There is no better feeling than to be hiking your own hike. It's a sense of freedom to your entire day. Its especially important since your body is trying to acclimate to the trail. Your doing GREAT!!
Never seen water and rain on that part of the PCT on anyone's videos before! I need to learn from you... I typically get with a Tramily and do what we all decide to do. I did have a section of VA, MD, and part of PA on the AT when I was a free agent again... but I pushed myself as hard as possible through there! However, it was pretty special to just make my own decisions when I wanted to... keep pressing on if I wanted to or stop.... but also there is something incredible about a Tramily for which I am grateful for all three of mine. I think doing what you are doing you will find yourself amongst others who average the same number of miles, and you will end up with them... but enjoy this time now, and that time will be special for what it is then.
Not to repeat but it’s so true ~ hike your own hike. My hiking buddy and I do around 12 to 15 miles a day. We get up pretty early so there are a lot of times we are in camp around 3:00 ~ just enjoy the quiet time with nature. Gonna be fun watching your journey. Stay safe ~ ❤Rox.
So glad to see you back on the trail again, looking forward to following you on your adventure !! It’s on my bucket list, the AT is first on my list this coming February!!
This is very much NOT a typical year for the amount of water you are seeing. Dry California got pounded with precipitation this year. You will also find that snow you will run into later is more and later than normal also. Don't feel any rush to get to the Sierras. Take it easy and go your own pace. You will find the people that will be going your speed as you proceed. The red tree that you liked is a manzanita.
Thanks for your footage! I start May 1st, and it's super exciting to see what the trail has been like as well as calming my nerves! 🤘
Oh the glorious sound of the Garmin!! Love it!! Happy Trails.
Ahhh! You're sooo cool. Very very proud of you for choosing slow and steady! ❤❤❤

You're smart to start slow. And... smart to hike your own way and speed.
