Thanks for the video this just went on sale for $120, thinking about picking it up.
Just had a 2TB delivered and unfortunately the drive i recieved only read at 5526 MB/s. Just barely over the recommended spec. I looked into this and apparently it's pretty common amongst this drive.
I've purchased many NVME drives from Crucial and all have actually met the advertised read/write speeds or just below the advertised value.
I however think the majority of these issues do stem from customers who purchased this drive off Amazon. All other drives from crucial I have purchased have been from Best Buy and Newegg. Those ones purchased have had no issue but I was surprised to see the Crucial P5 Plus running 1100 MB/s lower than advertised after ordering it from Amazon.
IDK, maybe I've just got a tinfoil hat on but it just seems weird.
Aside from that, has there been in any performance issues effecting the PS5?
I got mine a couple days after this like N C said the read speed is just above the limit so if you're looking to maximize your purchase this might not be for you but this has been great for me.
Nice cheap storage that runs at the standard I haven't had any issues just don't gor get the heatsink! I paired mine with the sarbent and it's been great!

@@gazzygarcia1636 It works well, I think it's just as fast as the SSD that the console comes with.
When gta v came out on ps3 and 360 years ago on disc. Rockstar actually optimized the game to pull data from the disc and hard drive simultaneously to increase bandwidth. On 360 if you forced installed the full game to the hdd or got the digital edition on ps3 the game actually has worse texture quality and pop in.

I dont get why you check textures. They are loaded into memory from disk. So once you load the game the disk is not working anymore (unless you save or load another place)

On the 980 Pro the games write really fast to it.
i got a p5 and just upgraded from a ryzen7 to ryzen9 5900x doing a bench check the p5 doesnt seem to be performing that great why is this? i have 64gig ram 8gig gpu r9x temp running at an awesome 50c and 68 on load which is brilliant.

I had the 2tb version of this drive and got the same speed so I tried to reformat the drive by the 3rd time the speed dropped to 2755 and I got a yellow hazard sign saying drive is to slow so I returned it
I'm getting a similar issue, I've tried formatting twice so far and it's reporing barely over 2000 MB/sec. It reads at 6800 MB/sec in CrystalDiskMark on my PC

I put the 2TB model in my PS5 and it's telling me the read speed is 2324 MB/s :( In my PC I get 6800 MB/s. I don't think the issue is my PS5 because I had a Firecuda 530 in there before that was reporting well over 5500 MB/s

Considering 1tb is going to be the most common size ppl buy. Really should test those out instead since they usually have higher performance

With gen 3 PCIE in x8 on SSD if no compressed Data on NTFS you can write 3000MB/s and Read 3000MB/s but ! il you activate NTFS compress you can give : write 400MB/s and Read 5000MB/s yes!! Read 5000MB/s ! but incheck indexing option in NTFS. for gaming Read is the best !
I used this same ssd after having it in my PC for less than a year and it shows the speed as 2324.392MB/s which is way too slow. I've got a heatsink, I've got the cover on. What's going on?

@@chromium5988 Yes and no, my initial guess was incompatibility with the PS5's SSD architecture. But then I did some loading time tests on my channel and there was basically no difference even in a game like Ratchet and Clank which really pushes the SSD. So it's either a glitch with the test because the chances of us getting the same result is very low or the test isn't the most robust in the world.

@@chrismorrison5301 I ended up formatting for a third time and it reported a read speed of over 5600, so not really sure what is going on. I also did some tests loading games, including Ratchet and Clank, from the internal and the Crucial and they were very similar, so I assume everything is ok. Thanks :) Also, nice video!

The wd sn850 is slightly better. If you can get one at reasonable price. Otherwise you can't really tell the difference between them once you using ether.
