"you can play yourself my ass". I'm a curvy woman with big boobs. I can't create a curvy female character with big boobs cause apparently my body type doesen't exist
@@fieryapple7020 dragon's Dogma 2 is where you shine. They allow for curvy, big body, small body, tall, short. I love their character creation. You can even make 2 different eyes with multiple colors. I love the look of my character and my main pawn. The eyes especially. It's cool seeing them in cutscenes
@@bwestacado9643 dude even just Dogma 1 has an insane CC. But yeah you can’t truly make who you want. Shit even with classes. Blood Magic is seen as wholly evil in this world. But in Origins and 2 it can be argued you’re either going dark or the ends justify the means. There’s chances for character building there. Now I don’t know why after Origins they decided to only have three specializations per class. It wasn’t in Inquisition but Necromancer was super cool and Rift Mage was unique. But in Veilguard they say ‘Rook doesn’t like it(Blood Magic).” That is not for you to decide! That’s for the player for their Rook! Hell Assassin; another staple class in RPGs isn’t in Veilguard. Duelist is. And guess who teach you dueling: The Antivan Crows. You know how they’re renowned duelists. Not like the very first Crow you meet is one that was contracted to kill you or anything. This game is a goddamn skinwalker.
Well you see. Characters that look like you attract the hideous and infernal male gaze. The valiant white knights at Bioware are simply trying to protect you from the lascivious attentions of straight men.
Hilarious that you don’t get representation unless you get a reduction, THEN you can use the chest scars, the same ones they intended for 0.001% of the population.
Funny but it has place to be, what if Darkseid and Blight were a "Truth and Savior" all along, and it's we with our corrupt minds can't see a real way it is, brainwashed by corporate shills we can't even see real light that is not a white or yellow.
22:40 - And there it is. THAT is the reason for the art style change in the Qunari. Because with the appearance they had in DA2 and Inquisition, you couldn't slap real world ethnicities onto their designs. So that's why they did this. They had to make them more human so that players can make sure they can "see themselves" in their characters. I dunno about you reading this, or anyone else, but I don't WANT to see myself in my character. I'm gonnna have to quote (and slightly paraphrase) ERB's impression of JRR Tolkien to address the Bioware devs here: "The genre's called FANTASY! It's meant to be unrealistic, YOU MYOPIC MANATEES!" That's why I'm always making my characters really thin, with a really deep and dark shade of blue hair, and blood red eyes. Or a cool looking lizard or cat person, where applicable. Or just a sexy woman. It's not meant to resemble me, it's meant to look cool.
@dantepizza6310 malignant narcissism is why. I want to roleplay as a completely different person from myself in the roleplay game; they want to inject themselves and their ludicrous ideology into a fantasy setting where those ideologies don't even exist.
Yeah the whole deal that every fantasy race now needs to conform to the exact same ethnical variety as humans is obnoxious to me. These are not humans ffs.
If the Qunari initially had Asian phenotype faces, I would be fine with it. But instead by diversifying the Qunari, the elves, etc. with multiple human race homologs it breaks suspension of disbelief. Because humanity evolved into different races based on distance and geography, which means shoehorning it into Thedas they're implying Thedas is like 15x bigger than Earth because now not only are qunari or elves or whatever are sequestered from other species but have to be sequestered from EACH OTHER to split up into different races. And with the elves this flies in the face of the history of how the elves have evolved on Thedas. In real life, to have distinct races living together requires two basic things: a history of segregation and then recent integration. In Thedas the vast majority of people are limited to travel on foot or by saddle, so where is the melting pot demographics coming from? What made people able to easily get together NOW? And what prevented people before that? It doesn't work in this context. And whether people can identify this and articulate it, they can sense it's bs and something is off. And this isn't even considering all the political reasons why travel in Thedas would be limited, warring kingdoms and all that.
It's faux fantasy. Fantasy is romanticism which strictly opposes modernity like racial diversity and color blindness. Hence, Modernity fits far better in sci-fi than fantasy.
Fair point, but you do know that for US developers every world and every place is a modern day LA or NY, even places as Slavic mythology we get from them Brooklyn street instead of Brokilon forest.
Guess I’m a racist black guy for pointing out their weird fetishization of black people that they only ever use one of 3 hairstyles. But hey I’m the racist though. Also Cassandra was my first playthru romance in Inquisition so that guy using one very vocal opinion to pin the blame on everyone else is just hilarious if not sad attempt to deflect.
you're probably a racist because they can't deal with your opinion, lol. They can't deal with women disliking their games. Gay, trans, anyone who disagrees, they cannot deal with.
I romanced Josephine in one playthrough and Dorian in another. But according to these devs I'm a racist & a homophobe lol Now you got me reminiscing of banging Josephine on her desk next to the war-table 😂 I wouldn't want to take any of these new characters anywhere. Not even to a funeral. Let alone onto a desk. 💀
Exactly my point as well. They humanized all distinct races with cosplay parts. Qunari, Elves, Dwarves are all human-looking, with stereotypical Hollywood race accents (chinese elves sounds chinese, black elves sounds african american for exemple). Remove the pointy ears of the elves, the stupid horns of the qunari, and they are just,... American citizens. F-ck world building and lore in the name of forced diversity and inclusion, right?
Guess I'm a racist brown guy for wanting the option to play as a blood mage who can kill his companions or have one of them straight up executed! That's just a joke, I never killed any of them. But I definitely would like to be given the choice to do so..... Especially with the companions we're getting this time around.
hey thinking "culturally hired" workers to do that is too difficult for them...think about their skills. What comes around goes around lol hire stupid ppl get stupid results lol.
I seriously will kill All my companions if I can be a blood mage again… so op & the darkness I want in video games like BG3 I killed a few party members for power lol
