all the guys iv seen play this game say this is soo hard oh no , turns out they dont use the resources play this game like farmville , jeez and im sitting here wanting to play this game so much , cant get the damn game coz ppl like these have already bought the beta keys out
its funny, last episode he capitalised that he wanted to USE THAT IRON HE FOUGHT TO LANDGRAB,TO GET SOLDIERS WITH GUNS AND ITS INFURIATING THAT HE DIDNT AND HE DIED
I think your weakness is that you put your tents right besides the walls, this way if one passes through it's over. Also, you should build more than 1 wall line to where you can back off.
Maaan, frustrating seeing the horde creeping towards the southwest part of the walls while you were building ballistas to the east and being all happy about your defences! xD Looking forwards to getting this game. :)
Per Holmgren Excatly my thoughts. He doesn't know what south is. He clearly was building up defense on the East and sitting pretty pleased with himself. I glad that he got wiped out, definitely deserved that.
AH - wall jumpers - that's what took out my base yesterday... I was raging as I had such good defenses and just couldn't see how they got in! Will keep an eye out for that.
ive played maybe 20 hours on the game now and didnt know those white coat long hair bitches jump walls lol, im pretty turtley in RTS's so my defenses are water tight for a few units on their own, wondered what was special about those ones always showing up first
"They are actually, probably my number one most frustrating mob in the game." Do you have the time to talk about our lord of destruction and mayhem, Spitters...?
I highly doubt every zombie has any kind of advanced AI, it would be highly inefficient. If they check for defenses and such, it's done by an AI "director" which checks your defenses and then it either chooses to send an attack straight up or notifies loose zombies in a radius to attack said spot. There is likely a horde AI like Dead Rising or Project Zomboid (Days Gone probably too) as well, that bunches up a lot of zombies overriding their base AI and sends them where it wants to.
build that f*** warehouse...would help u a lot. U produces with every tick 22 wood and have a cap of 50..... so 2,xx ticks and every tick further was wasted.
well when you have space you should be building tents, when you don't have space you build cottages also he didn't group his houses efficiently, late game you wanna have areas with bank and marketplace full of houses
You finally figured it out; put your soldiers back behind the rangers to shoot only when they get into danger. You will find it works much better. Not only that, but the redheads will become blondes; they are upgraded to veterans!!!
I aggressively expand right at the beginning so I can capitalize on all available resources, then I train a death squad of 5 soldiers and they can handle all the QRF needs and horde clearing. Than I turtle up on my 6 or less walls and bunker down. That usually works for me.
Love watching you play and comment on this game! I have 40 hours in this game and i have never had a harpy(wall jumper) successfully cause any problems. I'm just lucky i guess.
Honestly, you had plenty of warning to get your guys over to the gate they went for. It was pretty obvious for a while that they were going for the other gate, but you kept talking instead of paying attention to the swarm coming in on the minimap.
You should try having an extreme number of wood mills (3-4), and keep laying wall after wall, with a ton on military on each wall. Fall back points are extremely useful.
One thing I would suggest man is using a single ranger to pull the zeds towards your towers. This works allot better than running a group of guys back and forth as you are losing time on target. With just one guy doing the footwork you would have the other three firing for maximumz murderz. I have even built towers out away from walls to do this with
NateGamer192 nope rangers are good for expanding. They dont draw in runners like the soldiers do. The soldiers are good for behind the wall defence. Unless taking a city than about 25 soldiers are better yes. But normal expanding is better with rangers
This. 1000 times this. It's like spamming militia in age of empires mid/late game or any other first/basic unit in an RTS. This is common sense, this is the most basic concept of an RTS. You don't spam begginer units, especially not rangers compared to soldiers just because they don't make quite as much noise. As you saw rangers still attract streams of zombies but are much worse in dealing with them, much worse in pushing out which is why it took so long to get extra land, and much worse defending your base. You make this game much harder for yourself than it needs to be splatter, lmao.....
