I had an M2 preamplifier and it was amazing. I would unconditionally recommend it to anyone. It features tube rectification and a 6SN7 (octal) signal tube that opens up the opportunity for tube rolling using new old stock (NOS) tubes. I LOVE the sound of that preamp.

Jay, I see you have an ANK unit in the background! I’d love to get your thoughts on how they compare to the AN UK stuff. I built a full system with the l3 phono, l5 mentor preamp, and el34 monoblocks to pair with my css 2tdx. I replaced all the coupling caps with Duelund CAST and have been amazed by the combo.

I have heard Audio Note twice at hifi shows, and their holographic soundstage and tone has always been amazing. Would love to get an Audio Note system. Even for electronic music it is good.

I think that comparing these seperates against the Tonmeister is comparing apples to oranges. I would say that it is less about „better“ than different. It‘s a different type of sound. You describe these differences well.
BTW: it is not pronounced ton (as in „it weights a ton“), it’s pronounced like tone (as in „it has a beautiful tone“). Tonemeister means sound engineer in German.

I really like the look of Audio Note components, especially the black with gold knobs. No one else's equipment looks like theirs and (to me) it exudes an understated yet very classy look.

Jay - when you say music, can I assume that also include classical music too? Please play last section of Dvorak's “New World” Symphony with audio note gears. when you have massive strings, wind section and big drum attack all happen together, can you still follow the tunes? Do you get goose bump? Thanks.

I can't afford this level of audio but I truly enjoy watching & learning about the equipment you review. I see you have a pair of NAT monoblocks, are you going to review them? I have looked at their very high-end monoblocks with tubes that look like something that came from a radio transmitter. I also like your Fluxion review, very affordable by a real craftsman!

My advise as an AN owner for more than 10 years : test them with their own Audio Note cables....all of them...the silver ones will be better. It is the right way to go considering the correct sinergy and to maximize their incredible musicality. Try them and tell us here please.

Looks great, especially if you use older brushed aluminum components like 70's Kenwood tuner's. AUDIO NOTE silver front would look good with vintage gear.

At these very high prices there are a * lot* of competition, with great aesthetics (easy) and more flexibility (easy) and more power (easy). I sure hope A.N sounds really great.

Replacing the caps of your amp with Audio Note caps (when they get old) WILL give you some of that Audio Note sound.
[All my comments get some sort of negative feedback recently but I wouldn’t post it if I didn’t experience it for myself.]

Yeah, those cap give that "tube" sound people think of. I can't stand AN caps though, lacking detail and life for me.

If u choose the monoblocks you can place each one next to your speakers allowing shorter speaker cables and saving money. If your gear is to open side of the room and not between your speakers then monoblocks are more practical.

Went to a local audio show a month ago and they had the AudioNote system room. Always wondered how they will sound different for the money. Well not to me. Didn’t hear anything standout and I’ve been listening to music for 50 years. Not to say you won’t find it special but it just shows the importance of doing your own research. Everyone likes different music, look for different things in music and hears differently.

    • @Jayiyagi
      @Jayiyagi  Рік тому +2

I believe you because I didn’t find it all that special when hearing it at shows. But having tried it in my own listening room and comparing has completely changed my mind! If you can, consider borrowing a unit from a dealer to try at home

Amazing speakers! I would pair them with a “warmer” amp (for my taste) and/or a tube amp although it would need to be a bit higher powered like a Luxman or Audio Note.

Allnic as a phono is incredible and to me, better than the M2’s phono. Keep in mind that H-7000V I have is not a Pre-amp. It is just a phono stage for $18,000.

I'm running Audio Note Vindicator Silver Signature for the past year with AN E SPe HE ...
I was a bit apprehensive before buying it, read loads about if 3.5w is enough etc.
I listen to a lot of electronica and rock / metal apart from typical audiophile stuff.
And let me tell you, in a 20-30 m2 room it absolutely rips. I rolled all tubes quite extensively (without going into the ridiculously priced NOS monoplates etc). This combo is spectacular! One year in it still surprises me and puts hair up on my body wirh excitement! When you dial the tubes in and speaker position this amp can play every song in the best possible way it could be played. It's straight up magical. Metallica Black Album sounds like it's being recorded in my room. EDM transports me to a club with the best sound system. Acoustic, vocals, folk, jazz, everything sounds alive! Piercing detail, air, rumbling bass! You'd never say it sounds even 10% as good as it does looking at it or reading the specs. Ok, I creamed enough about it :)

What I really like about this review is that Jayiyagi admits how important the look of audio gear is for him. I am just like that. If a component sounds like the greatest opera in heaven, but looks terrible, I won't buy it. I am happy not to be the only one who cares about the look. One question to Jayiyagi and the audience: Do you only perceive a difference between balanced and unbalanced with long cable distances? Thanks. :)