David Gaider on leaving bioware. He said that writing went from being valued to being “quietly resented” at BioWare, and indicated that the lack of support for writing at the studio in those later years contributed to his departure. Which is from an article talking about when he left. Kinda weird he's doing all this now.
He's salty because DA is his baby and these people have destroyed it, but lashing out against the studio would blacklist him towards any other employers, so instead he's attacking the fans who also see the crap they've made of the franchise and call it out (mostly disrespectfully too)
@@Alwaysttangoplus gaider was always rude at ppl, if you look up his post history and response to ppl, he was always like this since the beginning And yeah he cant trashtalk the company so he ended up trashtalking the audience
Wtf, that what keep them srong all these years!? Like why appeal to the bew audiences? Just because they are willing to pay 300 dollars if they sre represented. Hell we need to call this games for what they are. Firsr dragon age was dark fantasy, same as 2nd and 3rd just fsntasy but this one is LGBTQ FANTASY 😂
It's just like Bioware. "Here's a bunch of different races but they're actually all exactly the same with the same thoughts and motivations despite historically being not only culturally but biologically different."
Indeed. All the talent that gave us so many great RPG's has long since fled that company. Now Bioware is just made up of mentally ill activists with an axe to grind.
Its the ship of theseus. If you replace all of Biowares talent over time, is it still really Bioware? Or is it a completely different company, with different priorities, just using the same name?
I waited SO fucking long for a return of one of my favorite fantasy worlds of all time.. Dragon Age Dreadwolf and it's concept art looked so good.. then years past, nothing really shown and then... veilguard is revealed, I coped a bit, maybe it wouldnt be as bad as it looked. Then all the stuff came out about it and now I have realized that such a cherished series of mine is dead. :( Then the devs attack the fans for not being excited for the game. Why is solas shoved to the side? It's already bad enough that DA2's mage war kinda got sidelined for inquisition. Then now SOLAS's story gets sidelined for whatever the hell veilguard is about? Why? The return of origin stories for characters seemed promising, just for them to only be a text blurb and some minor buffs. Nothing that gave you gamplay of your unique character's story.
Hinterlands wasnt the problem. Them shoving in meaningless ubisoft collect the towers, collect the constellations/skulls, collect the whatever check box style questing that was the problem. But all in all, it was fine.
I feel ya 😔 Excited at first, then after Anthem there was an announcement that the next Dragon Age would be online live service. Huuuge backlash got them to backtrack on that decision and then I remained hopeful. Cautious, but hopeful. Now it's just gone, bit by bit my hope got chipped away. Sooooo many lead-developers, designers and writers gone. It's hard to call this "Bioware" at all. And the direction of this game doesn't inspire much hope for Mass Effect either. And yes! Hinterlands was a solid concept, it just needed improvement in the sequel - by getting some well-designed side-quests and some more engaging side-content.
But we got heterosexual actors voice acting homosexuals plus more independent homosexual “females” in Inquisition.. I HOPED DA4 would go back to its dark strategy roots but here we are… more gays, another action slash, & bright lights😑
The devs worked they asses out for this game then everything went down because people calling it "woke", Dragon Age was always inclusive since Origins... Idk wth the anti woke gang are complaining so much and people are buying this narrative, the game looks awesome, but because its "woke" people are mad, I'd be pissed if I was a dev, if some day these guys stop making their games inclusive after this backlash I'll stop buying their games because I always bought them happy that I could be whatever I want to in a dark fantasy game.
@@spacesushi210 always inclusive? Do you understand that there is a thing called "going to far"? I want believable inclusion, fitting for the setting, not whatever is hip at the moment downtown LA. That means you can absolutelly have one, or maybe two gay companions. Everyone being pan is just not that. That is forced tokenism. Also top surgery in a setting with body shifting magic LMAO. You go on about "being whatever i want in a dark fanstasy game" which is great, but you don't allow me to do the same. Because i want to at least have the option to play a character who doesn't go along with every modern sensibility
I agree with most of this but the "Hinter Lands Problem" Quote on Quote This really wasn't just a problem in the hinterlands. The entire game of DA:I had the problem of big empty open areas full of crap side content. This was due to poor design process where the level designers ran train while everyone was stuck desperately fumbling with the engine. So you had these massive areas filled with well... nothing. The Hinterlands was quite literally full of test quests that were put in when testing the engine to get things to work how those stayed in IDK. But overall the open world in DA:I was defiantly the weakest part of it because it was redundant and this is in a game full of a ton of weak links. Origins did it right imo where it's semi-open world. Not everything needs Ubisoft worlds. But this time they likely went too far the other way so what can ya do. The management at Bio-ware is a dead horse at this point of incompetency.
I could never finish DAI playthrough in one sitting. Ever. I would always quit halfway for months or even year or so. It's always that "thinking of playing it" > "actually playing it". I always had to push myself to finish it, or riding on DA Keep to motivate me to keep going. DAI was a mediocre game, with few good things spread apart. It didn't need to be open world, it's open world was empty and soulless. Hinterlands is just the biggest, earleist example, but it's far from only one, you got couple of zones you never actually need to do to progress the main story. I remember doing few of them once i was late 3/4 into game, and it was ridiculous, and it wasn't much better doing it other way around. If DAI was a dish, it'd be a watery stew with few decent pieces of meat and bunch of mostly clear water, with not too much spice in it. If good 30-40% of game was trimmed down, and the good part was expanded upon, it would have been far better.
