The end of Summer will be spent harvesting and preserving my garden produce. it is a busy month for the garden. Thanks for sharing your time and talents with us, you are missed when you are gone. Enjoy these weeks with your daughter and your family.
Your garden looks beautiful! It was fun seeing your cross stitch collection. I look forward to watching you and was happy when I saw you had a new video posted. Be safe and enjoy your children while they are still home.
That stitched donut/wreath is a hoot. Like, was that ever considered...cute? The pattern itself is so pretty and holds great potential.I'm sure you'll do it justice. The end of Summer will be spent just like the beginning and the in-between, trying to stay cool and avoiding the humidity. Wishing your daughter a successful return to school~
My sister sells ColorStreet and the nail strips are wonderful just like you said. She has done very well and is a director with a large team under her. Good luck with the whole school situation. I give thanks that my kids are well past that in their 30s. I stitch all day and wish all my flosstubers had as much time to stitch too. ❤️🧵😊
Lovely to see a video from you! Strawberry Blonde reminds me of William Morris's Willow wallpaper/fabric design. Super! Love all the Carriage House patterns and Kathy Barricks! Stay safe and be well. xx
Looking forward to quilting three philanthropy quilts and finish piecing Lori Holt’s Good Morning Mugs table runner for me. I’m working on the Cross-stitch chart ’Suffrage Act’ and ‘a few others’! Starting each summer day with an early morning walk with a friend is the most enjoyable way to get some exercise and socializing in before getting involved with my projects. This week brings extra walks since my grand dog has come to visit. Always fun to plan some social distancing, masked visits with friends in the park. Thank you for your videos and a look around your beautiful property… I thoroughly enjoy it all!
Barbara Chase thank you! My husband is encouraging me to walk but the last few days I refused - toooo hot! Even first thing early in the morning! But as it gets cooler, I’ll try to follow your example!😀
@@valerie-stitchinginthebarn723 ‘Tooo hot’ is a good reason to forgo the walk. The challenge is in finding anytime to walk during this season. Have you tried a cool tie?
For the rest of the summer I will try to finish some small patriotic charts and work on Halloween charts. Glad you had a good birthday. You should continue to celebrate. I think because of the pandemic you are entitled to a few extra days of celebration. So glad to see you again. I so enjoyed your chart parade. I have to add a few things to my wish list.
Sometimes floss tubers will ask if you could only choose one designer to stitch who would it be. Well, my question is a bit different. If you could only chose patterns from one floss tuber's stash who would you chose. I would chose you, Valerie. Your stash is amazing! Every time I watch one of your videos I wish I lived next door to you and had permission to borrow patterns. Heck, if I sneaked in late at night you wouldn't even miss one or two patterns. I stitch one project at a time so I could give it back fairly quickly. You really could open a store. Good for you! Life is short... do what you love. Thanks for sharing. With love from Oregon, Valerie
Hi Fraktur Friend! I’m so sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday. 🎁🎂🎈🎉🎊 Glad it was a good one. Your trip sounded awesome and I enjoyed seeing your pictures of the trip at the end. You have so many beautiful things you’re working on. Go Valerie Go!!! If your charts weren’t big, B Bop would work. Lol. Hope your daughter has a safe semester. It sounds like the school plan is good. Miss you but glad to see you looking so well.
We have been spending more time at our house in the mountains as the summer continues. It has been very hot, but is lovely up here. Since my husband and I are working remotely and the kids are attending college virtually, it doesn’t matter where we are!
Hello Valerie, sorry about the air conditioning in your barn...you trip sounded nice...we have been staying in side due to Covid 19 and the very hot weather we have had..Prayers for you daughter as she goes back to school... I plan to work the rest of summer with my granddaughter (14 yrs) on learning to quilt from the FQS...and then doing a Jelly Roll quilt with her too...she is a lot of fun...best wishes for you and family...happy stitching❤️
Love seeing all your stash. I don't feel so bad as I could open a shop with my stash and Flosstube is enabling me even more. Oh well, I love it all just like you do. For some reason, I had trouble hearing you this time. I had my volume turned all the way up and sometimes could barely hear you. The last two weeks of August I am going camping in the mountains for the end of the summer. So sad, it is almost over. Happy Stitching! and Be Well.
Summer keeps us all very busy so I understand your not having the time to spend here, but still so look forward to seei ng you and what you are up to, be safe till next time! Love stitching anything with a bee hive and combined.with the Red, White and.Blue! Hugs.