Straight up, soldiers rock. Even for expanding! When I expand I get a team of soldiers to go clear out an area as the nearby zombos all are attracted to the noise and then are killed by the wall of bullets. Rangers are just to weak for anything save scouting and suuuper early defense.
no not really edward, they are good for behind the wall combat (also have snipers) but the archers are better to spam in early days and for expansion. ive played i think above 25 hours in it now xd search me on steam hollyh88 add me too if you feel like it :)
That horde was clearly visible on the mini map NOT going where you thought it was going. Can’t believe you didn’t check it. You would have held if you’d been paying attention to what was important.
i somehow lasted to day 56 on my first playthrough with a freakin city not that far away (and a massive gap to block off said city). Was surprised lol. Stupid horde around that time came through a crack between the mountains where i had little defenses :P
I love RTS games like this. They're my favorite kind of game to play... but I hate micro-managing. Much prefer the older games that require tactics more than quick button pushing.
Every time a game like this comes along I laugh at the AAA industry. It has no clue what gamers want. This game, cuphead, hollow knight are all incredible games.
This map you had the same issue as before - You put your housing right next to your walls, as soon as the jumper made it over, the game was lost. You were also wasting resources making Rangers instead of Soldiers, you had all the excess Iron that was going to waste whereas you should've been switching out your Rangers to build Soldiers at that point.
dont build your tents so close to eachother and segment your base into individual branches to contain the zits better and keep them from spreading so quickly. build a stronger figthing force as well, archers seem to be weak af. good game play
hey, splat i don't know if you noticed, but you set a checkpoint for that military building. Makes the whole "assigning people to location-thing a bit easier. Just an fyi.
Been a sub on and off since one hundred thousand,I’ve always enjoyed your vids man, been watching them when my house becomes a war zone of hate.I appreciate your channel, gets me through these fucked parts of life
Right there we got the dudes and we want them to go right there, so right there, they should be fine with that. They should be fine with that right there. I really want to be greedy right here and right there so we get a little archers right there. Looks good. Looks good right there.
Ive had this game on my wishlist since I saw the trailer....good to know its got your attention. Its def a gotta have for me. Just wish most of these games would hurry and release to steam cause im running out of cool games ot play!
I can understand from a mechanical standpoint why you'd add challenge by having the AI scan your defenses for the weakest point...but it seems a little cheap. It seems to force you to play with the same strategy every time, reinforcing every location equally, rather than making tactical decisions about what needs more protection and what is at greater risk of being attacked. The AI doesn't have to send in units to get vision, they just automatically know where to go from miles out. Having an omniscient opponent that never makes the wrong choice just seems a little out-of-place for game about fighting mindless zombie hordes - might be a little more believable if they were killer robots or something like that (which could still work within the aesthetic).
Now i'm catching up to your videos, so you might have already started doing this, but my advice would be to scout out much further with a ranger to see how horde can actually approach your base. /continues watching next videos
Have you tried just expanding like crazy but putting your tents spread out and get few walls so in this method you rely on the distance between your infrastructure to kyt the enemy and if they take a tent it won't be so bad.
You want tents, cottages, houses all clumped close together so that when you place a bank it covers them all in it's area. Banks for houses (Warehouses for farms/quarries) only enhance the buildings inside the area of effect they have. You kinda need the bank/housing combo if you're going to have an economy stong enough to build enough defenses to survive the final wave at day 93-ish.
Sean O'Connor Personally, I can deal with the way he builds, because I'm not much better myself. I'd honestly much rather he have more environmental awareness, and, well, in this game, that means looking at the fucking map.
i cant be the only one who cringed while watching this, i haven't played the game (but im on the waiting list) and i would have been producing soldiers much sooner and watching that horde was agonizing... i knew it was one of two spots and he loaded up on only one and i just slowly and helplessly watched the horde move to where i knew it was going. especially after saying the hordes keep track of your defenses and he loads up! oh well, good fun
He was in non economical state spamming soldiers + they are really not needed until a bit later on, archers work just fine. It's the lack of him giving a shit for the current run he had after noticing he fucked up in the start with building placement
u need to expand faster. get a group of 30-40 rangers and start clearing good quality areas with large land areas and good resources. take over and wall them. tech up asap and get titans. put ballistas on all your walls
Jayson Frankrone nope it actually does that. It waits and checks your defenses. I often had big defenses in which they had options to take on specific wall locations on the west. They came from the west. My middle sections which led directly to my main building was heavily defended the other 2 leaded off into branches of multiple wall sections. That were not as defended (didnt have the tesla coils yet) and it looked like they were going to hit the middle up untill the last second. But then they branched out split up into 2 forces and went for the other 2 sections. And i was a bit prepared but still lost 2 branches on the left and 1 on the right. They are extreemly smart. Its one of the best ai that i have ever seen or even seen lately in all the games that have been published. This one is the most brutal. As if you played against a very skilled player that controlled the zombies.