I remember being called a tourist for simply criticizing the fact they every choice you made in previous games didn't matter anymore. All the while pointing out important decisions you can make from past games like deciding to romance Morrigan or not in DA Origins to your specific class as Hawk in DA 2 and who you sacrificed in DA Inquisition when escaping the fade. If I were a tourist, I wouldn't know what I was talking about, so I just laughed in their face.
These are fanatics they will never hear reason much like people don't want to hear that Inquisition is inferior to Origins from every point of view like every sequel they've ever made, it has its flaws but it's better in everyway to its sequels, i'm here laughing at Inquisition fans who just 9-10 years ago praised Inquisition to the havens however now they hate on the very same thing just more of it LOL.
The only kind of character creator we need is Dragon's Dogma 2's style. You can create your ideal husbando or waifu, whether a twink femboy or a huge bulky bear daddy; a petite lady or a boobarian dommy mommy; or you can create the most horrible sleep paralysis demon. You can even use the well designed scar system to position your own top surgery scars if you want, as long as you learn to use the sliders. That's true inclusivity. Meanwhile Veilguard can't even make breasts and ass larger than mine, which is average at best.
I fail to understand why I can't create a beautiful CURVY female protagonist in a game where I'm going to spend countless hours playing. Instead we get no hips, mosquito bites on the chest and spider bites on the rear ....oh wait there's no spiders in the game because that was removed because of phobia.
I played inquisition on release - the “hinterlands problem” was a very real, very common complaint. People were spending too much time in the hinterlands doing boring fetch quests, causing them to burn out on the game. The common advice was to not get caught up trying to do everything there before moving on. Great video, just wanted to point this out.
The real Bioware is already gone a long time ago. I'm hoping this game bombs so that fake Bioware can finally disappear forever. Real Bioware made games like Baldur's Gate I & II, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights, and Dragon Age Origins. Fake Bioware gave us Anthem, ME Andromeda, the ultra boring Dragon Age Inquisition, and the ending to Mass Effect 3.
i just hope that this is the last time this trash company keeps smearing bioware's name with these crap games. its a shame that now Bioware will be known for three terrible failures back to back as much as for the great games they made in the past.
I still cannot get over those "floating" rats at 6:18. It looks unfinished. Also, everything is sopping wet, except for the characters. They're covered in hyper realistic, static raindrops, but there are no wet textures on the gear or skin. We had all that in Inquisition! It's such a stark contrast to the detailed environments, same with the airbrushed faces of the characters. It's as if two different teams worked on this. One that knew what they were doing, and the other, well, not so much. Now, one might say this is a weird thing to get hung up on, but it's the sum of these things. It's an indicator for what the game will be like. Your comparison to Ubisoft and "doing the bare minimum" is spot on! It also shows in the writing. I mean, look at this exchange from a cut scene: Rook: Solas warned me about them being evil [...] He said they were horrific tyrants. Harding: Tyrants so powerful elven history remembers them as gods. Neve: So instead of one … god … running around, we have two. And they’re not just powerful, they’re blighted. _Tyrants, tyrants, powerful, gods, god, powerful_ _evil, horrific_ _not one, [but] two_ _powerful, blighted_ It's repetitive af! The language used is too modern and barely above elementary school level. Add to that the fact that during the whole scene, everybody just sits there all stiff.
I've seen a lot of people bring this up online back when the gameplay reveal came out. Not once was it mentioned by these devs. It's all white noise to them. The bland writing only serves to sap even more 'life' and 'fantasy' from the setting and characters.
@@slyaspie4934 you're both not far off from the truth. "Deadwolf" Locations were all finished and complete not long after it was named "Dreadwolf", they had been doing Location designs based on the Lore and playing around with concepts before then, they then started working on a rough story idea for the Locations... a lot of effort went into it. The more recent creation of the Live Service game was being made by another team and had their character creator finished and most of their character Designs finished as well as how they wanted their story to go, they just didn't have Locations designed yet... When the projects merged and became "The VeilGuard" they sorta just smashed it all together which is why the Characters all look out of place, they weren't designed for these Locations.
@@xLionsxxSmithyx At some point they definitely changed the way the characters looked. There was a gameplay leak of Dreadwolf years ago featuring Davrin and Rook, they looked like they fit the world. Your point about them using characters from the live service version does explain the uncanny feeling those models give off when placed in the environments.
The hinterlands problem was that it was a massive area with no content. All the maps in the game existed just for them to randomly distribute the same 5 gimmicks, collect the gems, get power by fighting the same 5 demons and closing veil holes "oblivion gates"
The reason hinterlands was a problem was because there was no reward for exploring, in every rpg that's been made, exploring leads to interesting encounters. Hinterlands there just was none. Eg in an elder scrolls open world something new pops up if you just walk around somewhere new
people got to keep their personal agendas and politics to themselves when a project involves everyone else's job i know for a fact no one logically in that studio thought the qunari looked good...they not only cheapened the look but also retconned the lore.
Being able to be a "good guy" or a "bad guy" has been a core pillar of every Bioware RP game. Baldu'rs Gate, NWN1, KOTOR, Jade Empire, DAO, ... they tried to dress it up differently, like in Jade Empire it is Open Palm and Closed Fist, but in truth it is still being cartoonishly good and absurdly evil. And that was _the point_ - you are playing a game, you are meant to be able to play situations out you can never do in real life. Like, no well adjusted real person would, for example, ruin the life of a sweet old granny by not helping her out just because a conman gives you a few silver coins. Yet that you COULD, that you could see how that would change things, was the point of a Bioware RPG. "We wont put that into the game cause it is evil" - those pathetic excuses for devs do not understand what the old Bioware, the *true* Bioware, stood for.