Beautiful vacation pictures! We also live in a 200 year old house, in Maine. We also have a cellar, not a basement, and we have a French drain, which I refer to as the “Hidden River”. Although it’s disconcerting to hear running water in your house, it is an efficient way to move it all through and out!
Adina Salmansohn sounds gorgeous. Where in Maine? (One of my favorite, soul- enriching places!!!) we have a French drain too, but we got over seven inches in a few hours and it couldn’t keep up!
Hi Valerie! Last 2weeks of summer will hopefully be nice and quiet. Been a little hectic with working morning, noon night and weekends. Lol. Everyone has decided to refinance or buy new homes lol. Hoping to get a few days off in a September to head up to Amish country in Holmes County Ohio. I live near Cincinnati. Good luck moving your daughter into school.
A belated Happy Birthday! I have really enjoyed seeing your charts. Thanks for the pictures of NY. I lived in upstate for awhile and love that part of the state.
Good to see you again. Sounds like life is keeping you busy but you managed to have some pretty finishes . Love seeing your stash -you have some great patterns.
Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful charts and designs. I also have the Rodney and Rebekah charts by Kathy Barrick - love them!!! I've started a Halloween chart called Hello Halloween by Sue Hillis Designs, so i want to spend these next few weeks of summer planning what I would like to stitch for fall and winter and Christmas. Time goes so quickly. I use to say that all the old folks say that but I have crossed over and attained that status and find myself saying it all the time. Your pictures were beautiful. It must have been an amazing trip. Thanks for showing your beautiful stitching - Deana
Deana Lenkner haha - I know exactly what you mean about time. I am also starting to feel a yen for fall stitching, even though it’s been over ninety degrees for the past two weeks!
It’s always good to see you on Flosstube! I can’t believe summer is going so quickly. Summer is my favorite season, so I plan to enjoy it as long as I can!
I am stitching fall and Halloween items the end of this summer... Thank you for showing the patterns...I love seeing your collections of charts... See you next time!
Happy Birthday. All the best for the year ahead. Although you couldn’t come to Canada 🇨🇦 now, I hope you will be able to come when the world settles down. I enjoy listening to videos.
Happy birthday! Glad you were able to get away. Loved seeing your completed pieces. You do such a nice job. I made the Sew She Did by Its so Emma, looks nice in my sewing room! Even fit in a standard sized frame! Enjoy the rest of your summer, and hope all goes well with getting your daughter off to college. Judy Sigsworth
I'll be staying inside and stitching the next couple of weeks this summer. It is soooo hot outside here and it won't be cooling down anytime soon. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer Valerie!
Love listening to your calm voice. You have great patterns. I have pattern envy. Here in N.C. it’s summer for quite a while. Plan to work and continue stitching.
My cross stitch has been on hold for a while due to cataract surgeries & now its done I anxious to get back into it. So its nice to enjoy it vicariously through others. Hugs Mare
Great to see you again...was hoping that you were MIA due to having fun, and sounds like you did! Please continue to show your pattern stash...not boring at all, perhaps a bit enabling, but it's fun!!
Here in New England, we had a day this week that felt like fall - a sign of things to come. I will be so happy to see summer in the rear view mirror. Bring on the cool, crisp days!
hi val! thanks for sharing some of your stash! the last few weeks of summer i will be getting ready to start the new school year as a teaching assistant working with kids with special needs and of course fitting in some cross stitching and quilting. have a great end of summer. i'm from NY and have spent many vacations up in the adirondacks. glad you enjoyed it.
So lovely to visit with you! Love your flowers and wee hummingbird. Happy belated birthday 💐🎁🥳🎉 Quaker Tray piece is beautiful. Best of luck with the painting part. So enjoyed seeing the BAP patterns. How nice you could get away for a bit. I lived in Saranac Lake for some time . It certainly is lovely there but the winters were BRUTAL! Continue to take good care sweet friend 😘❤️ Rebecca
For the last 3 weeks of August I am diving into school to prepare virtual lessons for school. At night I make some time to stitch. Sad that summer is over.
My birthday is late in summer, last day of August. Soon after comes fall decorating and my favorite time of year. That wreath sampler pattern is intriguing. I’m going to have to look for that one! Thanks for your videos! Lynn in Indiana
Summer. the last weeks of August will be spent like the rest of the weeks til now ... staying close to home. Have been slowly getting my stitching space in order.
