- a demonstration of the moonflower pickups installed in a recently refinished yamaha sg2000. Played through a Mesa Mk1 amp with Altec 417 8h series alnico speaker.
i demonstrate not only the pickup, but also the method used to recreate the tones Carlos Santana got using this type of guitar.
Fab I love your pick up demo videos mate - really give a great idea how they actually sound - loads of other big production vids lose the personal feel your videos give. And I'm loving the Moonflower set through my Orange Rockerverb - killer tone as cheap as chips- they are best bargains on Ebay
Hello, great video and demonstration.. His first two albums which I adore the tone, Carlos was using Fender twin amps with Altec 417 8H speakers. The amps had a different speaker grill cloth. Also, he used the P90 single coils. Thanks.......
That guitar is GORGEOUS! Sounding and looking.
This is the sound for this guitar type - very good done !
Fantastic!..Right on the money!!..
Sounds great. And your pickups don't break the bank. Cool...
There was a half compilation/half live Santana album called Viva Santana. The live songs were from the mid to late 70s and this is 100% the sound burned into my ears. Sound phenomenal
I have LIX in my monty guitar and they are the best pick ups I ever heard
FAB! Sounds great, from what I can tell!
Terrific sounding pickups - thank you so much for making this video. I have an SG 2000 with Yamaha pups - but having watched this video I think I need to swap them out for some Moonflower pickups.
exactly all the aspects that i love in a truly good SG style of guitar
"Sustain for Days"
Would be nice to know exactly what the pickups contribute.
Sounds awesome
Vast improvement over the Yamaha pickups - measured mine 7k bridge/7.5k neck wth A5s... Okay, there more to it than just the numbers, but underwound and A5? Even I know that's a bad combination in a humbucker... unless you're trying to make a 'bucker sound like a Gretsch.
That is nice
Youve got the sanatana tone....
What guitar these days would come close to these tones? Im not an expert but i kinda got those tones in a Gibson Studio butnim sure these Sg2000s are a whole different level. How come PRS cannot replicate this sound? Or can they but dont want to? A special wood or technology from those eras ?
Great demo ! What an alternative to this 417-8h would you suggest that's still available ? Is there one from Celestion that fits the range ?
Sounds like 100 gallons of sweet syrup. Nice! :)