Guess I'm a racis white guy because I've commented under one of the DA superfan's video a bit negatively about the character creator but still being respectful to their opinion, because my comment was removed and after I've called them out with the "So much for free speech." thing, they've just replied that my comment was transphobic and misogynistic, even tho my comment did not include anything like that other than that "I'm very sceptical and careful with this game right now and I don't like the message that the developers are trying to send towards the players", I've also didn't describe what I've meant by "message". The fragile side of the force is strong with them. 🙄
I guess Dragon Age Veilguard is basically going to be the game version of rings of power. And its not a AAA game, its a triple WWW game, lots of wokenes.
You know what let me weigh in on this with a simple comparisons to what isn't even the best Dragon Age game; Dragon Age 2. I get Dragon Age 2 had plenty of problems, but all in all, it still felt like a Dragon Age game. The characters fit the setting, their stories are grim, I can grow attached to each of them to the point that I would want to do a second playthrough. It wasn't afraid to touch on serious and dark topics like sexual assault, slavery, abuse of power, necrophilia and literal terrorist attacks. This was shit that really made you pause the game and take a second to go "Damn...". Hell, Merril will forever be my favorite Dragon Age romance option. Not just because she's cute, but because she brought up interesting points about blood magic as a whole. ...I can't point to a single interesting-looking character or topic in Dragon Age Veilgaurd. Not one of them stands out as badass, attractive or even worth a second glance. Not even just that, I can't imagine Veilgaurd having the balls to touch on ANY of the hard and dark topic I listing from Dragon Age 2. And Dragon Age 2 isn't nearly as dark and gritty as Origins. So what am I left with to be invested in in Veilgaurd?
The real world ethnic representation in elves and dwarves was present in BG3 too but I was called racist for complaining about it because people actually liked that game.
Yeah, its sad to see how hypocritical people where regarding BG3. It was just as woke as any of the slop we refuse to buy and yet nobody acknowledges it. True, it released just before GG2 really kicked off, so it dodged some of the scrutiny. But its really not hard to see the political messaging within it.
@@Erowens98- Baldurs Gate 3 is a good gaming experience that doesn’t force the agenda on you. It’s just there as a choice, like many other choices, and that gives you freedom to choose and identify yourself. Dragon Age Inquisition did it that way as well. But now they want to force us gamers to choose their preferences as the only way to play and that is simple tyranny.
As a (former) Bioware fan, I waited so long for what I thought was gonna be hit focusing on a story about Solas. Turns out Bioware wasted YEARS switching back and forth between what kind of game they were going to make. First it was going to be single player. Then it was multiplayer. (Something nobody wanted) As evidenced by Andromeda. Then it became singleplayer again, but they had wasted so much time that they didn't have any time left to make a compelling story or different body styles for different races or include player choices. Bioware ended up slapping something together with what they had and flowering it up with DEI and fancy special effects and throwing it up on the market. The resulting game turned out to just be a mish mash of garbage as a result. Bioware messed up and they aren't willing to acknowledge their mistake for loss of revenue and it's going to cost them even more now.
Time for studios to shutdown. How bizarre that companies can stay in business when it’s employees lack talent, fail to meet customers expectations and insult its fan base on top of that.
Great video. Unlike the last hack, who's video I just wasted 10 minutes of my life on, you have interesting things to say. "Origins" was amazing. The prologue did a masterful job at setting the tone for this dark, doomed world, and I was hooked from the start. Watching Duncan kill the dude who refused to drink from the chalice was gut wrenching. The aesthetic of the darkspawn was as brutal and metal as it gets. Incredible and sad how ridiculous this new game looks compared to that. R.I.P. Bioware.
But modern devs don't care about fans, and that's that. They don't care about anything but indulging themselves and making games in their own image, twisted, bancrupt, insecure, lacking any principles and poorly made. Which then inevitably flops. As will this one. This is sad because an almost perfect blueprint of what they should do to make a succesful Dragon Age game exists. If they lack originality ,and clearly they do, just copy and paste what was done before only improving, erm modernising visiuals, combat and some mechanisms. That done make sure you haven't inserted any of the WOKE crap. That's it. Done. You just won the lottery. But no, that can't be done. Arrogance of modern developers and artst fartsy woke crowd knows no bounds. They know better than millions of fans who need to be educated. Sure the devs do. They know how to destroy the game, studio and entire IP. They excell in it.
15 years since the launch of the first DA game, and my wife and I still have animated discussions about who is a better choice for the throne in Orzammar, what fate Loghain deserves, how to look at Anders’ actions, the finer moral points of the whole Circles vs Templars situation and our standing in it, what to do with the Chargers or Cullen’s lyrium addiction, and so on. I wager a case of your favourite drink that there will be no impactful choices that we’ll still talk about by next summer in DA:V.
Honestly, I'm living for this drama! Bioware really went all out with the questionable decisions this time. If they can't see how they've completely shot themselves in the foot with this move, it's almost laughable. It's like they're trying to top CDPR's infamous release fail, and somehow, they're succeeding at it. This is a good thing cause this would be the same team doing Mass Effect 4. Let that sink in for a moment.
People keep saying the linear god of war map is more like origins and all i uave to say to that is no, origins had small open areas you could travel between with numerous missions in each section this game is like doom levels of linear, honestly the people who keep saying its more like origins i can tell never played origins