lol way too much credit given to the AI in this game it just does a check for the least resistance then runs at you, does no on the fly thinking... but zombies with obvious situational awareness wouldnt be very zombie like so it fits
If this is the case, I strongly dislike the way that sounds. But that's just me. I prefer more zombie-like gameplay. As in, oh hey look, a bunch of brain-eating idiots are walking into my walls. But I'll probably still play the shit out of this game. Can't wait until release
already have 34 hours now. I love that the ai is actually smart. this makes for good compelling gameplay. I would hate it if the ai was dumb af and would make me win easily.thankfully this isn't the case, and this is a game for people that want to play a better ai instead of those that are limited to the gameplay level. For example in command and conquer easy ai is easy ai. in this game even easy ai is brutal asf. because it's not about the ai its about the horde of zombies or its strength but the ai is still brutally good.
too bad its not real life zombies but ingame zombies. its a very good game and as a pretty good gamer i like that i am faced with more diffecult situations in a game with zombies. and not some game that can be easily beaten and is very boring.
Nice try mate. I was already looking at that mini map going like dude check it. You gotta watch the other wall bulldoze houses get balistas quick!!!! But too late. The wall jumpers and such an issue they are only 1 and get in your wall and can be shot down easily. The problem are those venom spitting a holes in massive hordes. That will spit on your buildings and infect them without even touching them (i wish they changed it so this wouldnt happen to stone buildings only beginning tier) but sadly it does. And those fuck you over quite quickly
if you have a good map, before starting to play create a back up of the save file, when you're fcked just delete the save file and replace by your back up file to start again in that map
sure, if you need and want to cheese to win, but most of us dont want to and dont need to ;) the map was fine, his ranger spam taking 2 hours to get new land and as a poor base defense, was the problem.
you need to stop spamming rangers at the start of your game, one of the only big mistakes you still make. you only need a couple to carefully push out into iron for soldiers but you already have iron. Soldiers actually don't attract much more attention when clearing hordes - you'll still have streams from time to time coming at your rangers and they are much worse (in general) at dealing with it. Soldiers may attract more but carefully managed 5, or 10 or more can go anywhere as they are much better to compensate, they may attract more but they can kill much more anyway. Rangers are quickly outdated - it's like spamming militia in age of empires up into mid/late game. Lol. This is also why you're having so much trouble pushing out: 15:40
*has loads of iron and food, doesn't build good soldiers*
Mad Miner Michael thank you exactly what I was about to say.
you don't need them if you know how to play the game.
Yeah but umm he got slaughtered
all the guys iv seen play this game say this is soo hard oh no , turns out they dont use the resources play this game like farmville , jeez and im sitting here wanting to play this game so much , cant get the damn game coz ppl like these have already bought the beta keys out

Matheus Navarro Nienow His weakness is not watching the fucking map.
Was I the only one watching the horde go left and say out loud "dude, they aren't attacking there!!!"
Nope. I was actively screaming at my screen, "LOOK AT THE FUCKING MAP, YOU IMBECILIC ASSCLOWN!!!"
Wasn't he talking in like Episode 2 or 3 of taking iron early to get soldiers early? So.. where are they?
"I've played this game ALOT"
>misses all the archers he trained 15 minutes eariler
A LOT*
I love this game's series, another run would be amazing
Maaan, frustrating seeing the horde creeping towards the southwest part of the walls while you were building ballistas to the east and being all happy about your defences! xD

Per Holmgren Excatly my thoughts. He doesn't know what south is. He clearly was building up defense on the East and sitting pretty pleased with himself. I glad that he got wiped out, definitely deserved that.
focus on the mini map, actually you can see where the attack coming from.
AH - wall jumpers - that's what took out my base yesterday... I was raging as I had such good defenses and just couldn't see how they got in! Will keep an eye out for that.
