Fun fact: "And his name is G-A-S-T... I believe there's another T... It just occurred to me... That I'm illiterate... And I've never actually had to spell it out loud before!" was improvised by Josh Gad on the spot -- and it was kept in because it was brilliant and he was one of the only characters without an edited voice.
oh wow! I didn't know that! Josh Gad! Way to go! Is it just me, or no matter what he says, he always sounds like Olaf, even when not doing the voice
t wasn’t completely improvised. they had about 15 different takes where Gad had a slightly different version every time, but there was a part in the script where he said that, except Gad improvised a little a bit
Good to know, I didn't know this. Amazing what you can learn from the UA-cam comments section. ;)
When you read something you wrote an hour ago:
"It just occurred to me that I'm illiterate"
No one's neck's as incredibly *_T H I C C_* as Gaston
I literally thought this was "no one's dick is incredibly thick as gaston"
I came into the comments looking for this, and was not disappointed. XD
HOW IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE BACKGROUND? THE ORCHESTRA DID SO AMAZING!!!! I got so many goosebumps and I was on the verge of shedding a tear. They were great from the pizzicato and the solos and that part where there was no singer! It was so goooood!
I don't care what anybody says, this song was the _absolute best_ in the _whole_ movie.
Anonymous Toast Agreed but seriously, why the villain songs always the best?
who decided to have Josh Gad as Lefou? because A+ to them
Me and his voice sounded like Olaf
Yeah it does sound like Olaf
My fav bit is the part between 2:38 - 2:57! Why does a villain get such fun music?
I was in a production of Beauty and the Beast. I would have loved to play Belle. But when we started rehearsing and got the song I was so happy I got to play a silly girl just because I was part of this song. It's my favorite on stage! It's SO MUCH FUN to perform it!
cristinasjourney I was this close to being in a production in high school.
Emma Hui
it's like a mix of how to train your dragon, pirates of the carribiann, and Three Musketeers

No one falls from great heights and then _dies_ like Gaston!
@@generalgrievous4508 the “cry” meant screaming when he fall down the bridge no?
I liked how Evans held the note for barge.
Connor Erhart I was just going to say, no one is talking about his long note and then smooth pitch change? like tf
I guess I’m crazy, but I wonder if he was even strong enough for both the pitch and for holding Josh Gad and the other one.
David Dies There's a behind the scenes thing where Josh and the girl are actually being held by wires while he's holding them up.
No one disgusts Belle like Gaston. No one betrays his best friend like Gaston. No one falls to his death like Gaston.
He betrays LeFou? Aw that's kind of sad. This movie hasn't come out yet in my country so I am yet to see it
I'm sorry but does it look like I'm complaining about the spoiler? I want all the spoilers! I'm genuinely curious to know if he actually betrays LeFou
+Cinnamon Rose Caramel Alright then: During the Castle fight, Lefou remain trapped (temporaly) under Cadenza and beg Gaston to help him but he just left him trapped and instead goes for the Beast
Okay, I just figured out how many eggs Gaston has eaten. He says, "When I was a lad, I ate four dozen eggs, every morning to help me get large!" 2:20 Let's say that he's a lad until he's eighteen. That means he ate 315,360 eggs in eighteen years, not counting leap years. He seems about 31, so he lived 13 years more before dying. He says, "Now that I'm grown, I eat five dozen eggs," so we multiply 13 by the number of eggs he eats every morning by the number of days in a year, not counting leap years. That means he at 284,700 eggs when he was grown. Now, as for leap years, he probably had about 7, four in his lad days and three in his grown days. That means he ate 516 more.
So, as far as I know, Gaston ate 600,576 eggs in his entire life. :P
But then, this took place in France in the late 1700s or early 1800s, so he could've been a lad until he's 11, and ate 192,720 eggs. He ate 438,000 eggs for the rest of his life. He still had 7 leap years, but this time 2 in his lad days and 5 in his grown days. That's 96 and 300. So there's also the possibility of him eating 631,116 eggs. Let's not mention the months on top of his 31 years or his snacks. ;-)
Disney Movie Geek
Wow we didn't have to know that
We just want to hear the song
Know I can brag to my friends that I know how many eggs Gaston eats
"...And I shoot from behind."
"Is that fair?"
"I don't care."
LUKE EVANS KILLED IT. Love him as Gaston. Love the new lyrics. The whole thing was pulled off amazingly by Luke and Josh Gad. Love them both in their roles.
"G-A-S-T... I believe there's another T... It just occurred to me that I'm illiterate and I've never had to spell it out loud befoooooooore..." LOL AND HE HOLDS THE NOTE THE HOLE TIME
When I saw the movie at the cinema with the french subtitles it was written: " I'm illiterate 'cause I'm a dick." I hope he didn't say that in the french dubbing.
