Ok watching today's Release 7 20 Paul's comment don't have a cool pocket like yours..pocket t's your there..and and everyone who doesn't like a kind of lafter..I feel sorry for them. Y'all rock
I know plenty of other people have said it, but Ben's been a great addition to the Fab Rats team. You guys are all awesome and make some great content.
I laughed when Ben said that your son would like to pickup and you said like it or not that’s what he has got. Reminded me of the time I bought my son a decent vehicle to go off to college and he wrecked it right away. So I went and bought him a used K-car LeBaron. He said it was an old man’s car. I told him to drive it accordingly then.😜
I started mowing lawns for cash when I was 11. At 12, I began working as a busboy and worked my way on up from there. I got my learner's driving permit the day I turned 15. That evening I bought my first car-and not one penny came from my parents. They were frugal and wouldn't even if I had asked. I was sheer hell on that old Mustang but I paid (sometimes dearly) for everything that was done to it out of my pocket. Soon, I realized that being out on my own meant no more tearing up my transportation and I calmed myself down. That was nearly 50 years ago. I'm still awaiting my first "participation trophy" along with my "white privilege" card. At least, I'm not holding my breath waiting for those silly things.
I always watch UA-cam at night, but I'm at home in bed trying not to let these damn kidney stones kill me, and other than the stones, I'm really enjoying watching this video this morning.
Tell your kids how lucky they are to have a dad like you…seriously. I didn’t have that luxury growing up and the times they get you spend with you teachIng them and helping them are priceless.👍👍
"Welp, in true Fab Rats fashion, we've made things worse then they were before" - Paul "We broke it" - Ben That part had me cracking up because it was such a brotherly moment of temporary defeat. We all knew it wouldn't last long though.

It's amazing how many nitzy fixes a person can do to a vehicle over the years. One compounding another. You forget about the last temporary fix because something else needs attention. I know this from experience. LOL Great job from the Fab brothers on search and destroy (search and fix) with this ol' truck.
Good job keeping your spirits up while keep solving yet another problem on it. I must say, seeing such a truck getting such maintenance is as rewarding to me as the special builds.

Paul and Ben thank you gentlemen so much for all the information you give to your audience as she do these jobs on the square body you give enough detail and explanation it really makes it interesting and very educational
So, youse guys are more entertaining than watching my chickens fight over a June bug. Seriously, good wholesome fun, entertaining and an easy learning experience! Thanks for what y’all do.
I recently sold an '84 Chevy K10 "heavy half", 4x4, 700R4, and the old 6.2 Diesel... (with Turbo)... I LOVED that truck. My Grandfather bought it brand new off the showroom floor. We kept it, and it barely survived my son. So we sold it to a guy in Idaho... I hope it finds new life up there... I would have held onto it, if I had known you needed one... A "race truck" it was not... but if you needed to tow or haul something, it would do it!
You guys rock. Such a great family oriented channel with real mechanical skills being shown. Keep up the great job! Michelle jammin to Baby Got Back - Classic!!!
I feel Landon’s pain, I blew up transmissions in my younger years! I can’t tell you how many th350 & 400’s I replace before my 21st Bday! I got so good I could R&R them in about 2 hours and I bench pressed them because I didn’t have a lift or a trans jack.
I’m glad I’m not the only thinking about transmission😅 17 years old with a 85 el Camino I’ve blown through two transmission so far I thought I was being stupid witch I am but I’m glad It’s just a normal thing that is younger guys like to do🤣 the burn outs or taking off are way to fun not to do soo
Funny Ed I had a 75 El Camino Sport at 17(50 now)! That car got me in a lot of trouble and probably went through 4 transmissions in it over the coarse of 3 years but I use to street drag with it and it was my daily driver!
That JB weld fix reminded me of something that I would have done in my 20s. I once had an 86 Bonneville that got a pin hole in one of the brake lines. I sanded it to rough it up, put a gob of JB weld on it, and wrapped it in paper towel to keep it in place until it set up. That fix worked great and out lasted the rest of the car. Lol
Yep ole JB done right fixes a lot. Had a similar problem with a pinhole in the corner of my gas tank on my first car, 69 Ford Falcon, after JB it never leaked an you couldn't tell it had been repaired. 👍
Bunch of fun! And the ending with a serendipitous CD find, the timing back into the workshop and Michelle couldn't have been better if you'd planned it (um, did you?). (Every time I saw the grille, my OCD wanted to grab side-cutters or hacksaw blade and take out the bars opposite the missing ones to make it symmetric.)
You know it's truly awesome to see you two brothers working together. I lost my brother in 2018 . We were close as well. Never lose that closeness it truly sucks not having my brother around. God bless you all and thank you for involving all of us in your wild and crazy fun life.
the 4.3 4 speed trucks are just amazing trucks on how long they can last. The old 4.3 I think is plenty for these trucks. goes down the road yet not enough power to break everything.