Just wait till you encounter spitters, aoe green acid attacks hitting your turrets/soldiers behind the walls.
ive played maybe 20 hours on the game now and didnt know those white coat long hair bitches jump walls lol, im pretty turtley in RTS's so my defenses are water tight for a few units on their own, wondered what was special about those ones always showing up first
just wait till you see a giant one; and im not talking about those fat fucks of 200 health ohhh no xd way worse
"They are actually, probably my number one most frustrating mob in the game."
Do you have the time to talk about our lord of destruction and mayhem, Spitters...?
I highly doubt every zombie has any kind of advanced AI, it would be highly inefficient. If they check for defenses and such, it's done by an AI "director" which checks your defenses and then it either chooses to send an attack straight up or notifies loose zombies in a radius to attack said spot.

Splattercat if you feel depressed its ok you can talk, i mean 6 hours straight of this shit must be tough
ive never been much for rts but I can't stop watching this series
build that f*** warehouse...would help u a lot. U produces with every tick 22 wood and have a cap of 50..... so 2,xx ticks and every tick further was wasted.
Cool! Against jumpers, build ballista in tight spots and like Gandalf said - "You should not pass!"
update your tents into cottages
well when you have space you should be building tents, when you don't have space you build cottages
also he didn't group his houses efficiently, late game you wanna have areas with bank and marketplace full of houses
Another episode please!!! I can't get enough.
RTSs are not necessarily about micro-management, that was what starcraft brought to the geanera.
lol that jumper just jetted past your group and screamed YOLO as he passed lol
I think your kryptonite to wall jumpers is because your tents are so densely packed once a single zombie gets in you're hosed.
you are my new favorite youtuber. You play some awesome games that other youtubers don't. Keep doing what you are doing.
My favorite UA-cam gaming channel!!!
Great commentary. As we say in northern England, you have the 'gift of the gab'.
You finally figured it out; put your soldiers back behind the rangers to shoot only when they get into danger. You will find it works much better. Not only that, but the redheads will become blondes; they are upgraded to veterans!!!
"Im not an RTS player." "I made an impenetrable base and still wiped" these statements made me cry
I aggressively expand right at the beginning so I can capitalize on all available resources, then I train a death squad of 5 soldiers and they can handle all the QRF needs and horde clearing. Than I turtle up on my 6 or less walls and bunker down. That usually works for me.
That zombie had a nasty vertical bruh. Hopped that shit like a fence.
I like this game "ever so slightly" from episode to episode.
Splattercat, at the start of a new game surround your HQ with tents to save safe, dont pop them all over the place
Love watching you play and comment on this game! I have 40 hours in this game and i have never had a harpy(wall jumper) successfully cause any problems. I'm just lucky i guess.
or you know how to play a rts, as he stated he's not a rts guy really :D
Jeez, one single guy, that just jumped the wall
Honestly, you had plenty of warning to get your guys over to the gate they went for. It was pretty obvious for a while that they were going for the other gate, but you kept talking instead of paying attention to the swarm coming in on the minimap.
Yeah how dare he commentate to us on his playing. Pure silence so he can focus at being good!
Thank you for the second play through, I can’t wait to see if you go through another one. Thanks cat.
You should try having an extreme number of wood mills (3-4), and keep laying wall after wall, with a ton on military on each wall. Fall back points are extremely useful.

omg! A new episode!!!!!!! is it a dream?
No. But it is a series ;)
>:(
RivenDawn yes...
oh hell yeah, watched the other 4 episodes last night and hoped all day that you would continue. :D
Splat you have to build soldiers not rangers RANGERS ARE ALMOST USELESS once you surpass wave one for anything except scouting
NateGamer192 nope rangers are good for expanding. They dont draw in runners like the soldiers do. The soldiers are good for behind the wall defence. Unless taking a city than about 25 soldiers are better yes. But normal expanding is better with rangers

I really love this game I think it’s such a unique concept and I would love to see a lot more of this on the channel, like if you agree
Splat the time traveler on his own game. Ohh yeah...
Probably keeping all your houses central and having multiple layers of walls will keep those wall jumpers out
That horde was clearly visible on the mini map NOT going where you thought it was going.
This game looks amazing.
