I feel like one of the greatest things about the musical is the characters’ personalities and backstories. Like, I’m not really sure, but I feel like they seriously focus on their past. They go into Percy’s trauma and how he’s often blamed; Annabeth’s wish to be remembered, especially since she knows her only power is being “smart”; Grover just wanting to do his best for his friends; and Luke wanting to be seen. I haven’t seen the books in ages, but I almost feel like they do it better than the books.
Shadefire Dragon honestly, the reason i love the musical so much is because they put character work at the forefront. understanding the characters is more important than the quest and i really love that. they put in multiple books worth of backstory and development and i just.. i love that a lot.
i think the fact that i literally scream “YES GO OFF LUKE” every time his solo happens in last day of summer speaks volumes, i think

My favorite song from there is pick a side, because it shows Luke trying to convince both Clarisse and Silena to fight against the gods. I also love how it displays Clarisse’s loyalty and Silena’s want for peace.

Fun fact: I never faced the horror of the movies! I was introduced to PJ by a TLT musical animatic played on my UA-cam auto play. I thought it was such a pop I listened to the rest of them, so basically the whole book was ruined for me (still read it) and I associate all these voices with each of the characters, and when I was reading the Spirit of Alphine's voice I could only think of her song lmaooo

So, Zeus turning Thalia into a tree isn't too outside the mythology the books were based off of.