4:08 I broke the thermostat housing bolts off a truck just like this when I was a boy :) ... I drilled the broken bolts (not perfectly centered either) with tap drill size for 1/4" 20 and taped them. I meant it as a temporary fix, and planned to "add it on" next time my truck needed a real mechanic ... but it lasted longer than the truck did :)
All my life I was told you could fix anything with baling wire and duck tape. But apparently whoever owned that truck was told silicone and jb weld was the fix all 😂
@@michaelm.1947 did learn years ago that cloth hangers are nice to have around too. Not only do they come in handy when you’ve locked your keys in but can do some fine brazing when in need.
Back when I was a teen (I'm a grumpy old man now. LOL) and I got my first car, like most teens I too like to spin the tires. And I had a heavy foot also. But I soon found out it wasn't near as much fun or cool to spin the tires (do burn outs) when I started paying for the new tires. The money coming out of MY wallet. And also had to pay for the parts, and do the repairs, fix the things I tore up,. I had a loving Dad who with his help and guidance I learned a lot about fixing cars. And learned what NOT to do. That and 4 speeding tickets in 13 months, my foot suddenly became a whole lot lighter. ;) So there is hope for Landon. And I really like how you are showing your kids how to do repairs also. :)
Paul , I'm glad you brought Ben into the shop. You an he are great working together. Reminds me of me an my brother. And your positive attitudes and humer make it so much more enjoyable. And I have indeed changed a turbo 400 , with no jack,in a gravel parkinglot, with snow coming down. I know the pain and swear words
Had an 87 Silverado I bought new and absolutely loved. It had almost 200K when I had to trade for a crew cab. This brought back good memories. You and Ben work well together, at least on camera. He is a great add to the channel. Hope Landon appreciates all the work on his behalf and treats that old beauty with respect. He could learn some body work and make her pretty again.
It's so refreshing to watch you all. because you love what you do, and that's what makes you and your family and friends fun to watch! Also nice work on the "Golden Nugget!" Ed will shed a tear or two, from the love you and everyone involved with that project has shown to him! Keep doing what you do! I'll keep watching with a smile on my face and joy in my heart. Again Thank You All!
🤔 Hmmm, I wonder where Landon got the lead foot from? I love seeing brother's working together ❤️ Ben has been a great addition to the Fab Rats channel! Michelle showing her❤️‼️I love the square body!
Great episode, brought back memories of when I had to wrench on the boys first cars. Who am I kidding, still wrenching on their stuff from time to time.. lol Love the channel, keep up the good work and don't change a thing!!!!
this is great, one of my favorite episodes, love the tear down and investigation. then how you guys just bang the repairs out... I've done an engine swap on my Kawi Concours... done a bunch of brake jobs... that's about my limit. but I'd you guys do it right... enough... hahah great stuff.
When we were teenagers and our cars broke, our Dad would have us help fix it. He would show us or tell us what to do for the most part. That way we learned how to do it and the fact that we did it ourselves made us less likely to break things again. I was just wondering why Landon wasn't in there working with you guys since it's going to be his truck to drive ? I've seen him work on things before and he seems very capable.
Well, for one, he was filming half or more than half the time. Also, it's kind of (I don't mean to be rude) none of your business, especially considering that Landon did almost all of his first truck with Paul.
We had a 1959 DeSoto Station Wagon it also had a similar tool kit, push button automatic shifter. That thing was a boat. That was in the 60's when dad got it.
I love square body trucks, grew up driving an old one my dad gave me when I was 16. Can't tell you the amount of times I ran out of gas in it. Awesome video as usual!
That will make Landon a great rig, with plenty of room for future improvements and upgrades. Did you ever notice how the mechanical gremlins can appear out of thin air? If it was running we use to say, for Pete's sake don't touch it! Thanks, you guys are great.
You are a good dad. When my impala had one too many neutral slams and crapped the rear end and the trans at different times I had to eat both repairs with labor and funds. Needles to say lesson was learned and sweat equity was earned!
Really enjoy your vids, even when the chips are down you bring humour into the story. I like that your real and not attempting to make it glossy and pretend. As an aside where I live Landon’s new drive wouldn’t pass registration inspection with a hole in the front fender in the engine bay, the loose hood lining might get a non pass, the rust in the body would cause a fail. And any wet oil area would get a close inspection . Lucky you can resurrect these vehicles without the tough inspections we have to comply to .
Great job guys. Love the family interaction. Landon should be able to keep this one running for a while, huh! Teenagers are awesome, aren't they. 🤣🤣🤣 I was one once, a long time ago. 😁
That's a old Spud Ratchet tapered spike on the end. The spike can be used to line up bolt holes when installing pipe fittings, doing automotive work or-in the case of iron workers-for lining up bolt holes in girders and beams.
