      Chris there are things that you need to change; First please forget about your phone when you're talking to somebody it's very disrespectful. Seriously that pisses me off and i'm watching a video so if was there i might have punched you in the face. Thanks

    Chris is awesome. I've been watching for a while and he's really gotten me to break some old mindsets about myself and how I perceive myself. I've connected a lot of dots, and have even sold our first job that wasn't for dog bones this time, and instead at 10% of the value to the client who has stood to make 10's of millions and mitigate a ton of risk. I'm talking like... x30/x40 jump in billings all because of my own perception of worth. Now I'm doing my best work and I don't hate what I do anymore. My passion is back, and we are resourced to be able to tie that into purpose, and that is POWERFUL. Thank you Chris!

      Thanks! I wrote my first "strategy brief" back in 2008/7 era after my thinking got mangled by Andy Rutledge and the UX guys at ClearLeft (Also an Andy Budd). It was when I moved away from asking client's very subjective goals revolving around aesthetics to quantifiable business goals - so this type of thinking isn't all too new to me- BUT what IS new are all of the blanks you've helped fill in about value and embracing and pivoting and being a fiduciary. All of that information really next-leveled my game and has equipped me to really help my clients and not give all of my strategy and discovery away for free, I'm actually charging for it because it has value. (People are paying me to think and talk). I even feel it filled in some understanding gaps with my own spiritual path/faith about lessons of value and lessons of faith and where that confidence comes from so thank you for that! #tenpercent ;)

    Really enjoyed this interview, can't wait for part 2+. Love the bit about "maybe" being the worst case from yes/no/maybe from a potential client because it's so true. I've been trying to follow up for months now with a couple clients that have been stringing us along with a "maybe" and it's just exhausting. I really just want a "yes" or "no" from them so we can just move on. A lot of what he said can be applied to any size business, big or small. I'm thinking about what he says in regards to my client's businesses in addition to my own. Great stuff.

    • @keirmc1974
      @keirmc1974 9 років тому +1

      +Alex Bass Thank you for the kind words. We all waste a lot of time on “maybe” because we so desperately want and need the work. But if in that moment we can consider how we could better spend our time on real prospects, it is easier, note I didn’t say easy, to walk away from a “maybe."

    • @Flip4Bytes
      @Flip4Bytes 9 років тому

      Good point. What is normally the best way to handle those types of scenarios though? I mean I assume it probably depends on a case-by-case scenario. The way I see it is I could just throw them into our "Dormant Follow-Up" pipeline in our CRM and just reach out to them once every month or two to see if things change? or is that too passive of a route to take? With some of these potential clients, they have our quote and were looking to move forward. Even went out and had a few sales breakfast meetings meetings with them. Everything looks like it was good to go and then they vanish. Just frustrating because there were no signs of pullback. Seems almost like they may have just gotten busy with work and there is really just no good time to take a break and start up a project for your business, especially during a company's busy season.

    • @keirmc1974
      @keirmc1974 9 років тому +2

      +Alex Bass I prefer the direct approach but of course, each case is different. Before I buy lunch or spend a lot of time i need to know these things from the client: when does the job start. how many other people are you talking to, what is the budget and when is the delivery date. Their openness or lack thereof tells me a lot about my chances of getting the job. they have a right to say little or nothing. i have the right to walk away. too many times we treat each job like its the only job were ever going to get. I believe that the next opportunity is right around the corner. That gives me the freedom to walk away if necessary and also gives me power in the meeting with the client. The very fact that I don’t feel needy is somehow conveyed to the client and gives me a certain power in the discussion.

    • @Flip4Bytes
      @Flip4Bytes 9 років тому +2

      +keirmc1974 Good point. I guess when you don't have a lot of client work going on it's much easier to be susceptible to wasting time on *maybe* clients. Definitely need to try and take on a similar attitude, like you said, we are doing business, we aren't here to waste eachother's time and be friends. Having a good business relationship may lead to a friendship like with you and Chris Do, but business comes first. Really appreciate the response. Really enjoyed Pt. 2 of the AMA as well. Hope to see you on this channel again in the future!

    Awesome...awesome interview....! He was spot on on everything he spoke about. I work everyday to be a better listener. I teach my kids to do the same. It's very true that most people don't listen well. It's also true that asking questions does show your expertise better than saying it. Another great episode...!

    • @keirmc1974
      @keirmc1974 9 років тому +2

      +Stephen Lee Thank you for your comment. My hope is that some of the things I’ve learned will not only help you in your business life but also in your life outside of business. I’m not sure I mentioned it in the video but ultimately it is your life away from work that is the most important. Work is only a means to an end. Not an end in and of itself. When the rent is due and payroll needs to be made, it is easy to lose sight of that.
      Peace.

      I’ve got my troubles before and glad I`ve covered it with this new program and now making more than $133 daily. A few other sites didn`t work to help me get a lot of achievements inspite of the fact that getting their survey jobs can assure huge earnings. This is the only site that helped me yield great results. To explore more about *4 N e t J o b s . C o m* , visit it. You`ll surely like this.?

    Business ppl are very coldblooded thats why they earn money that other ppl not have i mean why business ppl let produce thing in countrys like china? Bcs it brings them the most money,they dont care about ppl same with us consumers we dont care where this shirt come from we only will it cheap as possible .But why we need everything so cheap?Bcs we have not the money for buying a 100 $ shirt .Why we have no money for it?Bcs business ppl have that money ! What a beautiful system i looooooove it .We are not different then the early humans 10.000 bc it allways is the same .Slaves work for surviving,rich ppl are bored from all that money they enjoi the attention the play a game who is better who own more money who gets more % profit who makes the best deal etc. We work hard for there game that they play and we get punished for every lil wrong step we made .When a rich person made a wrong step they can learn and do it better next time like in a video game .When i made a wrong step i get fired and im in huge truble bcs i cant pay my bills .Is it fair?Is it good?Is it 2019? Or is it 10.000 bc ,modern slaving, and a survival fight?