Noooo one's vain as gaston, causes pain like gaston, no one falls to his death in the rain like gaston!
No one's dumb as Gaston, killed and done like Gaston, no one's aroused from mirrors like Gaston!
(Sorry, had to do it)
Nooooo ones thick like Gaston, such a prick like Gaston no one wants to be hit with a brick like GASSSSTTOOOONNNNNN
I don't care what anyone else thinks of this remake, Josh Gad as Lefou is pitch perfect casting
Agreed! I actually prefer this over the original because Josh Gad as Lefou is wonderful
Josh Gad's Lefou has more energy than Lefou himself in the animated movie
No one turns vertically challenged men gay like Gaston
No one sneaks into other movies like Gaston! (You'll get this if you've watched the Golden Films version of Hunchback and seen there Frollo.)
I honestly think this version is so much better than the original. It feels so much more energetic and fun. It feels like a true musical number.
I kind of agree, even though it’s unforgivable that they cut the “covered with hair” line
It’s alright. The original one is just really hilarious and goofy and is my fav for that reason. Also, Richard White really does Gaston’s voice justice.
Lefou actually has a nice voice
Mermaid Boy yeah and hey that voice of lefou sounded like olaf
Heroinw Reychelle Moya 53 yeah because the same person who plays olaf plays Lefou.
He was the original Elder Cunningham in 'The Book of Mormon' and that show has won 9 Tony's and a Grammy. 😏
Something I love is that a lot of the “new” lyrics were written by Howard Ashman for a prior draft of the original film. To insert them back in is really cool.
I just noticed, when watching this movie again, Lefou pays people to sing along...
It's been a month+ since I've seen the movie, but I thought he was paying for the drinks he filled from the barrel for those three stooges.
no he was paying people to sing
exactly i noticed too. its like a favor you do to people like ill pay if you participate lol
At 1:56, foreshadowing much?
Gaston: "And I shoot from behind!"
Le Fou: "Is that fair?"
Gaston: "I don't care."
That part was actually in the original Disney movie. They decided to take it out though since it is a children's movie.
Damn 4 dozen eggs? He needs to get his cholesterol checked
While it has been established that eggs contain cholesterol, it has not yet been proven conclusively that they actually raise the level of serum cholesterol in the human blood stream.
According to @Disneymoviegeek S comment , Gaston has eaten a minimum of 631,116 eggs in his entire life
2:36 - 2:57 is my absolute favourite part of this song. Makes me wanna dance like them in the movie. Always puts a huge smile on my face.
I loved it when Lefou was desperately gesturing to Tom Dick and Stanly to start singing and then they finally figure it out.
And how he gives money to the person Gaston picks up during "to get large" line
Jessica Beggs I love it that he basically paid everyone in the pub to go along with it. lol
Yeah. I liked it though. They didn't portray him. As a super great person but rather the annoying asshole he really is. And the village knows it's
And then he did that cute clap and patted his chest to gesture the next line. Josh Gad was probably the best part of the movie, man. He's an incredible actor
And the fact that he realised he was illiterate in the end when he tried to spell Gaston's name aloud. Josh Gad? More like Josh God.
How in the hell did they find the perfect actor to play Gaston? Seriously Luke Evans killed this role!
Yair Witty i havent seen the movie but he certainly did well in this song(except the intimidating line that was too high but the spitting and barge lines were good)
Josh had a lot of fun in this role. You can tell.
Well it's a musical scene, I'm sure everyone who's doing a musical scene are having a great time, not just in Beauty and The Beast
I love how Gaston devolves throughout the film. In the live action he can actually be seen respecting Lefou in the beginning even remarking on how great he is and thanking him, and we get to watch his downward spiral into recklessness and disregard.
Josh Gad and Luke Evans almost stole the show with this for me. If they hadn't of given Dan Stevens his own song this would have been my favourite scene but Evermore was god damn amazing! Anyone else cry at it?
I love Evermore song. more then gaston song my 1st favorite song is Be our guest song in the movie I saw this movie today and I loved it
i think everyone did a great performance, i had a few issues with Emma Watson but it was a great movie

Gaston!
the instrumental part at 2:49 makes me feel so good inside and I just can’t explain it
Josh Gad really puts his all into this song, you can hear him singing above the crowd. Lackeys don't usually get musical numbers but this really kicks up the awesome
cartoon: bad guy who gets jealous
movie: yandere gaston to the point he attempted to murder the father of his crush
Yandere is not from this game, dude. It is an archtipe that is widely used in Japanese stories. YS just used it as many before. And it is an American game.