The thing is those companies lose focus over the years from their original goal so once they die (bankrupt) new companies will take place, it's actually a good thing; If I take AC for example regardless of the recent controversy the series degrade over time, we just have to accept it, let those garbage games die and new will rise up!
I once told my project manager (i am a freelancer), that something doesn't work within the given schedule. That prompted her to tell me "ah yes, thank you" and then she went to their internal Mental Health person and was in there for an hour, afterwards i was told i was toxic and harmed an employee, i did not understand what they meant at all until i heard about what happened... she also didn't want to hear that we worked a bit overtime to make the deadline and fix issues, since "they are not that company" and that almost cost me my job. (The schedules were extremely tight so overtime is almost always a must)
What's going on with the sudden surge of big-brained Spanish/Eastern-European creators who speak better English than we do? 😅 Great vids man. We're a Canadian mostly politics channel, but our posts on X about Veilguard have been our biggest all week! Maybe we should flip to gaming? But seriously, post-Gamergate 2.0, gamers are having their Freedom Convoy moment. Keep it up!
feels weird playing as rook not even a background introduction like inquisition or other DA games edit: this game is definitely not worth supporting if someone still want to play this game despite the issues i suggest you sail to the seven seas instead of paying ang supporting this devs, definitely not worth it better save your money for other games or for BM wukong DLC
Thank you for making such a comprehensive review. Too many Veilguard reviews focus almost exclusively on it's ridiculously hamfisted approach towards inclusion of woke and LGBTQ elements. This was one of those games that I knew was going to be bad after playing for less than a minute. I found the story and gameplay to be so bad that I got a refund in less than two hours. I also would like to point out that high fantasy uses medieval Europe as a model. If you do not see a race, gender, or whatever represented, it is probably because it was not there.
Oh thank you! 😁 This was all pre-launch, though. Just based off of some infomation and leaks. I am putting myself through it to review it in-detail, I'm currently editing my first video on that... It will be popping up in a few hours. I hate that some of the criticism towards the game is just being reduced to "oh this is just another bigot hating" when this game is actually SO massively flawed... Whether or not Bioware cares to listen to feedback to better themselves as they're making Mass Effect, at least the criticism will be there.
its really sad i really wanted this too be good been waiting 10 years, and we get this shitshow i cant even bring myself to buy it and i am a Hugh fan of DA also totally agreed about the semi open world of inquisition i loved being able to explore and go where i wanted, it wasn't a issue at all for most players, i hate being rail roaded down a one way street in these linear games, probably the number one reason i wont be buying this. unless its on a deep deep sale, not to mention the cartoon Pixar graphics, and the bullshit new combat system, with no tactical mechanics at all.
This is not an isolated problem, related only to Gaming Industry - but rather a generalized plague that started slowly since mid 80' (I would argue). Before, we had the culture of "producer makes good products" - craftsmen. But the consumer culture changed that into - craftmanship does not matter, but how you use "sale tactics" to sell promises of something that is not. Before, a paint had value according to the painter and his skills in painting - now, nothing of that matters. You just need to "fool" people to buy your frozen shit as an "ice cream". Is this game a bad game/product? Perhaps not, but it certainly is a BAD Dragon Age - just shit on stick sold as my favorite ice cream.
Great video, you already know I enjoy your content, consistently the most level headed takes on these issues that I can find on youtube. I've never personally been a huge fan of Dragon Age, since I prefer more action-oriented titles most of the time, though BG3 has shaken that somewhat so I may end up trying the older titles. Ironically, I would've been interested in Veilguard since it seems to lean further into action combat and the gameplay itself looks polished. But the extreme virtue signaling of the literal mastectomy scars in the creator, and the extreme hideousness of the Qunari (which is also a virtue signal) along with the devs literally insulting fans openly, has put me completely off the game. I know now that playing this game would be a waste of my time and money. For a future video I'd be interested in your take on Space Marine 2 and how it contrasts with current woke failure releases, the fact that its extremely successful while featuring examples of natural/organic diversity which is not forced but simply happens naturally as the devs crafted a story true to the lore and what fans wanted. I think it's an example of how games used to be made and the fact that organic diversity has been in games forever and there was never a need for checking boxes to increase diversity in the first place. Now there are articles going around about how 40k is inherently fascist and racist etc etc. I'd be super interested in your take on that topic. Just an idea. Great content, keep ut up Dez 🤙
