Bingo feels less dependent on rage quits or desyncs, and more dependent on the players' actual ability and knowledge of the game. Both are fun to watch, to be clear, but Bingo feels more interesting skill-wise.

this is a pretty dope idea; that being said, i'd like to see a boardgame type video where the GG boys play each other rather than unranked. sort of like mario party except all the minigames are melee, whether they be 1v1/1v3/2v2 etc. would be dope to see!

I'm all about that bingo -- there's a more variety and silliness in the goals. But if you do more of the board, I'd say the die should roll between 1 and 3. Roll 6 skips so much of the board.
Agreed. Melee just doesn't have enough characters to skip 5 at a time. It makes the dice rolls more important than the games played.
I like both concepts! However I think this should've a penalty for losing a game (giving less incentive to quit during the pp vs zain game). Maybe a coin flip that decides whether you move back 1 or 2 spaces?
Also, moving 6 is way OP, maybe reducing the dice to a D4 would help
I suggest a rule to only be allowed the roll the number of stocks left over so there is more pressure on winning even against easier opponents. Would take much longer but would get more hype content
O this is like the idea I just commented but better lol.
I think an additional rule should be that if you lose you have to roll a 1-3 dice that sets you back on the board. I think that'll make this more entertaining and longer in runtime.
You can also make it so that there's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place rewards so that there's a reason for them to keep playing after someone wins.
This is much better than bingo imo.
The best part of this video was seeing the notable players they ran into. I saw Yamasaki, ZoSo, and of course Zain and PP meeting each other.
I greatly prefer bingo, having more objectives than a straight win is fun. I also think something should be done about playing for ragequits/desyncs
I think both of them are good, but I like Bingo more because of the ability to steal a space from the others. It adds to the competition and joy of watching someone be screwed over.

Zain giving Toph actual good advice about Doc and then Toph saying he just got 3 stocked is really one of the funniest moments
Suggestion: It'd be really cool if you do the same concept with one change: instead of random rolls, each player proceeds according to how many stocks he had left when he won (so if you 4-stock you go 4 steps). This removes randomness, makes it so playing better gets rewarded, plus there's some strategic thinking letting the players try and intentionally land on low tiers they like.
this is a good idea. and maybe have desync always be a 1? just cause people quitting out would almost always be a 4
@@boxcarTV yes! I was thinking maybe even let players decide if the win counts, as in do you proceed with current win or stay on character and try to get a better result? Combine that with your desyncs = 1 and it makes it really tactical. I like that.
This was awesome! Make the dice only be from one to three to cool the RNG. It would be a better length and more fun to watch. :)

u could maybe blend the ideas where each spot on the board game has a related challenge that needs to be completed with the character to advance -- that way it's slightly less dependant on rage quits/desyncs -- just an idea, loved the video!
I love that Slippi always matches PP with zain.
It's like the computer knows PP belongs in the higher ranks of the game.
How about a board race but each space has two challenges on it. after the roll, a player >chooses< their challenge and needs to finish it
i think bingo is more interactive, but this is a nice change of pace, personally would like to see 3 bingo's per board game
Yeah and you could make the center and corner spaces have a lot tougher challenges
Maybe a rule to keep it fair/fun and interesting could be if someone rage quits/leaves, say you had 1 kill on them, now you only need 3 kills in the next game and then you can quit out. Like you need just 4 total kills if that makes sense

A small edit to this game could be instead of a die roll its how many stocks you were up when you won

You guys should play break the targets but you get a random character to play on that stage. So like it’s Samus’ break the targets but you all get a random Melee character. Sounds fun and unfair

Of course the name could also not be factual or it could be a secondary fox.

Cool idea! A thought: you advance the # of spaces you have left as stocks (maybe +1 or something if that's too slow) or the stock difference if they quit out.
I would say both! Bingo and melee board game feel totally different! Please keep the two of these they are very entertaining.

Golly gee PPMD. I just love the Bingo Board and the board game board game so much. The bingo board showcases the players' ability to hunt for niche things at a moment's notice; one the other hand, the board game requires the players to win. It's a close one, but I think the board game wins it out for me just barely.
I feel like a hardcore race would be fun, where a quit out only counts if the opponent has one stock left. That would suggest our guardians have the guard the egos of all the netplay falcos out there.
Or, rolls between 1-3, so it’s less roll based, or two trips around the board or something.
Board game content is refreshing and fun as hell to watch
I love both games, but this one is a bit easier to follow which I like when 4 players perspectives are being shown.
Would've also been cool to see the rest of the players play it out after n0ne finished!
I've Seen Lock out races before and maybe one of those would do really well in this format. A lock out is a grid of lets say 25 cards, with random objectives pulled from a pretermined list ( you can make your own pool) And it's a race to "lock out" the other person from the other objectives. Some example cards could be , Take 2 stocks with falcon punch, gannon u-tilt, 0- death combo, JV4, ETC... ETc.... I've seen this done with minecraft and other games and the conent is amazing, I think it could really work. If you have any interest i would suggest doing a quick seach into youtube and you find lots of races to see what it looks like.
If you guys ever do this again, maybe you could have a losing player roll to go back some characters, or even just go back one or two characters if they lose? It just feels like there's no punishment if a player loses, like once n0ne got to bowser it was just a matter of time before the game was over, with no real chance for the other players to catch up.
This was fun but the Bingo board is more interesting, I think I prefer that one. I'd be down to see more of this format though!