Good to see you as always. I wish your daughter well at college this fall. Loved the big project review....”Why haven’t I started this?”....I’ve heard that a lot lately...on other flosstubes and in my own sewing room earlier this week. That statement would make a great pattern! Good luck with the air conditioner repair. Hope it’s soon. Beautiful pictures of your trip.....looks restful. I for one would enjoy a quilt project lineup from the barn. Have a good week. Blessings and take care.
I like prim too but I did Sew She Did and have it on my door going into my sewing room. Love it! I thought about changing the colours to prim it up but decided a bit of colour going into my sewing room is a great thing so I did it exactly as charted. I found a frame that was made from yard sticks at the goodwill and that was perfect for it. Love seeing your charts. You have some great ones.
I will be watching how my garden grows for these last weeks of August summer and hoping to get enough tomatoes to make some sauce. And my stitching is mostly focused on Christmas ornaments. I also enjoy “looking” through your charts and patterns. Thanks for sharing.
I keep seeing stuff about those nails. May have to try. Never get tired of seeing all your stash! Jealous. The rest of the summer plans include an exciting agenda. Basically, staying inside avoiding this Georgia heat and getting sick! BUT, I am getting a lot of stitching done. See you in September!!!
This summer I have just maintaining my sanity! The rest of the summer I will be canning and swimming. Good to see you again😀 Wondering if you are aware of the many commercials on this video...at least 6! If so, I will still watch, love your videos Valerie!
Hi Valarie! Loved watching your Chart review 😊 so nice to meet you this weekend at dyeing to stitch retreat! Yes I know, I went back to or more years😂😂😂😂 hope your basement is finally dry! Lol… see you tomorrow for Brenda Gervais at the country club🎉🎉🎉
Another great video Valerie! This summer I have been stitching Halloween. I want to have some more smalls for my Halloween tree. I hope all goes well with the preparation for your daughter’s return to school.
I plan to end the summer finishing a red sampler I found in an old Cross Stitch from a Country Garden and getting ready to stitch coming to America so I need a small to do along with the big one. Have fun getting the daughter ready to go back to college. Our granddaughter starts her first year of college UNC-G School of performing arts, o,excited and also scary.❤️
It's been over 100 degrees here for too long with the rest of August looking to be about the same. I'm done with summer! Bring on fall!!! Although I've been productive stitching inside with the A/C on!
For the rest of the Summer I need to get more yard work done, but it is too hot. Stitching always. Fall does make you want to get our the wool applique! The Missouri 200th Anniversay quilt will be touring in our area so that is a visit. And many projects. We have The Hickory Stick quilt shop in our town which is extremely nice and very dangerous....I must live to 500. Enjoy the end of Summer and coming Fall.
Haha! I was thinking the same thing about the Sampler Wreath pattern! Beautiful but not done that way! Oh my gosh.... I do love Strawberry Blonde and have it on my wish list. I have to buy that one for sure.
Hi! So glad to see you! Your finishes are awesome! And love watching pattern parades, wip parades! Love the hawk runs but oh that Autumn! Centre of the ‘doughnut’ you could put wrought by and your initials and mYbe a bit of vine or something as its pretty full of stuff allready. 💜💜. We don’t have a/c and inquired about heat pump and be end sept as so busy and can’t get all the equipment . Never this hot in Atlantic Canada, been hot since middle of June! And do humid.
Cindy Gaudet good donut ideas! And we are looking into getting a heat pump for the barn, but like you there are many on the waiting list ahead of us so it won’t be anytime soon!
Valerie - Stitching in the Barn we were not impressed with first company so called another and heat pump was installed yesterday. Granted it’s turned coole4 this week but hey it’s in and wa# $910 cheaper before our NS tax! Opps Nova scotia Canada 15%tax.
I love watching you show your charts, so you just keep them coming! I can't believe the summer is nearly over already, but time is flying. We have a week off Aug 31-Sept 4, but COVID, so we will be hanging around the house mostly. Look forward to your next video!
I think I would place a pillar candle in the center of the wreath sampler. I wouldn't stuff it. I'd probably use some stiff interfacing on the back of the stitched piece before sewing it to the backing.
I’m stitching stone street sampler schoolhouse Quaker in a cranberry silk on 36 ct grandpa’s sleeve! I’m stitching Autumn in August. Our grands are back in school down here. We’ll see how that goes. My middle son is arriving tomorrow for a visit after deployment. Our summer doesn’t really end for a few more months here. So, I may have some pool time to read!