Thanks a lot! I appreciate it 🤠 A few months ago what I would've done is get Dragon Age Origins and play through the old ones instead, but as a growing yet starving channel I can't ignore the fact that my videos on Veilguard did far better than anything else (except for the one on Act Man, of course) So I might end up keeping an eye on a local used store and grab it as fast as possible (or use EA Play) to force myself through that mess and make my own review calling out all of these bullsh*t glowing reviews giving 9's and 10's. As for Space Marines 2, I am most likely going to be staying away from diving into it as a topic. There is FAR TOO MUCH that I don't know about the Warhammer 40K universe. There have been several things I've learned over the past couple weeks that bring the game down a notch. There is still absolutely worth in showing it as an example that what people want is to just play a good game, with some action, in a rich fantasy setting that doesn't rip them out with overt ideological injections, and as far as speaking of it as an EXAMPLE amongst other examples, I'm cool with. But definitely not as a main video since I'm missing a looot of lore and context to actually speak of it in more depth. But thanks for the suggestion regardless, I appreciate any ideas. 🙏
@@TheDezembro Hey man, that makes total sense that you'd want a solid foundation of context if you were gonna do a video, I respect that. I didn't know whether you'd had any exposure to Warhammer, I will say incidentally, Space Marine 2 is my first exposure to the franchise and it got me hooked and looking up lore videos online, the gameplay and story is just that good I was immediately hooked. I even bought a tabletop miniature which I've never done in my life lmao. Videos aside, gamer to gamer I HIGHLY recommend it if you ever enjoyed games like Gears of War or Mass Effect 2/3. Thanks for the response, looking forward to the next upload!
@@dallinjc3 Oh totally, as a game I've been enjoying it a lot too and I'm gonna try to get into lore videos. The universe within seems sooooo interesting and rich. Back in the day, Skyrim was my introduction to Elder Scrolls and I got hooked on lore videos for months lol Next upload should be tomorrow. Been recording in the past couple of hours. It's something of a response to a response to my Veilguard video but that mainly goes into the topic of why 'gaming discourse' has become more toxic, because of our "voices" being constantly muted or shut down. And worse, losing more and more of our "control" over the quality of games. And how "voting with our wallet" is being compromised because of ESG grants and boons from companies like BlackRock to any studios and publishers who deliberately pump propaganda into their games. Gonna be a bit more chilled out, especially since it's 3 AM and I can't really speak that audibly lol besides, I don't want to come off angry at the guy who made the response, he wasn't rude or anything. But it provided a good opportunity to talk at least a little bit about this concept, and to the nature of harsh criticism, and how NECESSARY it is nowadays.
@@TheDezembro oh dude, that point you made about voting with our wallets essentially becoming ineffective due to ESG/DEI investing is huge, and I'm constantly surprised at how few people actually address it in their videos aside from outspokenly right leaning UA-camrs and creators (like yellow flash, Endymion etc), I think it's important that channels like yours can cover that issue since it shows that's not exclusively a right or left viewpoint and makes it so that insane woke people don't have an excuse to scream "see it's just alt right conspiracy theorists etc etc" I don't know your political leanings either way and it's not something I would judge your content by, and that is exactly why I think your channel is the type that needs more exposure because you provide a truly balanced perspective and that kills the narrative that "everyone who dislikes woke = alt right conspiracy porn brain etc etc"
6:10 bruh inquisition made me lose interest in any dragon age game beyond dragon age 2 - inquisition is the fallout 4 and Elder's Scrolls Skyrim where things are sanitised and mainstreamed for a wider audience.
This makes sense. One of the more vocal Sweet Baby employees said that one of their goals was to "kill the gaming industry". So, they are doing their job correctly in that sense.
A big part of DA2's design decisions were the result of EA forcing Bioware to make the game with a short deadline and make it for consoles specifically
Gross misrepresentation of Inquisition as closer to the root of Origins. Anything involving Iron Bull or Sera, basically tanks the entire seriousness, for no adept reason whatsoever, more akin to a Marvel movie at that time. The tonal atmosphere is on the whole much more lighthearted, than Dragon Age 2; DA2 very much had lighthearted moments, but its problems were that of tonal whiplash, where it wanted to be a fun and D&D esque adventure while also portraying sexual assault, racial slavery and matricide, and were on the whole more matter of fact with its in-universe politics. Inquisition doesn't come close to reflecting the atmosphere of either and was a departure from both. The naked Iron Bull random encounter at the Inquisition Keep being a big fat smelly steamy display of what Inquisition is going for. The gaslighting on Inquisition is insane.