Hat Hatto yep,i used yandere here because honestly he was ready to kill anyone who dare opposes his 'love' (obsession) for belle. he even attempted to kill her dad and chased after a beast that he has never seen before.
that was not love or obession sir that was pure ego that caused him to act that way.
No one's neck's as incredibly THICC as Gaston
@@spaceisnice6913 everyone stole this. You stole that “you stole this” comment. The nerve
Am I the only one who just loves the harmonies from 3:38 further when everyone is singing?? Is just amazing they did such a great job!! I just love it

@Kay Styles
And the finish line:
“Gastoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!”
@@chelseakranenburg7279 that makes sense. I think the best part of the movie were the visuals
Luke Evans was a perfect Gaston! He was my favorite part of the movie
Cydnie also, the lefou being gay thing was just for publicity again.
omg yes i was sweating during this song! i sweat when i see hot men
So why can I song this song almost perfectly in the shower but when I'm in public I sing like nails being scrapped on a chalk board??
Daniel and/or Allycat Lindsey you're actually the same in the shower. You just feel you're better as you're alone and also you cannot hear your voice as others hear it.
Showers also do a certain thing to make your voice sound richer bill nye explained it in his sound waves episode lol
Me: *laughs at a text message in the middle of class*
Teacher: Would you like to share what you're reading with the class?
Me: 4:06
Le Fou. Disney's openly gay character. According to my family. Gotta love him. And josh Gad. Just perfection
If this is canon, then LeFou has been that way since 1991. We just haven't known about it.
I always thought he was gay lol. I mean.. I don't remember what his obsession was with Gaston was back then. I guess they're making him gay to make his relationship/crush with Gaston make more sense?
Is anyone else confused about the fact thta Gaston eats 5 dozen eggs a day, thats 60 a day, 21,900 a year, and we know eggs are expensive because a lady in 'belle' said so. How can he afford them all? Is he rich, and if so then why does he live in the village? SHouldnt he have a castle? Or does he not have a castle because he spends all his money on eggs?
AskHistorians on Reddit had an expert on medieval history (and chickens of France!) work out how many chickens Gaston would have needed (140+.) Maybe the eggs in town are so expensive because Gaston is creating an artificial shortage and driving up prices, lol.
I also love that they added the “sneak up with my quiver” part, especially when he says, “I don’t care.” And he makes a funny smile.
"I needed encouragement. Thank you, LaFou."
"Well there's no one as easy to bolster as you! ...Too much?"
God damn it! How is it the villains always get the best song?
Valentin Palombo I know right!, this is my favorite song from the film. I know the whole song, yet only small parts from the others.
Or rather, why is it that the main actors get the worst actors. Luke Evans and Josh Gads performances were the only ones I either remember or like. The others are forgettable or horrible played.
It's going to be interesting to see Josh Gad as LeFou. All right now is picturing Olaf singing to Gastón. Luke Evans & Josh Gad are the perfect Gastón & LeFou duo.
Karen Lopez during this scene I literally looked at my fiancée and said "I can't stop imagining Olaf in his sunglasses running around in this scene".
UPDATE:
Disney has just announced they'll be making a new DisneyPlus series with Gaston's backstory, AND it'll apparently be musical, AND both Luke Evans and Josh Gad will be reprising their roles in it!
“GAS...T I BELIEVE THERES ANOTHER T, AND IT JUST OCCURRED TO ME THAT IM ILLITERATE AND I’VE NEVER HAD TO SPELL IT OUT BEFOREEEEE!” I’m dead. 😂
I like the part when he tries to spell Gaston's name
Apparently that part was improve on Josh Gad's part, which makes it even funnier
Am I the only one who found Gaston extremely hot and pleasant to the eyes lmao
Luke Evans is so freaking good, his "barge" notes get me every time
And his name's G-A-S...T...
I believe there's another T...
It just occurred to me that I'm illiterate and I've never actually had to spell it out loud before...
I died... XD
Josh Gad is a great Lefou, and Luke Evans is a terrific Gaston!
josh gad was good but Luke Evans wasnt a great Gaston. Plenty of other male actors couldve been more comical then him. i cant think of any other actor who couldve been better but he wasnt the best.
Steven Monk he wasn't meant to be mainly comedic has we can see there is more to Gaston and Luke brought that out fabulously
Yes they were really good I also like Lefou joined the enchanted objects side in the end. It was just so unexpected. And Luke was a great singer and actor in it too.
3:57 till 4:17
I'm dead 😂 I swear to God if I ever do beauty and the beast at drama club, I'm auditioning for lefou.
