Woah I made an actual song. On Garage Band. Using a text to speech program originally from 1982.
I’m back already! Happy October! Ermmm i was kinda working on this and the It Should’ve Been Me piano cover simultaneously so uhh that’s why they’re uploaded so close together. I know this is different than my usual stuff but I figured I’d put it here since this is like my music spot.
I’ve been able to mess around on garage band more since I got a better iPad with 256 GB STORAGE??? Yeah it’s been cool to put my piano skills to use there. I didn’t originally plan to post this, but I decided to make a video for funsies and I realized I was really proud of both it and the song so I wanted to share. I’m obviously not an expert on mixing or producing or anything like that, but I sure do love to make little tunes and draw silly little guys!
I came up with an idea for a song using an old TTS software while I was looking out the window on a road trip, so I found an online Javascript adaptation of SAM, a text to speech program originally released on 8-bit home computers in 1982. SAM can’t sing but it can spell and say edgy things lmao. To think that this used to be revolutionary in 1982 and now it just sounds so crunchy and im using it to sound nostalgic 😭

Today, I learned a new word! The silly little tune is really good and the funny little guy in the video is cute; they're just a little melting tub of Sherbert ice cream. I'm such a sucker for vintage tech and smiley faces. 👏👏👏

SAM has better intonation than some modern text-to-speech stuff, i am genuinelly impressed by this guy.

who would've guessed that the amount of dots (.) you put after his words would impact how long he holds out his phonemes. SAM's really neat.
Yeah he’s definitely crunchy, but really good for his time!!! i think its fun to mess with how many vowels you put in words because that will affect how long he draws the word, and also adjust the speed and pitch. it you make him talk faster and higher, he’ll sound more excited lol. Genuine early internet gem tbh

@@Matchbox-P he doesn’t really have lore he’s just a representation for the song lol, but with the melting i was going for like. a visual representation of a breaking facade. while an eccedentesiast may appear happy externally, there's that part of them that is slowly unraveling and revealing their true feelings.
