Amazing ! Paul thanks so much for bringing this back from a £5 eBay purchase intended for an elderly neighbour. So interesting to see the knowledge and skill involved in a repair like this. You never know what your going to get. Thanks to Tyler and to Richard ( uk cb radio servicing) for kind help. It sounds really amazing brilliant job as always.
No worries Steve, glad you enjoyed it
Salvage of 80's radio's is a ticket to heaven :-)
Bonus ! a mid-week episode, nice job knoxieman .
Excellent audio on the ready rescue, pretty impressive.. nice work resurrecting the radio.
Cheers, yes very nice audio it was indeed.
Crazy how it actually sounded better than the president! Great test and repair 👍🙂
It did shhhh 😂
beautiful dutiful restoration work of an iconic 1980 portable radio resurrected after more than 40 years and the modulation is still excellent, perhaps slightly better than the randy
Yup the audio is better than the Randy
Excellent video. Always enjoy your videos!
Superb job. Even though the speaker is working, it could still be a little on the duff side
Beautiful job as always 😎
Another great job.
Can you recommend a basic meter to optimize the TX and RX of UHF radio sets like Pye and other vintage walkie talkies.
Hi, there really isn't one meter that does all, basic swr power meter, dummy load, tiny SA meter for FM and AM signal generation and an SDR to check deviation and harmonics is about as cheap as you can do it.
Great job as always - shame the telescopic didn't work but hopefully a simple fix. The coax on the magmounts supplied with any of these emergency kits is generally pretty weedy in my experience so am guessing something's just come adrift.
Top work. 🙂
Cheers, the coax is ok going to the antenna there is a break under the magnet somewhere though and you can't take the magnet out sadly.
I'm puzzled as to how you're able to transmit on the President Randy CB Walkie-Talkie without an antenna. Am I missing something?
The antenna is connected to the adapter that plugs in to the radio on the bottom
What brand is the soldering iron?
Pinecil 👍
