Another FABULOUS vlog! Thoroughly enjoyed! Guess I'll have to wait and see if you went to Arthur C Clarke's home. (2001 Space Oddessy) he apparently lived in Colombo for over 35 years. Also doing my research, found that Sri Lanka was quite the global destination for intellectuals and hippies........ Baqir talpur tuk tuk’s were $15 USD/ day when I rented one 4 years ago. Lol

You guys are simply awesome. Have never watched a detailed episode like this. Man that Tuk Tuk ride would have been exhausting. The spot where you stopped near the ruins of a building called the Doric Bunglow, Sri Lanka's First governors's bunglow ( Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford ).
The first governor, Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford was the son of British Prime Minister, Frederick North (2nd Earl of Guilford). The house was planned by the governor himself, the building was later known as 'The Doric' due to the architectural design of the columns which was similar to the Ancient Greek Doric order style. It was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century (between 1801-1804)[3] to revive and supervise the pearl fisheries (source: Wikipedia).
You have entered Jaffna from Poonaryn side crossing the lagoon over "Sangupiddy Bridge). Poonaryn was a strong hold of the LTTE before the end of the war which lasted for 30 years.

We visited Sri Lanka last September and did a 9 day tour of the island. My wife and I are former Sri Lankans presently living in the U.S. since 1984. There were 14 Australians in our group. Kandy was one of our stops. We had to hire 6 tuk tuks in Kandy to ride up to Sri Lankan artist Raju's Home .It was not accessible by our tour bus. But it was fun when the tuk tuk that we were in, couldn't pull up the steep hill. So we had to step out and walk up the rest of the way. In my younger days in Sri Lanka I owned a Lambretta Scooter, which I used for 14 years touring many parts of the island. Great video... congrats from Syracuse NY.

Kudos to you guys for your adventurous trip around Sri Lanka. It is commendable that you guys are doing less touristy things but discovering the country in your own unique & a local way. I being a Sri Lankan I've never thought of travelling to Jaffna by a tuktuk which I think is very cool that you guys did it and experienced little things that matter the most such as food, people, places and different cultures. Yes we know, we like our budget hotels and hostels. We will stay there a lot this trip. But we like to get adventurous and camp too 😊

For the people who want to travel in a comfortable manner, you have those facilities as well here in Sri Lanka. This route is not the popular route to travel jaffna. Jaffa is actually 7-8 hours ( nearly 400km ) away from Colombo. ✌️✌️😉