You know what I discovered when I was Landon's age is that if I had to pay for it and I had to fix it I took better care of it. Finding other people's workarounds is part of the enjoyment of fixing things because people are just lazy one stupid to Lazy three lazy lazy lazy lazy. And then when things burn down or go wrong they scratch your head and say you know I probably should have done that differently. Hindsight is not 2020 it's just lazy people
Back in the90’s , I found my case tractor had started on its own a few times just b4 I was going to drain radiator, I would have not dis connected the battery ground… my 300hp motor would have been fried…I found the 2 wires inside the plastic harness to the starter were rubbed bare.. u r showing great content👏🙂👍👏

I started as an apprentice mechanic on a fleet of mostly square body GMCs. The job I most dreaded on them was dropping the saddle tanks.
I just love watching your videos; the banter between y'all is brilliant. Well done on getting that piece of junk fixed up for Landon.
Gotta love the headliner rippling in the breeze with the windows open @ 30:57, classic glue fail!
You guys rock. Such a great family oriented channel with real mechanical skills being shown. Keep up the great job! Michelle jammin to Baby Got Back - Classic!!!
Glad to see someone else struggling with square body chevy. My 1982 K10 keeps showing me new stuff that needs fixed. Great garage community
Same here for me on the grille.
We found a different one to put into it Landon’s problem now
Yeah that grill looks like Iron Man after an upper cut from the Hulk!!!
Yeah, me too on the grille.
@@skeetermcswagger0U812 I guess we'll see what Sir Lancelot does about it - since the ball's in his court now.
I’m really liking the family camaraderie and teasing between Paul and Ben.
Another Great Video
Alot of old school content
Love a square body
Have a Great Day 👍
God Bless America 🇺🇸
The exposed wires and experimental gas lines and tank with the rag for a patch is epic. Will you paint spray can flames as joke? Love your hard work.
Those boys will always remember those days working in the shop with their family! Some of my best memories!
All my life I was told you could fix anything with baling wire and duck tape. But apparently whoever owned that truck was told silicone and jb weld was the fix all 😂
They'd still be driving it if they'd've stuck w/ baling wire and duct tape!
@@michaelm.1947 did learn years ago that cloth hangers are nice to have around too. Not only do they come in handy when you’ve locked your keys in but can do some fine brazing when in need.
@@cecilmckeithan5088 The newer plastic ones just don't work as good!

I really enjoy this channel, fantastic pacing, content and knowledge. Great Job!
Cool truck, especially with fuel prices so high little 4.3 with a manual trans and 4wd? Pretty rare I would think
Agreed. Love this rig.
Finally got my head gasket fixed on my van. It's such a relief. Had a 9 plus hour today, absolute emotional rollercoaster. SHE RUNS BOISSSSSSSS!
I've found that the more experience you have at a trade the ''Luckier" one gets! I'm not surprised Paul nailed it! haha
It's great to see you let the children build their own stuff. No worries about anything. Thank yall for the videos
this is great, one of my favorite episodes,
love the tear down and investigation.
then how you guys just bang the repairs out...
I've done an engine swap on my Kawi Concours... done a bunch of brake jobs... that's about my limit.
but I'd you guys do it right... enough... hahah
great stuff.
Ya right Michell the smell of rain I don't know why but I find it comforting.
Same here , I wasn't allowed a car unless I could fix it or pay someone to fix it , luckily my dad was a great teacher.
Well, for one, he was filming half or more than half the time. Also, it's kind of (I don't mean to be rude) none of your business, especially considering that Landon did almost all of his first truck with Paul.
And that's how you do it. Take care and be safe and God bless amen.
Do you have to worry about metal fragments going into the thermostat opening?
Yep, waiting for thermostat to open and push aluminum chips and grindings into radiator.
I was thinking the same thing
I bet they used the good 'ol aluminum magnet 🧲 😉
Redneck stop-leak :)
Whistlingdiesel would like to know your location
@@GreenTheScreen123 oh shit! lol
Nice to see those brotherly smiles in that shop
That will make Landon a great rig, with plenty of room for future improvements and upgrades. Did you ever notice how the mechanical gremlins can appear out of thin air? If it was running we use to say, for Pete's sake don't touch it! Thanks, you guys are great.
You are a good dad. When my impala had one too many neutral slams and crapped the rear end and the trans at different times I had to eat both repairs with labor and funds. Needles to say lesson was learned and sweat equity was earned!
The boys are definitely blessed to have a awesome dad and uncle who can pretty much work on anything that comes their direction🙏🏻
Do those kids know how good they got it?????? No...not until they hit 30 or 35 ..lol