I love RTS games like this. They're my favorite kind of game to play... but I hate micro-managing. Much prefer the older games that require tactics more than quick button pushing.
This game should be called "well there is a few zombies"
Dude this game and video series is awesome!! I love your commentary!
I'm not into these types of games, but I enjoy it. Great series btw.
Every time a game like this comes along I laugh at the AAA industry. It has no clue what gamers want. This game, cuphead, hollow knight are all incredible games.
Thus playthrough shall not end

He didn't consider any advice we gave him from previous videos :(
OK although he did learn some things on his own.
I think its sadder than i watched you play all last night xD
ya got food, metal, workers, wood, and lots of space, but ya DON'T GOT NO GUNS. It was funny to watch tho
making groups makes micro managing easier (ctrl+1,2,3 etc. most rts games do this)
Excellent thanks Splatt
this game looks so awesome. I am going to buy the crap out of this as soon as its available on steam
Do the special infected only jump one tile inside your walls so you could perhaps employ the spike pits as a defense?
You kinda need the bank/housing combo if you're going to have an economy stong enough to build enough defenses to survive the final wave at day 93-ish.
the horde went left the second they spawned in... should of waited on the ballista until you saw where they wanted to go...
I subbed just for this series.... keep it up
Love this game! Want more!
The oringy stuff looks like copper. Maybe for electronical purposes?
your building needs to be neater lol. all those houses bunched together messed you up
Sean O'Connor Personally, I can deal with the way he builds, because I'm not much better myself. I'd honestly much rather he have more environmental awareness, and, well, in this game, that means looking at the fucking map.
Ok did anyone else see something run across his screen 15:36
Those damn crows
Watch out there's a "Zombie Swarn"
Wall jumpers puts the end of interest in this game for me!
more please kind sir
That unit leaps at infantry, if you build ballista towers instead of manned towers. That wont happen
Walljumper? thats why you need to train atleast a few sniper to guard your districts
I gotta get this game, looks gr8.
Restart and do longer videos
How is a almost half hour video not long enough haha
Nice serie Splat !,i keep getting recked past day 70 damn those fattys, great game though :p
Did anyone else realize he said pylon like the thing from Starcraft
Should play a full play through of 100 days for the youtube channel
Hey SplatterCat do you know when steam early access is going to be up because until it is no more beta players are allowed
whever I watch a video about the game, there are never any billions. Dozens at best
Love this game!

get a group of 30-40 rangers and start clearing good quality areas with large land areas and good resources. take over and wall them. tech up asap and get titans. put ballistas on all your walls
i really want this game, it looks great, anyone know something like it while waiting for launch?
Nah pretty sure the horde just took the shortest path. I doubt a game involving zombies would have them smart enough to scan your base for defenses.
Jayson Frankrone nope it actually does that. It waits and checks your defenses. I often had big defenses in which they had options to take on specific wall locations on the west. Walls can go diagonally.
when does this game get released to public?
dude.... don't erase your inner wall
those are called harpys
@ 3:11 little bit Paranoid? :)
Good advice @ 3:21
splat the gamer
Nice try mate. I was already looking at that mini map going like dude check it. You gotta watch the other wall bulldoze houses get balistas quick!!!! But too late.

HOLY FUCK TRAIN GUN SOLDIERS YOUR FUCKING KILLING ME MAN YOU HAVE IRON SITTING AROUND DOING NOTHING
if you have a good map, before starting to play create a back up of the save file, when you're fcked just delete the save file and replace by your back up file to start again in that map
sure, if you need and want to cheese to win, but most of us dont want to and dont need to ;) the map was fine, his ranger spam taking 2 hours to get new land and as a poor base defense, was the problem.
only backup if you really like the map, i didnt have any map saved cause every map buttfcks me and i keep spreading my buttcheeks for a new one,
no whis the problem was the wall jumper that fuckt him over and got in his base
you need to stop spamming rangers at the start of your game, one of the only big mistakes you still make. you only need a couple to carefully push out into iron for soldiers but you already have iron. Rangers are quickly outdated - it's like spamming militia in age of empires up into mid/late game. Lol. This is also why you're having so much trouble pushing out: 15:40
Whiskiz Can't you at least upgrade militia in age of empire. In this game you Can't even do that so they are even worse.
