I wish I could count for a million views and likes. I watch every new upload the day it comes out. Watching while eating or working on something is so enjoyable. I love watching the game but also understand the effects of lower viewership when this is your main form of income. All I can say is you deserve to have a lot more people watching but that is no fault of your own. Every video is entertaining and informative. I also enjoy the shops much more than the autobattler itself. 10/10 Ben 10/10
even though backpack isnt doing as well i appreciate you still posting daily videos. i watch them every morning and are part of my routine. on that note maybe swapping to another rogue like might be an option because there are a lot of overlap in multiple rogue like communities ware you can still transfer some of your community to another game while you work on building up more for your watchers of the new game
I look forward to both backpack battles content and any other game you may decide to play in the future. If you do decide to play other games, you may see a decrease in viewers before an increase. Thank you for making the lovely videos!
I stopped playing backpack after ragequitting trying to climb masters but I like watching your vids still. Depending on what you move on to I’ll keep watching 😊
I'm sorry to learn that your videos don't work as much as you want them to. I started to watch you because I like BP very much and also I don't understand all of what you say (I'm belgian french speaker) I'm always very happy when you post a new video. Keep them coming ! I wish you all the best :)
If you suspect that players are losing interest in the game or that things have gotten stale for a lot of people then why not reflect that in how you're pushing content? Put yourself in the mindset of the type of viewer you're trying to pull in. You're kind of bored of the game. It's fun, but you've done or seen all the interesting things already and are just waiting for the next big patch. You haven't played in weeks but the algorithm hasn't caught up yet and still suggests occasional videos about it to you. Are you likely to click on a video called "The strongest weapon combo in backpack battles" which tries to appeal to you as if you still have an interest in learning what builds are strong in a game you don't intend to play anytime soon? How about on a video that claims it's doing a known build "again" or "The no. 1 build" for a class implying it's just another meta run? I'm certainly no expert at this kind of thing and I'm not going to pretend I have an answer for what makes a good title or thumbnail. This is your career and I'm sure you have far more knowledge and experience in that regard than I ever will. From the way you talk though it just seems like you have a model of the viewers you're trying to attract but then don't act on that information. The best video you had this week in terms of views was the only one that promised some kind of novelty and that doesn't seem like a mistake. If the playerbase is getting bored of the game then they just aren't going to care about what builds win the hardest or getting an incremental advantage against the current meta. If the playerbase is bored that means they'll only click on your video if they think there's something in it that they haven't seen before. Something that will make them feel less bored.
Every time i've tried more creative content it flopped, usually new builds or highroll games perform best. But it's hard to consistently pull off, especially when the meta punishes you really hard for experimenting. Effort just hasn't been rewarded for this niche, and I made Hearthstone content for many years where exactly the same happens (if your main audience is there for education/gameplay, which has always been my niche). Just to give you some extra insights: majority of my viewerbase are casuals that watch me in the background, while eating or trying to fall asleep. The other (smaller) part are usually people wanting to learn about the game or discovering new builds. This also includes my streams. Any sort of guides, special concepts like speedrunning, discussions etc perform bad because of it. The time invested never equals the results you get. Sure, i could full pivot, but this game already has such a small and declining playerbase that cultivating something like this is just too draining and perhaps not possible. Idk if this clears things up but when I complain it's not just "oh views are going down im doing nothing about it this sucks...". I spend many nights thinking about these things, comparing, talking to other creators and looking at stats. Content creation will sadly always depend on the niche you create for, and the audience you have for it.
oh but i will say it got rather lazy with titles/thumbnails because of how difficult it is to find something again for a magic torch build.. which is one of the few good games i got on stream
I hate to say it but to get more engagement on YT for niche games like this, you NEED to use shorts. Condense an entire vid into a 30 seconds of gameplay and fights that tell you nothing. it seems back asswards but YT runs that way.
Hearing you talk about how poor backpack battles is for metrics every video probably isn't the best idea for keeping viewer retention, I don't want to tune into every video and hear negative feedback about the video. It's like you expect BB to be dead soon but you're also accelerating that existance
brother i don't talk about it ever game, but it's a topic i like discussing because it's important to me. Don't think I'm accelerating it's decline, if anything i do the opposite by still being one of the few that consistently uploads and streams it lol
@BensBackpack maybe every time is hyperbole but it's been repeated a lot lately and it's going to make your viewers less interested in the game if you're saying out loud the game is less interesting.
I talk about things I want to share, if for some reason that makes people less interested in the game, then so be it. People can choose to consume my content or not, I'll always be who I am and I don't plan on changing that
@BensBackpack yeah I respect it. I've just been waiting for you to hop onto slay or something to watch you enjoy playing your game of choice. It was really cool watching someone really smart play BB for so long

been thinking about checking out slay the spire too!
@@BensBackpackSlay the spire is endless content love that game
@@BensBackpack slay the spire will probably be well received, great game and a growing community with not too many content creators for it.
You could give the UA-cam chanel a new name ana make votes what you want to play and vote what we want ro see
I like your style dude, just keep going. Maybe you could play other weird indie games like this.
Ive been using this combo for awhile, its pretty nice when you get it going