The Blight was trying to save us all along

The Archdemon was a hero. We just didn’t understand it
Funny but it has place to be, what if Darkseid and Blight were a "Truth and Savior" all along, and it's we with our corrupt minds can't see a real way it is, brainwashed by corporate shills we can't even see real light that is not a white or yellow.

Same, why the hell would you play a fantasy game as yourself? The whole point of an RPG is to not be yourself, you play a role that isn't you.
@dantepizza6310 malignant narcissism is why.
I want to roleplay as a completely different person from myself in the roleplay game; they want to inject themselves and their ludicrous ideology into a fantasy setting where those ideologies don't even exist.
idk about you but if I can't make my player character a hot man the game is an instant skip
Made 18 characters in Baldurs gate 3 not one of them resembles me.
But according to these devs I'm a racist & a homophobe lol
Now you got me reminiscing of banging Josephine on her desk next to the war-table 😂
I wouldn't want to take any of these new characters anywhere. Not even to a funeral. Let alone onto a desk. 💀
She was second for me, I just Liked Cassandra’s Dynamic But Josie was great .
The devs who are creating vanguards are not.
The one who credited the last three
😆
Wrong game! Go for bg3, so many ways to kill everyone it's insane
I seriously will kill All my companions if I can be a blood mage again… so op & the darkness I want in video games like BG3 I killed a few party members for power lol
Probably the reason you can't kill the companions is Taash. How many people would save Taash over even Loghain or post-terrorism Anders?

David Gaider on leaving bioware. He said that writing went from being valued to being “quietly resented” at BioWare, and indicated that the lack of support for writing at the studio in those later years contributed to his departure. Which is from an article talking about when he left. Kinda weird he's doing all this now.
He's salty because DA is his baby and these people have destroyed it, but lashing out against the studio would blacklist him towards any other employers, so instead he's attacking the fans who also see the crap they've made of the franchise and call it out (mostly disrespectfully too)

Then the devs attack the fans for not being excited for the game.

So many inquisition fans were invested in the Solas x Lavellan story potential and tragedy. And my heart goes out to them as it burns to the ground
Mass Effect 3 ending was okay
i just hope that this is the last time this trash company keeps smearing bioware's name with these crap games. its a shame that now Bioware will be known for three terrible failures back to back as much as for the great games they made in the past.

