Thank you for posting this beautiful video capturing Kerala monsoon. This reminds those of us who spent their childhood in this beautiful state decades ago, when the state was still a pristine beauty. The state was primarily rural and an agrarian economy with large swath of paddy fields everywhere which had small and medium type houses built with red stones and red roof tiles or palm leaves which matched the landscape perfectly and added beauty to it. During monsoon agricultural fields and village tanks get filled with fresh and clear water. Children used to walk to schools alongside paddy field canals watching water life in the canals and paddy fields or float paper boats on race canal waters to see whose boat reach first before they reach the school. Children spent their spare time swimming in their house or temple tanks for hours. Many children walk to the paddy fields to extend a helping hand to elders when they learn the basics of farming. These were the normal activities of most of the rural children during the bygone days but the landscape has totally changed now. Children no longer do what we did in our childhood and it is doubtful whether they enjoy the monsoon or the nature like as much as we did in our childhood. Kerala was a blessed land with natural beauty and great culture but our political leadership never thought of preserving this precious treasure and allowed those who had money to do anything they want including destruction of nature. Building houses became a competitive activity giving scant regard for the natural beauty of the landscape. Indiscriminate construction of buildings mainly for housing was the bane to this beautiful landscape. Who is to blame for destroying Kerala - the people or the political set up?
it's still the same in villages except nowadays there is bus for students. the nature is just like that in village and paddy fields are all still there. illegal construction take place in many hilly areas and paddy fields but it's like .1 percent of total.
