My name is Bela (like Bella but the Portuguese spelling;), and welcome to my first video!
A lil bit about me: I am a Canadian first year student at trinity college, uoft, and I study humanities! In my second year, I hope to study history and political science/international relations/something related to those things :)
I made this because I really would have loved to have seen this when I was still in high school and so I hope this video can help you guys out in any way! Comment what you would want more videos on!

I just got into the trinity college !! Thanks for this video 🥺🥺
I just stumbled upon this video (even though it's been like 2 years since you posted this lol) and you have no idea how helpful and reassuring this was to watch! I've been reading all these comments online about how impossibly challenging UofT is and how it's really hard to make friends. But seeing you talk about your experience really helps. I got accepted into Trin for 2023 and I'm so excited! If you happen to see this (or any other current UofT student) would you mind telling me how your overall experience has been with academic difficulty? I am seeking a challenge in uni but just want to make sure that my hard work will pay off for a good gpa (as I'm aiming for med school) :)
this is my friend Ana's response: i guess difficulty in how much you challenge yourself, hard work does pay off as it evokes discipline and good habits, but university is difficult as sometimes we have outcomes in grades we don't expect, but you gotta keep moving. As long as you remain committed to the work and not slack off, you will do great. GOOD WORK PAYS OFF. Midterms are difficult but TIME MANAGEMENT also pays off sm and makes the difficult manageable for good mental health and enjoy everything uni has to offer including trinity.
and this was what my friend anjali had to say: I defo agree with ana and also everyone had different strengths/experiences coming into uni. As for me, I felt somewhat behind compared to everyone else from my high school which i think can make an impact during your first semester when you’re trying to figure it out but as time goes on you figure out how to get the hang of things, what study habits fit for you, and what areas of study are best for you! first semester is definitely a big learning period to figure out how to get into the uni groove but everyone is in that boat during first sem! if you time manage and make time for the things that make you happy like friends time then i feel like THATLL make a good impact on your academics because you’ll also have better mental health!
I think it's definitely as hard as you make it. You can spend 5 mins skimming your readings so that you have a few free hours to sit on tiktok or you can sit down and take an hour or two to read them properly, take good notes, actually be prepared for the lesson/tutorial discussion. Same thing with textbook questions, doing past papers, preparing for lectures for a bio class. Anjali, Ana, and I are humanities/social science students so I know we don't know what it is like to do the biology/chem courses but our courses are challenging in their own right. The three of us enjoy what we study and so we do put in the effort to do things well, consolidate our learning, write great papers, be the most active participants in tutorials. UofT isn't as hard as I thought it would be but I think that is because I came to uni with good work habits, a passion for learning, and great time management skills from doing extracurriculars and soccer during high school. That being said, I have experienced academic disappointments - like getting a 78 on a paper when I was super proud of it and worked hard on for weeks, or getting a B on an exam that I felt so confident about, but you just pick yourself up and keep going :) I think at the end of the day, as long as you CARE about what you're doing, you'll be able to learn the skills you need to succeed and you'll have the discipline to keep going even if your motivation falters. If you aren't willing to put in the work, it is pretty impossible to succeed. C's get degrees but they don't get you much beyond that and certainly not where I, or you with med school, want to go. I think you would do well because you seem to have the ambition to want to do well, which is a big part of the battle :)
@@bela.at.trinity Thank you SO MUCH! Seriously, this is helping me out so much more than any other thing I'm seeing online. I definitely am considering going to UofT the most, and this is making me more confident in that. I'd love to meet you sometime if I do :) Anyway, I greatly appreciate your words of advice (and your friends'!)
@@anastacialaux it means the world to me that I could help you, wishing you all the best in your future, and I would love to meet you some day if you do come to uoft!
hiii could you please do a room tour? just got accepted to trinity, and i realllyy want to check out the dorms xx
DO A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Thanks for you video is very helpfull. My dauther is going on september .we're form the caribbean Santo Domingo DR so i'm worried about the cold weather . Wish she meet u went she get to the univ she'll in Trinity also
Hello!!! I'm sure the winter must be a really daunting prospect for you and your daughter but it is manageable and is honestly quite beautiful! This past winter was the first winter a lot of my friends experienced as they come from countries in South America or Africa or even parts of Europe that only get mild winters. They all survived and we got to make memories with their first snowstorms :) She'll be ok as long as she has a good coat (and it does not need to be a Canada Goose jacket), a hat, gloves, boots and a scarf. If you want any brand recommendations, let me know, I'm Canadian so I know the good ones! And if she gets a room at Trin proper, she won't even need to go outside to get to the dining hall (we have tunnels that run under the whole building which is amazing in the winter :)
This was super helpful! Would you mind commenting on your exact average for grade 12?
hi Audrey! glad I could help. So I believe because of how Ontario's application process works, they took my top 6 grades from grade 12. My average with the top 6 was in the 95-100% range. I would rather not say exactly what it was :)
@@bela.at.trinityhey! when you got your admission letter, was it based on your sem 1 finals or was it midterms? asking because my grades haven’t been updated yet and my midterms were not the greatest but the first admissions wave is coming soon😭
btw thank you for your videos!
@@vs72 I honestly can't remember at all, it was 3 years ago for me! And it was also during covid so we had 4 quadmesters - I don't know what you guys are doing now. Wish I knew!