I am still baffled at how ONE good game is STILL getting shit sequels in 2024!
It's not this NA: GiggidyGuard so what is it 🤔 - Dragon Age Fan since first week of Dragon Origins release - ✅
I mean, look at this exchange from a cut scene:
Rook: Solas warned me about them being evil [...] He said they were horrific tyrants.
Harding: Tyrants so powerful elven history remembers them as gods.
Neve: So instead of one … god … running around, we have two. And they’re not just powerful, they’re blighted.
_Tyrants, tyrants, powerful, gods, god, powerful_
_evil, horrific_
_not one, [but] two_
_powerful, blighted_
It's repetitive af!
@docmacabre 100% the characters look like they're from a different game to world, they look cartoony whereas the world looks more realistic

I'm proud to be a chud!
Ladies and gentlemen, get yourselves ready for the next major disaster.
After Starfield, hate content about DA Veilguard will be my favorite for a while, I can feel it. Cant wait
Am I the only one that loved the Hinterlands and exploring every inch of a map? O.o
You have to choose, consumer money or corpos overlords investiment (the strongest ones in history) but choose wisely
Origins was just superior, all the other ones compared were trash and that is such a shame, the lore is so good 😢.
Origins had technical issues some of have been fixed by modder made patches. The story, voice acting and characters was top notch.
The real world ethnic representation in elves and dwarves was present in BG3 too but I was called racist for complaining about it because people actually liked that game.
Fuck em. Racism is a completely legitimate reaction to bullshit.
Its because at the end of the day the market just wants good games. The culture wars shit is completely subordinate to this fact
Severely underrated channel, excellent video and perspective. Hope you see the growth soon that you very much deserve.
Fingers crossed!

Twist: something gifts you the game as form of punishment so you must cover it further.

Ok so dont stop making videos, was nice listening to you. You articulate it so well.
Thanks, I appreciate it! That's the plan ✨

Thanks! Glad you liked it!
They excell in it.
very good point.. but its spelled bankrupt. oh man i just "umm akshually" somebody and it feels... meh.. maybe if i drink more..
That Hogwarts Legacy game shown off looks more related to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, than The Veilguard is to the older Dragon Age games.
Wayyy too many red flags attached to this game already. I'm not buying it.
Thank you for a brilliant video. I loved hearing you what you had to say on this and agree fully.
Same old stupid culture war bs. The game has not released yet; so much bs for clicks.
It's not a culture war. We just don't like the LGBTQ terrorist organisation. Their extremist views have no place in video games.
what culture? What's the LGBTQWERTY even about? Take me to your leader, I want to speak.
I feel sorry for you. Ignorance is bliss
Then go play a game.
Because all those trailer, previews, developer interviews and other coverage are completely useless and tell us nothing about the game do they.
How many of these pitiful videos are you going to make? God I can’t wait till this game comes out so yall can stop crying

Origins is the only Dragon Age game. All the others since have been cash grabs trying to trick people by using the Dragon Age name.
People keep saying the linear god of war map is more like origins and all i uave to say to that is no, origins had small open areas you could travel between with numerous missions in each section this game is like doom levels of linear, honestly the people who keep saying its more like origins i can tell never played origins
Is more like DA2 imo.
@xLionsxxSmithyx not even da 2 was more open than this switching between night and day for some missions and moving around in the world. The vielgaurd has everything starting from the lighthouse your hub than you launch the linear missions that's terrible

@@The13thRonin BioWare hasn’t made a good game since mass effect 2 man what are you talking about. I’ll even give them mass effect three. That was a decent game too. But since then they haven’t done anything. You have to hold these companies responsible for their actions. You can’t just hand wave it as a symptom of society. Because as many crappy western AAA games, there’s just as many great games coming out from better Studios. Just look at Ubisoft. @TheDezembro the embargo lift could be a sign of them smelling their own farts in their echo chamber and liking the smell thinking everyone else will especially, as you say it's only gonna be reviews from people who'll praise them anyway. I see politics being injected, blackwashing (holy hell, those elves are UGLY), making things queer/whatever agenda and Bioware attacking fans - I already know what is my decision about this. This game needs to be boycotted. Games don't need politics. They need to have a quality story, mechanics and interesting characters.
Well, those elves sure are ugly, but the thing is, they have nothing on Bethesda's elves, which are nightmare fuel.

This was all pre-launch, though.

I appreciate it 🤠
A few months ago what I would've done is get Dragon Age Origins and play through the old ones instead, but as a growing yet starving channel I can't ignore the fact that my videos on Veilguard did far better than anything else (except for the one on Act Man, of course)
So I might end up keeping an eye on a local used store and grab it as fast as possible (or use EA Play) to force myself through that mess and make my own review calling out all of these bullsh*t glowing reviews giving 9's and 10's.
Next upload should be tomorrow.

*I WANT BLOOD MAGICK BACK🤦🏾♂️😒😑😤🤬*
Gross misrepresentation of Inquisition as closer to the root of Origins.
