effects this. Job creation is largely in Government jobs or indirect Government jobs such as the NDIS. Australians have allocated wasteful capital into housing which is nothing more than a ponzi scheme. We have stolen from our children so we can feel rich. The Australian economy is an unproductive asset ran by incompetent people. Inflation definately has not gone as energy prices continue to rise due to the crippling nett zero energy policy which basically affects the cost base of everything. Good luck turning the ship around.
I wouldn't look over there to find a solution. Debt servicing on their tens of trillions of loans is costing them a trillion a year now and that's only sustainable (arguably) because we use the USD for pretty well everything we do offshore. They're in worse position than us and Trump is just going to make it more messy. There's no material difference between him and his opposition.

A few things to assist with clarity. 1. Australia is a Continent, not a Country. 2. It is a Commonwealth Nation, not a Country. 3. The only inhabited Continent in human history to be 'ruled' by a Centralist Mechanism. 4. 3 levels of govt costing 12.5million revenue producers greater than AU$2.8billion a day. 5. Govt sector (minus military) av yearly incomes is on a gearing of 1:1.60(+plus generous entitlements) against the revenue producing private sector yearly av income. 6. One member state delivers 77+% of entire continents export earnings annually.
The government sector is the only thing keeping it all afloat the moment. Government is the underlying root cause of all the crises.. Government and government sector jobs don't produce anything. Time for cuts all round. Real cuts.

Too much public spending. There was a recession that we had to have.

We desperately need a Trump like leader here in Australia or our future is toast.

Nope 35 trillion debt is not great

NAB slashes variable rates by 40 basis points
What happened to higher and higher?
That's more about inter-bank competition: see the BBSW.

NAB knows rates are set to fall and is getting on the front foot
Gold down two month low & Dow rally down slightly, obviously the markets biggest worst fear was not Trump
You just can’t see it can you.
welcum back Fergie
