Loving that the Scarlet King's "Safe" classification in a way feels like it's because all the other horrors that are byproducts of his existence - even more indirect ones like 110-Montauk - wreak enough misery that he feels no need to make a move personally.
He is a very smart fella, like he willingly weakened himself to make his conquest of worlds easier paradoxically
Wasn't it's classification "Unnecessary" at some point?
The kaktusverse (aka project paragon) also offers a more layered view of the scarlet king as a character.
Basically, in the beginning of time, he was actually more noble and benevolent alongside with the daevites who worshipped him.
But things happened, time was rewritten, the heroes of old died out or were corrupted by Greed and or eldritch fae beings who sought vengeance for the crimes committed against them, and over time the king became the hate filled shell he is now. It's kinda tragic actually.
thats really cool take on the king. while i like tufto's proposal i think it takes a lazy idea and executes it really well, but it's still ultimately "conceptual entity that becomes what you think it is #7195" which bothers me to an extent.
If you think this is long, wait until you see how long the exploring series’ videos on Scp-6500 “Inevitable” and Scp-001 “Ouroboros Cycle” are. They are like Netflix limited series, type of long (mainly talking about Scp-6500). The Scp-001 proposal is more equivalent to a large block buster movie when it comes to length.
God, and Exploring usually shortens them, how long are those articles?
58:00 - I hope you can see why I was being kinda pushy with this one. This is the SCP Foundation at its best, and some of TheVolgun's most inspired voice acting ever. It makes me so happy you appreciate it and get it.
The SCP-001 proposals can act as lenses through which to see the rest of the wiki, or the last puzzle piece that makes existing disconnected puzzles (hubs and canons) fit together in new and surprising ways. And Tufto either studied Jung and Freud or had an intuitive understanding of the Shadow or the Tripartite Mind.
It is definitely among my favourites from Volgun, along with 2316, 2786 and the newest one, 7084. I'm a sucker for victims unravelling mentally in an interview or voice log when the voice acting is this strong.
i can assume what the tripartite mind is about in a general sense from the name but whats the shadow, the allegory of the cave?

Jung talks about the components of self from the Persona (the compromise we strike with the world), the Ego (who we believe to be the "real" us), and the Shadow (all that which is not acceptable to society or to the Ego, that parts of Self we attempt to push down.) The process of Individuation is that of bringing the Shadow to consciousness and owning all of the Self.
By attempting to regiment and contain and suppress the Foundation becomes a force that gives the Shadow more and more power. "What we resist, persists." The Scarlet King is a projection of all that is unacceptable.
The Scarlet King gives me serious Magnus Archives vibes, except slightly more vague, and I love it. I sort of expected him to go the way of ideatic and emotive expression, and he did, but the ever-changing past is really complicated to get a grip on. I need more Scarlet King writing of this quality.
I just gotta add that SCP-001 is a threat of pure irony. The law of concrete is a product of fear of the law of blood, and we use it to run away from the fears which are a foundational part of being. It tries to explain away fears by making them tangible, but that just moves the fear, and makes anything *resisting* the law of concrete even more powerful in our minds. The pure idea of something that cannot be made understandable via the law of concrete (or rather that Blood and Concrete can never be fully reconciled) is the essence of SCP-001, and even voicing the idea that everything is explainable makes it more powerful. The law of howling is that realization codified. I'm still not on board with the law of blood though, and I think there can be reconciliation as the law of blood is reinterpreted and accepted under a different light and name. But maybe that is just another expression of my fear.

I actually agree with the 05’s decision to simply forget about fighting the Scarlet King. As far as I can comprehend of it, and in spite of what its “followers” say, the Scarlet King is postmodernism. By studying and understanding what it is through examining and criticizing the modern world, that is what triggers the events and causes people to fall to his side.
Simply accepting the past and present for what they are and thinking of the future instead, the foundation is essentially starving it out. Though I’m sure the Scarlet King will change alongside them, for example by embodying Dr. Montauk’s hatred for the Foundation’s complacency. As the modern inevitability changes, postmodernism changes along with it.
I was thinking A unarmed bomb, a cat and a lit match in a cardboard box work the the different containment levels. The bomb being safe because it won't do anything but still can be used to cause harm, a cat because they may try to leave the box harm the box or stay in the box, and the lit match being hard to contain in the box without keeping an eye on it but it self isn't very dangerous

The bit on 13 nations coming together to specifically keep the Scarlet King in check reminded me of something. The Gate Guardian (also SCP-001) has a famously unique command given to the founder of the SCP Foundation, which was "Prepare". By itself this sounds like a stretch, but there's another account of a unique command where a researcher demands that The Gate Guardian tell him what he knows of the Scarlet King. The command was "Witness", at which point the researcher was shown a battle where the forces of the Scarlet King, led by him and his daughters, attempted to enter the gate. The Gate Guardian was too much for them at the time(even with time slowed down), and The Scarlet king retreated, presumably to increase in power.
I love how Tapesh is subtle manipulating Montok into replacing him. Tapesh gets him started on learning the ways of The Scarlet King which as he studies it he begins to fall inline and ultimately he replaces Tapesh in serving The Scarlet King

