God, thank you so much for this lake! Thank you for blessing this ground and healing it. Thank you for fishing and great catches. Thank you for beauty here. Thank you for love and grace and for preparing the ground without. Thank you for restoration In Jesus name. Amen 🙏
Out in woodland park there’s a place called Turkey tracks It’s a 24 hour un supervised shooting range 10 miles or so away from deckers I never knew this lake was out there I always fish the platte when I go let off some freedom seeds But now gonna go check this lake out this weekend Bring a tub of leaches and a dozen of minnows And tie a few flies up Tight lines
I fish this lake I can tell you that leaving the hook in the fish and returning it is not a good idea. Reason is that there is a lot of Pelicans who eat these fish and more than likely the hook will wind up in the birds.
you can get a free colorado fish and wildlife brochure, in it for sports fishermen, it read that with a quick examination, if the fish is gut hooked, and you don't feel like keeping the fish for some reason, cut the line as close as you can to the hook, and then release, i have caught a few fish that have been gut hooked before, where the line was still outside the mouth, but typically as long as the hook isn't blocking the mouth entry way for food they will live.
its god you care about the handling. I'd say cut the line vs pulling on it or trying to do surgery. Use then wire "circle" hooks when bait fishing. Bait fishing is not great for catch and release//as you are finding out. Also don't handle them with gloves or rags.... you don't want to remove their protective slime coating..try to keep them in the water when de hooking. Use pliers to crush the barb or use barbless hooks. Barbless is much less of a hassle in clothing etc anyway and def safer if it gets in an eye etc....extra useful when a bunch of kids are fishing.
Actually, that is why people are watching the videos on this channel. These are tourist type videos explaining the amenitites of each area that I go to so people know what to expect. Stop watching if you don't like it.
