Wow! What an amazing video! Don’t ever watch any documentaries about couples who sail to these beautiful abandoned islands and get robbed and killed. A lot of people running from the law go to these places. It’s very smart that your traveled with another couple. You really are living a dream to be able to do this. You have to be smart, physically and mentally fit. Looks like you guys fit the profile
Awesome David & Amy...the videos are worth waiting for. Wish you much success & have fun! I enjoy the videos very much and admire you for not going the Patreon route.
Glad you like them! We've talked about Patreon in the past, but we're fortunate that we don't need it to fund our cruising adventures. Plus, it's enough work making just the videos! I don't know how the other channels make even more content!
That abandoned resort is horrific. All that waste, and what's worse is all that pollution on that beautiful island from the dilapidated buildings & unused materials.
It really was sad to see. But I doubt it's going to change any time soon. With the resort in bankruptcy, no one is going to pay to clean up the island. Also, I'd guess that a developer would probably prefer to start from scratch on a new island (of which there are a lot in the Maldives) rather than repair this one... 🙁
It is super to see how you have become your natural selves in front of the camera. And this is an adventure I would love to experience with my daughter. An abandoned resort: Wahoo
We really appreciate you saying that. It's a bit hard to be natural in front of the camera, but we like when people who meet us in real life say we're exactly like we are in the videos.
Not quite yet! 😁 If you want to read more about our upcoming plans, we wrote a blog post about it: outchasingstars.com/2019/06/12/one-year-left-plans-for-2020/
you guys are awesome couple. btw Roti is like proper food in India, had sometimes at all 3 meals. no Meals without roti. Actually only towards south India, they replace Roti with Rice. But up north and middle region, pretty much roti, with everything. Including Roti with rice and veggies. Roti with meat or fish/ fish curry etc etc.
In all this time, I am surprised someone didn't haul those supplies away and resell them or something... The owners went bankrupt, so funny a bank didn't claim the supplies to put toward the debts.
Given the restrictive requirements of the Maldives, I 'm not surprised that the resort is sitting there rotting away. I am surprised that all those supplies are still there! Especially that huge pile of teak! By the way, Amy didn't catch a fish. She caught the 'bait' for catching a fish.
Best thing is to go home and rest before making any decisions. After a few months you will definitely have a different idea of what you want to do. Always remember, your first idea is your worst idea. Time may lead you on another circumnavigation . Thanks for the videos.
Good to see nature taking over this resort. I hate these types of resorts, too me they are like open prisons. No local culture to see and nothing much to do.
Since the videos are so far behind, I'll give you a bit of a spoiler. I got all the ingredients needed and had the recipe ready during a passage but the Admiral found it and made it herself, not knowing it was supposed to be a surprise!!! Oh well... it was delicious anyways!
Muito obrigado pela oferta! Temos um bom amigo em Recife que cuida bem de nós! (Espero que faça sentido, eu tive que usar o Google Translate para Português!)
Malaysian roti is nothing like a tortilla - far more puffy and flakey - more similar to a tortilla made out of savoury pastry. It’s interesting that the Maldivian roti is so different
The Maldives is so backwords with the politics and views however you cannot deny that it is visually such a beautiful place
I LOVE that you tag the fish! Best part of the diving, no one else does that. Good job!
That's all Amy! She's much better at identifying them than I am!
I was about to write the same comment!
Beautiful place, sad it was never finished. Enjoyed the drone footage!!

Still very much respect for your team spirit, diligence and the attitude to overcome all the obstacles that have come your way.

back to nature makes me happier than another lousy resort.
Nature always wins in the end...
Don't tell me you guys are done in April for good? I hope not. I really enjoy your videos. You guys are amazing!

What di you do to prevent the theft of your boat when it is left alone at an anchorage in the middle of nowhere?
In all this time, I am surprised someone didn't haul those supplies away and resell them or something... The owners went bankrupt, so funny a bank didn't claim the supplies to put toward the debts.
love the vlog
Wow.... that was quite cool 😎

When you're as bad at fishing as we are, ANYTHING counts as a fish! 😂
Is it for sale?
Hello guys please find out if it for sale
There are islands for sale
Why is it in this state? 😕
What happens after the circum navigation?
We get that question a lot, so we actually wrote a whole blog post on it:
outchasingstars.com/2019/06/12/one-year-left-plans-for-2020/

pretty koowl place! but upkeep? of what :-D nice teak!
Fair point! Maybe they're supposed to be keeping people off the island? In which case, they're also doing a fine job. 😂

Are you planning on selling your boat when you get finished with your adventure?
We'll likely sell Starry Horizons someday. But the adventure isn't over quite yet!
is this true
the recipe??
I got to check out an abandoned resort once but it wasn't like that one you've checked out.
I always find abandoned buildings a bit spooky, even when they're 5-star resorts...
I wish I could be there!!
From time to time we give Nature a rough going. But in the end Nature always wins.
You certainly can't sail around the world without a healthy respect for Nature!
Did I miss something here? Why was the resort abandoned?
More then likely because of the coral die off no one wants to go on a luxury vacation to snorkel with dead reef
12:08 look at the size of those potts!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a shame
Very sad.
When can I join you people! ;)))))
You are joining us! Via the videos of course! 😁 But you're certainly welcome to come to St. Lucia to help us celebrate finishing our circumnavigation!
My God...
She's gonna have fun??
Drop anchor??
Why does she ask all these questions ??
How are the staff not living in those bungalows???
The bungalows are generally pretty run down. And the access to the over the water ones at least would be pretty treacherous!
Bryan those were squatters not staff
I went utheem ganduvaru this year in jan
Need company my husband and I are ready to explore
Jurassic Park
beautiful episode again ! David did you make the recipe for the Admiral ? love from the Netherlands. fair winds ⛵️☀️🌴

Roti looks like a flour tortilla
There is a lot of culinary similarities around the world for sure.
Malaysian roti is nothing like a tortilla - far more puffy and flakey - more similar to a tortilla made out of savoury pastry. It’s interesting that the Maldivian roti is so different
I'll buy it Yahweh nme