I’ll be recuperating from replacement knee surgery and hopefully doing some stitching! “Summer” is not my favorite season any more , as the heat in Ohio seams way too hot 🥵 love watching your blog?
I've missed you. Just ordered on your party. What a great way to save money, have pretty toes and be safe. I would love the information on where you stayed in the Andirondacks. We are planning our next Eastern trip in Penn. and need ideas so I'll be bothering you . Thanks Valerie. My son teaches math in high school so I'm with you on the scary. Stay safe.
Iley Burkett thank you! As for the Adirondacks, we drove up through Milford PA and had a look at Gov Pinchot’s gardens at Grey Towers, (spent the night nearby) then carried on up and stayed in a friend’s house in Keene Valley for the rest of the week. Then on the way down spent the night in Old Forge, NY. My favorite kayaking and canoeing place was Follensby Clear Pond. We were surrounded at one point by about 12 loons and had a lovely little picnic on an island there. Hope you have a great trip!
Hi Valerie as always enjoyed watching and seeing your large charts, especially loved the sheep feed sack. For the rest of SUMMER I’m planning on putting some xxx’s into my Christmas gifts. Take care + see you soon Natalie x
Always so happy to see you! I have had a very hot summer here in CA this year and have done far too much complaining. Sorry everyone. My Grands are all getting ready to scoot off to college again as well and they will have 2020 stories to tell. Hugs
Actually working as summer comes to an end...expected high tomorrow is 107... I'm in Southern California...bleh!🔥I'm curious where you will put all those lovely pieces once they are stitched. Good to see you back.☺
Grandma Daisy I’m sad to say goodbye to Summer (except for excessive heat & humidity) but do love Autumn and am getting in the mood for Fall stitching!
I'll be mowing and stitching the rest of the summer and hopefully travel to see my kids in September. You have a great rest of the summer and stay well and cool!
It’s so wonderful catching up and hearing about all your stitching and vacation, what a beautiful area! Best wishes for your daughter’s return to school too! My summer finish is a trip to Mesa Arizona and attending The Attic Needlework summer school, I’m so looking forward to an amazing experience. After that I want a weekend at the beach but have Jury Duty for two weeks which may be a time conflict! I hope your air conditioner gets fixed soon and you can get in your space and create some beautiful quilts!
Thanks for all the good wishes. Have a super time at the Attic - I know you will!!! Hope your jury duty isn't too long a stint - do they allow cross stitch as you listen to the testimony??? ;)
I’ve been stitching all summer and will continue through the fall. I love your parade of patterns/charts. Like you I also have lots of quilts ready to go. Switching between stitching and quilting has been fun in sheltering in place. Stay safe.
The end of the summer will bring more quilting and beginning the Brenda Gervais Coming to America sampler. Have fun getting your daughter settled in college, it is a special time.
So many people talk about those nail things....everyone loves them. I plan to can the rest of the summer. Hopefully my tomatoes will ripen soon. I hope to start Blackbirds design Away we ride for fall.
The heat of summer has been so tedious. It's so nice to have floss tubes to motivate me. Your huge stash is very impressive!
The end of Summer will be spent harvesting and preserving my garden produce. it is a busy month for the garden. Thanks for sharing your time and talents with us, you are missed when you are gone. Enjoy these weeks with your daughter and your family.

I will be watching how my garden grows for these last weeks of August summer and hoping to get enough tomatoes to make some sauce. And my stitching is mostly focused on Christmas ornaments. I also enjoy “looking” through your charts and patterns. Thanks for sharing.
Summer we are in 103-105 degrees and around full-time work we’re glad we finally secured a couple of camping spots Aug & Sept.
Stay cool and stay well! Hope you get loads of stitching done.
This summer I have just maintaining my sanity! The rest of the summer I will be canning and swimming. Good to see you again😀 Wondering if you are aware of the many commercials on this video...at least 6! If so, I will still watch, love your videos Valerie!
Someone else alerted me to this and I looked into it - think I have it fixed now! (I hope!) :)
Someone else alerted me to that and I looked into it - checked some box by accident and now I think I have fixed it. (Hope so!)
I love summer stitching. Plan to work on my garden and stitch 3 hrs a day at least. Love this series of prim hoping to stitch it this fall
This is not me never comment on it. And have not joined sites under my name
Another great video Valerie! This summer I have been stitching Halloween. I want to have some more smalls for my Halloween tree. I hope all goes well with the preparation for your daughter’s return to school.