I like this more than bingo. Better chance for individual to win with their own skill. Not just getting a spot rug pulled and screwing a whole line they have been working on. But the dice rolling still adds an element of getting fucked
Bingo is alot more interesting for sure. This would be cooler if the range of rolls was smaller perhaps. 1-3 would have been much less rng dependent.

im down for this with a lower roll range it feels like if 4 was the max roll it would be more even and more content
I like this format more, but what I really want to see is "guess that player." Take exclusively gameplay from top players' recent streams (or have them record a few games), and see if the golden boys can guess who they are from their gameplay!
I like this idea a lot, especially how it gets harder as it goes so there's always comeback potential. Great stuff as always from Golden Guardians

This challange is really sick, but maybe there should be a way to minimize the RNG as a factor. Seems like a flat dice roll is too polarizing

i think melee board game once we come up with a rule set for quit puts it was really fun to watch !
I honestly like switching between because it provides more diverse content. The board game will always be interesting because the rng will create new routes every time. But even still the board could be rearranged and such to even further it. The bingo game is very cool too because it creates unique sets of things to go for in game but it would be possible to run out of bingo card ideas if not doing it in rotation with the board game.
And just because I’m thinking of it, it would be cool if there was some kind of series where the gg players coach complete noobs and the noobs have a round robin or something with gg players commentating and maybe even mid set coaching
I think a more interesting way of doing this would be moving forward by how many stocks you won by. So if you 4-stock, you move forward 4 spaces. Would even work with ragequits because you'll likely only move forward 1 or 2.
i think the board could be better, like some more spaces on the board where you have to do specific tasks, or win by a certain stock count with a character
i personally like bingo more because it allows for the opportunity to start throwing in absurd challenges

This feels more luck based, but really fun to watch because of the urgency nature of the race
love both formats, i'd make it 3 dice instead of 6 dice personally to give all players a better chance of getting there together instead of being down tremendously because of luck

I prefer bingo but the board game idea could also work well, I liked what another person said where you move up however many stocks you had left at the end of the game, also a penalty for losing would be nice

I think a snakes and ladders type board would be very fun
Rather than making it based on dice, advance on the board by however many stocks you have remaining and I think that'd remove some of the lottery aspect of the game a bit. (eg. 4 stock=advance 4 spaces)

I've enjoyed this and bingo very much, but I think I liked bingo more overall. There's a wider variety of win conditions which makes things super interesting and funny
I like the board over bingo! Easier to track the progress of the 4 players.
Suggestion: make the “die” roll only have values between say 2-4, so that the variability is reduced and there’s no huge leads just due to luck

I love the bingo board. This was good, but the bingo board is a bit more interactive as a viewer. I could think about what route I might go or what someone else is going.
i prefer this to bingo, the bingo was super chaotic and a little hard to follow from what i remember

It's easier to follow than bingo and that's pretty cool, but I really like bingo's crazy win conditions
I like this format but I feel like to make it more balanced you should be forced to roll exactly 1 character per tier instead of just advancing on the game board at a random rate.
So for example you would roll a d4 for a character in the first tier, then a d3, a d4 (that yellow tier that has a break in the middle is 1 tier, right?), 2 d2s in a row, then another d4, then a d5, then a d2, each to merely select characters within a tier you have to win with.
So everyone always has to win with exactly 8 characters, one from each tier, but their path through can be very different.

I really like your rules on rage quits, when m2k tried to do stuff like this rage quits felt way too op, but they don't with this nerf. At least to me
Echoing what others have said in the comments, I like the concept behind this idea but some tweaks would be nice, most notably nerfing the dice from a d6 down to a d4 or d3, and maybe adding a punishment for losing a game by going back a character (though maybe getting stuck on a nightmare character is better content). Also maybe something to dissuade the players from trying to annoy their opponents into a forfeit, something like: to win a match you must be at least 1 stock ahead after 1 minute has elapsed when the session ends through rq, dc, or legitimate finish. Obviously the players would not be penalized as above for failing to meet these requirements, they would only move back on the board due to actually losing a game.

I don’t know if it’s been said yet, but you could make the dice roll fully or partially dependent with the amount of stocks they had when they won? Idk how you’d handle DCs. Maybe stock difference?

I like both versions, but regardless I would like if challenges lasted until second or third rather than finishing with a winner
