My dad and I have always been HUGE fans of Cyndi, and he recently passed away from brain cancer. On the day he passed. I walked out of the hospice house and just sat in my car...stunned. When I finally turned on the car, the first thing I heard from the radio was “...if you’re lost you can look, and you will find me, time after time. If you fall, I will catch you, I’ll be waiting, time after time.”

“Time After Time” was Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper’s very first #1 hit (1983). Her second one would be “True Colors” (1986). The song was entitled after the science fiction movie “Time After Time” (1979), starring Malcolm McDowell as H. G. Wells.
Her first solo album “She’s So Unusual” earned the singer-songwriter the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1984. And "Time After Time” (co-authored by Cyndi Lauper and Rob Hyman) ended up being selected as one of the Best Love Songs of All Time.
At the end of the video, the tear that she sheds is authentic, Lauper having the ability to cry on impulse. No wonder since the lady is indeed a gifted actress.
Among Lauper’s own trademarks, her wild hair colors, her eccentric clothes and her thick “New Yawk” accent. When asked about the latter, she stated with tongue in cheek : “I do speak the Queens English. It’s just the wrong Queens, that’s all. It’s over the 59th Street Bridge.
