Agreed, I wish they show would've shown her relationship in a better light with Selim. because she does run the Harem as Valide for a few years after her fathers death. She and Selim didn't hate each other like portrayed in the show.

Gulfem was always so annoying and so passive-aggressive to me. Like she was always so nosy and had to stick her nose into everyone's business even tho she knew she's nothing and has no power in the palace. Her whole life, in her head she lived in the past, thinking she's still something to Suleyman and the dynasty, but in reality Suleyman only let her stay in the palace because of the pity. As you said, she was more dangerous than others bcs she was a snake, always hiding behind others and changing sides easily and pretending she is innocent in front of Suleyman.

Banishing Shah, the aunt who hate & caused misery for her mother, out of the city and draining her funds, is a well deserved revenge for her. Something like: after hearing Mirimah's demands, Sah stayed silent for a while. Then, to Mirimah's surprise, Sah clapped once and chuckled. -Well, played, Mirimah. It would have been a great scene and it would be consistent with the character of Sah and Mihrimah. And it would be a good lesson to Mihrimah : even if you are very smart never underestimate your opponent (it would have been a better lesson that even Hurrem could not have taught her).

This is not to downplay Mihrimah's intelligence (she is enormously clever so although acknowledging the fact that Suleiman forgiving her everything helped her a lot except for the horrible marriage he forced on her with her mother) I say that but I think Sah was already planning to give up, Mihrimah just sped things up. Sah no longer had a husband (although she is very well to divorce this horrible man) she has failed to bring back happiness to Hatice. When she fought Hurrem it was mainly for Hatice, now that she killed herself she must blame herself (even if she doesn't show it) and has no reason to stay here anymore. Also as she says she doesn't want to fight her own blood (deep down she doesn't hate Mihrimah and even has to sympathize with her, she herself couldn't marry the person she wanted and was forced to to be with another). What is good in this scene is that we see that unlike Ibrahim who refused to accept the "deal" that Hurrem offered him to leave the capital in exchange for his life, Sah accepts which shows that she has more common sense than him. I really liked her relationship with Mercan (too bad we don't see him again in season 4). Frankly their relationship is better and I still don't understand why the plot planned that she was initially in love with Ibrahim, Mercan is much better (even if he is terrifying). Finally, whether we hate or adore Sah, let's recognize that she is the most intelligent and also the most profound antagonist (even if she's a real elitist and a snob, we see that she too is deeply hurt never had the true freedom like to marry the person she loved besides having had Selim Yavuz as a father was surely traumatizing, so that can explain that she is a "ice queen" and has some real redeeming traits if we exclude her faults). In short, she is better than Ibrahim both in intelligence and morality ( so that's why I disagreed when some said that was Ibrahim the most dangerous opponent to Hurrem).
I agree to all fronts. Sah was indeed the toughest opponent Hurrem could ask for. She really helped her stay in shape after all of her recent victories. And while I indeed hated Sah's coldness arrogance and elitism, I respected her for her intelligence rationality and levelheaded approach to things. Quite a refreshing change to plotting Mahidevran and overly emotional Hatice. Plus, Denise cakir was an amazing actress and wore the role of Sah-Huban Sultan perfectly.

If you continue the series, you can see that Shehzade Mehmet dies not long after this confrontation. And Sultan Suleyman mourns the lost of his favourite son. After the burial of Shehzadeh Mehmet, Hurrem Sultan directly comes back (but the older version). So, on screen, Sultan Suleiman never mentioned Shah Sultan after that. He had no time to process everything that was happening 😅

In that scene, if I’m not mistaken, Sunbul was reporting to the Sultanas that Shah Sultan was living in a place to atone for her sins and she’s got no more power.
Sah Sulatana leaving the palace and Istanbul is a big deal, so i think a letter must have been sent to Suleiman right away to inform him of his sister 'choosing' to leave the palace etc... a minor event for the series to show Suleiman reading a letter so the writers probably did not bother to make a scene of it...
Don't get me wrong, these translations are better than some of the other ones, but I've learned enough from watching these shows and studying the language to know when they are adding more to it than what the actors are actually saying and its kinda pointless in my personal opinion. Like the last bit between the guilty servant and Mirimah (yes I know I'm butchering names). Im going to just say M for her...she doesn't say no mercy will be shown. She says the servants name with the title of Lady before she says her name and finishes with the last line of i do not forgive. Sorry, I know its knitpicking lol. I just like to be able to know that what they say is what is translated.
Mihrimah could've handled the situation better by telling her jealous husband right away that she was the one who called M there. Instead she just waits and let things get worse.😂 One of those few occasions she acted dumb (although she did tell Rustem, it was only after he began acting like a bull that we see in Spanish bull fightings).😂😂

Mihrimah was Rustem`s husband, - THAT already meant a lot, that`s why she also had to explain herself before him, - if it wasn`t for his STATUS, she wouldn`t have had to do it. It would have been a great scene and it would be consistent with the character of Sah and Mihrimah. And it would be a good lesson to Mihrimah : even if you are very smart never underestimate your opponent (it would have been a better lesson that even Hurrem could not have taught her).