Bellatrix Lestrange- I just finished being a part of Beauty and the Beast- and trust me- best experience of my life. U go and try out for Lefou- ur gonna love it
In my town, not so long ago, before Covid,
I played Lefou in a dance musical I did with my dance studio 😂😂 I really loved playing him.
I swear I love this part, there is something about Gastons / Luke's voice here 1:44 that is so captivating and sends shivers down my spine..
I love him and his voice.
i actually like this version more than the original
I honestly love this more than the original version.
Nooooo one's sly as Gaston,

No one shoots a dragon out the sky like Gaston
LegendaryLaRon nice job fucking up the rhyming scheme of the song. it's supposed to be A A A, line, B B B, not A C A (C being the totally unrelated, non rhyming part)
I didn't realize Lefou was the guy who did Olaf. I recognize the voice!
Love how everyone is talking about they hear Olaf and all I can hear is Elder Cunningham.
Anyone else love Lefou in this movie?
Starlight Glimmer Me! He was funny and Josh Gad fit his character very well!
I just love Josh Gad so much! He's so funny and he's an amazing actor and singer! I love how he also played Olaf in Frozen, when I first saw this movie and when he started to sing I immediately thought of Olaf😁 And does as an amazing job playing LeFou😍💕
Josh Gad is just phenomenal! He owns every role he plays, but I have a special place in my heart for his roles as LeFou and Elder Cunningham.
I can't stop picturing Olaf singing this song
Josh Gad as LeFou is borderline perfect casting. Dare I say, an improvement of LeFou from the original.
He is an awesome actor and his time on Broadway and work on frozen shows that he's got a solid singing voice
"So I'm roughly the size of a barge"
I kind of find it a little funny, considering Evans played Bard (the bargeman) in the Hobbit... maybe I have an odd sense of humor.
I knew he was in Hobbit, but I didn't know the role was a bargeman! I is doomb.
Okay, but Evans is Luke Evans. But sorry that u wanted to tell you that Evans (Luke Evans) is almost Gaston! Or Evans also played Bard?
Honestly, Jon Gad brings SO much energy and passion to this song! I love it!
I have a crush on Luke Evans omg
Oreen Kay yeah he is gay. However i find that adorable! i love gay people. 💞
I'm SO EXCITED for Josh Gad as LeFou, I can't even begin to explain it while listening to his voice alone in the soundtrack!!
My favorite part of this scene was the dancing/fighting going on during the instrumental. It just seemed like so much fun!
Is that fair?
I don't care!

Does anyone else just love the way Lefou sings at 3.18? My favorite part of the song
"I use antlers in all of my decorating" is pretty much my favourite line in the whole movie
Lol Seriously the most positive Disney cheer up song!!
I love Luke Evans and Gaston ❤❤
this song is my favorite song 💙💙
I'm actually more excited for Lefou and Gaston's part of this film than anything else. They were among my favourites. (and Lumiere of course) This whole song made me giggle and freak out over how cute it was. (I love the newly added lines) I can't wait!
actually, the whole line about the hunting bit?
"When I hunt, I sneak up with my quiver,
And beasts of the field say a prayer.
First I carefully aim for the liver,
Then I shoot from behind!"
"is that fair?"
"I don't care"
that was originally written for the animated movie. They cut it from that because they felt it was too dark. And now with the animated movie, they added it back in, and so the song is back to its original glory. : )
This number was so well done in the movie, from the sword fight break to Josh Gad literally being Le Fou incarnate. It was entertaining and exciting and comical and honestly this and Be Our Guest were my favorite two numbers of the whole movie. So awesome!
When someone says I’m pretty today,
“As a specimen yes I’m intimidating”
Having Josh Gad as LeFou and Luke Evans as Gaston is perfect casting.
Why does this song sounded so sexual lol 😂
If you watch the movie when lefou says "and they'll tell u whose team they prefer to be on" he winks at gaston lol. I think the part that sounds sexual is 1:45 to 2:00. It's something about the noises he's making and the way gaston says from behind.
Well LeFou does have a crush on Gaston, so I mean... there might be a bit of sexual tension hidden in his voice.😅
even the original movie was basically lefou declaring his infatuation for gaston
"I shoot from behind"YEAH.IT'S SEXUAL!Now,Shhhhhh.....you scare the children
XD
What I like about the "new version" of Gaston Song is that when Josh Gad sang, he sound like the original character
No matter how many times i listen to this, all i hear is Olaf singing about how amazing Gaston was.
He is the voice of olaf
Mr. Paxley me too
honestly all i hear is Elder Cunningham 🤷
I didnt notice that until now akjfkd I'll never be able to unhear it
Omg I cant unhear it now.
