WOW...yes a lot of tongue...this could be a challenge....my mum is Scottish and I considered trying a training drone before purchasing bagpipes. Thanks !
so cool of you! when I first tried to learn Amazing Grace I listened to a Howard Levy version where he produced the great bagpipe sound and didn't think I'd ever figure how to do it. thanks!!
Hi Liam, I find this technique fascinating and would like to learn it. How do I manage to apply Tongue Splitting to intervals that go well beyond an octave? For me, it goes to the tenth at most and no further. I don't understand how you can do that and how musicians who play Irish music, for example, block five holes with their tongues and do it quickly in alternation. Can you tell me?

You're welcome George. What is a training drone? Sounds serious! Cheers. Liam
You know the definition of a gentleman is don't you?
A man who knows how to play the bagpipes and doesn't .
:=)
The old ones are the best!!
Bernie Bray (1921-1981) was the first to perfect this, but back then he also used a balloon to create the drone part.
That's so cool, thanks for the info!

You're welcome David. Howard Levy does it so well, it's a really cool thing if you can get to grips with it. Good luck! Liam
You make things easy to understand for us beginners...thanks...yes, it does sound like bag pipes
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson! :)
Thanks, I'm a bit lightheaded now, gonna have a bit of a lay down.
🤣
This is, frankly, ingenious.
Haha, thanks Keith Barger. I'm not great at it but it's a cool little thing to learn. Howard Levy etc make it sound really cool. Good luck!
Wauw!! Fantastic lesson and sound. Thank you so much!!
Thanks G.W. Slotman!
That -(2 7) split is a monster and then you have to get -(2 8)! Its a very cool sound! Don't think my mouth is even big enough though.
Haha, yep it's definitely a monster!
Nice technique, hope you enjoy the vacation !
Thanks Mert Güneş, I had a great break - now back home feeling refreshed!
Another outstanding lesson
Thanks
Thanks Andy, glad you liked it :)

Yes I think so
Is this a regular harmonica?
Yes, it's a 10 hole diatonic harmonica.
If you manage to play harmonica like that then you're making your girlfriend pretty happy i bet
Transferable skills.
Get on with it