I love seeing your patterns! I always have my pen and paper ready❤
diana Wireman hope I showed some you like!😀
Yes, you showed more than one I liked! 🙂
I plan to end the summer finishing a red sampler I found in an old
Cross Stitch from a Country Garden and getting ready to stitch coming to America so I need a small to do along with the big one. Have fun getting the daughter ready to go back to college. Our granddaughter starts her first year of college UNC-G School of performing arts, o,excited and also scary.❤️
Wonderful! Good luck to your Granddaughter!
It's been over 100 degrees here for too long with the rest of August looking to be about the same. I'm done with summer! Bring on fall!!! Although I've been productive stitching inside with the A/C on!
Greetings! Glad your back! Happy stitching!
Jo Wahlgren thanks ! Happy stitching to you too!😀
I'm continuing stitching patriotic for the rest the summer....maybe even into fall.
Doris Sanders I’m right with you - hope I get to 500 too!🥴
I am ready for summer to be over. I’m ready for fall.
Haha! I was thinking the same thing about the Sampler Wreath pattern! Beautiful but not done that way! Oh my gosh.... I do love Strawberry Blonde and have it on my wish list. I have to buy that one for sure.
Lise Hebert sorry (not sorry 😂) to have enabled you!
The last weeks of summer I plan on staying in doors and stitching. It is very hot here in South Carolina
This summer will be finished with stitching and stitching! Thanks for the video. 🙂
Mrs. Flossy enjoy!!!
I'd probably use some stiff interfacing on the back of the stitched piece before sewing it to the backing.
rebeccasewing excellent ideas, thank you!
Judy Gibbons enjoy your family!!!
I’ll be recuperating from replacement knee surgery and hopefully doing some stitching! “Summer” is not my favorite season any more , as the heat in Ohio seams way too hot 🥵 love watching your blog?
So ready for fall. Summer has been so hot.
Thanks Valerie
I am going to organize(again) my threads this summer. Mary
Happy happy birthday Valerie ❤️❤️❤️
Stitching With The Sisterlies Thank you!!!😀😀
Just received a new pattern from stitching with the housewives and will start it as summer comes to a close.
Hi Valerie as always enjoyed watching and seeing your large charts, especially loved the sheep feed sack. For the rest of SUMMER I’m planning on putting some xxx’s into my Christmas gifts. Take care + see you soon Natalie x
Good for you working on Christmas gifts already! I always mean to but never seem to manage it!
Plan on kitting up more projects before summer ends!
Summer is the time to stitch.
Always so happy to see you! I have had a very hot summer here in CA this year and have done far too much complaining. Sorry everyone. My Grands are all getting ready to scoot off to college again as well and they will have 2020 stories to tell. Hugs
Kathie Richards I like your cheery approach to life! 😀😀
You have lots of beautiful projects. I planning to do lots of stitching for the rest of the summer. Hoping to finish United We Stand.
Melody Ritchie enjoy the rest of the long hot days!!!
I am looking forward to saying goodbye to summer and these hot humid days!
Michelle Mays yes indeed!
Just got onto you. Love your sampler choices. I am working on a Quaker I found on Pinterest.
Actually working as summer comes to an end...expected high tomorrow is 107... I'm in Southern California...bleh!🔥I'm curious where you will put all those lovely pieces once they are stitched. Good to see you back.☺
Waiting for summer to end. I need to get back up North and out of the humidity 😫
I will be glad summer will be done and Fall is soon us 😊❤ enjoyed seeing your charts, I have several of the same charts😂😂😂
Grandma Daisy I’m sad to say goodbye to Summer (except for excessive heat & humidity) but do love Autumn and am getting in the mood for Fall stitching!
I have his eye is on the sparrow to start soon!
I'll be mowing and stitching the rest of the summer and hopefully travel to see my kids in September. You have a great rest of the summer and stay well and cool!
Thanks! Have fun visiting your kids!
Stay safe.
Mary Smith you stay safe, too!
The end of the summer will bring more quilting and beginning the Brenda Gervais Coming to America sampler. Have fun getting your daughter settled in college, it is a special time.
Lynn Mischloney thank you! I’m excited for that Brenda Gervais pattern to release too!😀
So many people talk about those nail things....everyone loves them. I plan to can the rest of the summer. Hopefully my tomatoes will ripen soon. I hope to start Blackbirds design Away we ride for fall.
I would love to see your progress on away we ride! Love it, and I'm getting in the mood for Halloween/Fall stitching already!
It is so awesome to have you back on the screen! Have missed you, glad you are well!
Thank you so much!