I really love the Scarlet King tales by Djoric; they give the Foundationverse a sort of creation mythos that comes off as something truly epic.
It's a bit of a mess between different canons, but Between Two Trees, When We Came Home, and Dust and Blood are the three main ones that tell a mostly self-contained story. You should 100% check them out.

almost all 001 classifications relate to the beginning of canon in scp or to be more specific each canon in the verse, from the in universe first scp documented to the thing that helped find the foundation.

Like I mentioned on another video. Now your entire perception of certain scps will change mid video once the King comes up. It's more or less implied that every scp like the Hanged King ,the Daivites ,Sarkics the Broken God and many others are just extentions of the Scarlet King. So technically the SCP foundation created all the scps they were founded to contain. There's even an scp that is actually the scp wiki itself and Dr. Bright is actually the guy that created the whole scp wiki by leaking files.

A good rival is worth a lot! Someone who exposes your flaws, drives you to be better.
His existence is similar to the Chaos Gods in 40K, in that His existence begets His existence. The very nature of hatred, pain, suffering is to make more of the same. When it reaches a critical mass, it takes form... but that form reflects the negative which creates it. Consider the Chaos God of Perfection, the only one we admit to having created. A millenia of doing the most Hellraiser of things to one another, and the Goddess/God it formed, are one in the same.
The Scarlet King is the same base that formed the Chaos God of Blood, and in both cases done unknowingly.
This touches on the primary weakness of most Lovecraftian protagonists. They are men of science with no foundation in religion. They believe that everything can be quantified or *nothing* can be quantified. They cannot accept that there is something beyond even the possibility of human understanding and so, when confronted with something that in undeniably incomprehensible, they break.
This also touches on why a Christian monk is the father of genetics. Why the father of modern optics and an early proponent of the scientific method is Islamic. Why our modern university system was built by Christians using Islamic groundwork. Why Jews have had one of if not *the* highest literacy rates for at least the last two thousand years. The Abrahamic God *doesn't care* if people study His creation. If anything, He *encourages* it. Unlike every other god, who might get pissed off if people learned too much. Even the almost agnostic Greek philosophers preferred thinking about what reality *should* be like rather than making actual observations. Some even appalled at the *idea* of making physical observations of objective reality.
Before anyone says the obvious, the idea that science and religion are diametrically opposed mostly came about because of Enlightenment Era "scientists" trying to demonstrate that God doesn't exist by, among other things, putting people in sealed barrels until the suffocated, then opening the barrels to show that no visible soul left. This, understandably, freaked a lot of people out. Why these followers of the Enlightenment were so determined to disprove God, I don't know, but they somehow got it into their heads that because there are rational laws governing the universe, there can't be a rational Creator.
I'm sure many of the more touchy-feely Christian movements didn't help any. Certainly didn't help that quite a few Christians latched onto "religion vs science" as *fact* and used it as an excuse to reject discoveries that the world is a lot bigger and older than we once thought. And, surprise, surprise, the Bible, written by non-Western folks for whom poetry was *not* dead, is *not* a literal scientific textbook. Shocking.
For the record, I'm Christian. I've also been reading the folklore of my Celtic and Germanic ancestors for about as long as I've been able to *read.* I enjoy reading about other religions and beliefs and am *quite* comfortable with the idea that there things out there that would probably break my brain if I looked at them for too long. Have you *read* the descriptions of angels in the Bible? Heck, I'm willing to entertain the notion that there might be lesser spirits tied to natural phenomena that people have worshiped as gods from time to time. Who knows? I don't. Wouldn't say I'm okay with that, exactly, I'd *very much* like to know the exact behavior and appearance of all dinosaurs, for one, but I've accepted it.

It's a big boi, 5 parts of the SCP explained series, but it covers so much ground and is the set up for the more recent Project Paragon, one madman's successful attempt to give SCP some deep and ancient Dark Souls type of lore.

Its not a joke, just an alternate take which is common all over SCP since canon is up to the individual and it can even technically work with this entry. After all what better to counter something that finds no joy in modern life (or really life at all) than a being that finds joy in seemingly everything?

Scarlet King, Chaos is a byproduct of life and souls, Scarlet King on other hand is both beyond reality and part of permanent true reality (objective reality independent from subjective reality), not even mentioning how Scarlet King opposes and is probably stronger than gods who created life and souls to begin which means he's fundamentally superior to chaos