This is not to downplay Mihrimah's intelligence (she is enormously clever so although acknowledging the fact that Suleiman forgiving her everything helped her a lot except for the horrible marriage he forced on her with her mother) I say that but I think Sah was already planning to give up, Mihrimah just sped things up. Sah no longer had a husband (although she is very well to divorce this horrible man) she has failed to bring back happiness to Hatice. When she fought Hurrem it was mainly for Hatice, now that she killed herself she must blame herself (even if she doesn't show it) and has no reason to stay here anymore. Also as she says she doesn't want to fight her own blood (deep down she doesn't hate Mihrimah and even has to sympathize with her, she herself couldn't marry the person she wanted and was forced to to be with another).
What is good in this scene is that we see that unlike Ibrahim who refused to accept the "deal" that Hurrem offered him to leave the capital in exchange for his life, Sah accepts which shows that she has more common sense than him.
I really liked her relationship with Mercan (too bad we don't see him again in season 4). Frankly their relationship is better and I still don't understand why the plot planned that she was initially in love with Ibrahim, Mercan is much better (even if he is terrifying).
Finally, whether we hate or adore Sah, let's recognize that she is the most intelligent and also the most profound antagonist (even if she's a real elitist and a snob, we see that she too is deeply hurt never had the true freedom like to marry the person she loved besides having had Selim Yavuz as a father was surely traumatizing, so that can explain that she is a "ice queen" and has some real redeeming traits if we exclude her faults). In short, she is better than Ibrahim both in intelligence and morality ( so that's why I disagreed when some said that was Ibrahim the most dangerous opponent to Hurrem).
I agree to all fronts. Sah was indeed the toughest opponent Hurrem could ask for. She really helped her stay in shape after all of her recent victories.
And while I indeed hated Sah's coldness arrogance and elitism, I respected her for her intelligence rationality and levelheaded approach to things. Quite a refreshing change to plotting Mahidevran and overly emotional Hatice.
Plus, Denise cakir was an amazing actress and wore the role of Sah-Huban Sultan perfectly.

If you continue the series, you can see that Shehzade Mehmet dies not long after this confrontation. And Sultan Suleyman mourns the lost of his favourite son.
After the burial of Shehzadeh Mehmet, Hurrem Sultan directly comes back (but the older version). So, on screen, Sultan Suleiman never mentioned Shah Sultan after that. He had no time to process everything that was happening 😅

In that scene, if I’m not mistaken, Sunbul was reporting to the Sultanas that Shah Sultan was living in a place to atone for her sins and she’s got no more power.
Sah Sulatana leaving the palace and Istanbul is a big deal, so i think a letter must have been sent to Suleiman right away to inform him of his sister 'choosing' to leave the palace etc... a minor event for the series to show Suleiman reading a letter so the writers probably did not bother to make a scene of it...

Don't get me wrong, these translations are better than some of the other ones, but I've learned enough from watching these shows and studying the language to know when they are adding more to it than what the actors are actually saying and its kinda pointless in my personal opinion. Like the last bit between the guilty servant and Mirimah (yes I know I'm butchering names). Im going to just say M for her...she doesn't say no mercy will be shown. She says the servants name with the title of Lady before she says her name and finishes with the last line of i do not forgive. Sorry, I know its knitpicking lol. I just like to be able to know that what they say is what is translated.

I literally hate shah sultan. She is so self-serving and cares about nothing but her own dignity.
Mihrimah could've handled the situation better by telling her jealous husband right away that she was the one who called M there. Instead she just waits and let things get worse.😂 One of those few occasions she acted dumb (although she did tell Rustem, it was only after he began acting like a bull that we see in Spanish bull fightings).😂😂
be careful, that YOU are not dumb. :) How could you forget about totally different manners and strict patriachal traditions of those times? Mihrimah was Rustem`s husband, - THAT already meant a lot, that`s why she also had to explain herself before him, - if it wasn`t for his STATUS, she wouldn`t have had to do it.
So, she didn`t want to openly argue with him before another man. Besides she always tried to act classy, as she represented empire, she was Sultan`s daughter, not a flower girl or a market hatun. :))) She was brought up since childhood to always act in accordance with her high STATUS! It meant a huge lot in those times, it often was like a burden, actually.

She is more like her father. She was born into power. Hurrem had to fight for it. But Hurrem taught her well she was born to it and how to keep it. That and how to pull daddy's heart strings. Though they dont say it, there had to have been countless other daughters born to him same as his sisters from his father's harem. But they never enter the picture because she is from Hurrem, his beloved. They should have never underestimated her. That includes her husband. His jealousy and foolishness caused his end. She probably would have let him go on if he understood his place. She is her father's moon but also his true legacy of power. Selim was always Leo's son. He had no spine and was manipulated by a woman. No one controlled her though.
