The big thing for me is the style choices. MTG has easy to read and understand mana costs and card text, the level on YuGiOh cards is just a ton of circles which could easily just be a number, and the card art is so large the text box at the bottom is tiny, not to mention the out of proportion unreasonably high numbers for everything. an attack of 3000 and 2500 could just be 30 and 25.
A lot of this originates from the original anime, since it was a manga first. The large numbers were made in contrast to othe card games of the time, as they wanted to make them ‘cooler’ by having larger values
Well that's not completely true if you want easy to read card texts and smaller attack numbers just stick to the cards printed in the early days, Take skull servant for example 300 defence and 200 attack with flavour text stating "a skeletal ghost that isn't strong but can mean trouble in large numbers" Or a simple spell like monster reborn, with the simple line of text, "target 1 monster in either players gy; special summon it" The difficulty of yu gi oh will always scale with how you play and how far you are willing to go.
@@e-e4761 but the complexity of card effects in yugioh is the reason to love the game, it's so fast paced that small decisions matter a lot because the ressources snowball so quickly, simple effects like monster reborn or a monster like skull servant just don't fit in there

what about dark ruler no more, forbidden droplet, skill drain. dark ruler to raigeki or forbidden to lighting storm there are ways to delete boards and pretty easy ways yes you can play the turn on your game sounds like you came straight out of master duel where the game is very un polished due to its ban list

Duel Links just to understand the easiest mechanics of the game (because it’s a gatcha) and Master Duel to play normal duels with the link mechanic, not available in Duel Links. Making a deck in Master Duel costs less than nothing.
If you want to play IRL don’t go to locals when you start because sometimes well experienced players are pretty toxic towards new players.
Try to discover Yugioh with a friend and with structure decks.
@@paolol122 I’m glad I can play online since I don’t have the time to do it irl, especially with Covid
@@xXMordSchlagXx try masterduel, its the most closet thing of real tcg, also have the timming of effect and chain so damm good u can learn the rules for chains easly,
I play Yu-Gi-Oh! And I was prepared to flame the shit outa this man but I left laughing.
+1
I'm curious tho, only if you think yu gi oh is better and not on par.
@@gunnellaganni think they are on par too. But ygo would beat magic for me if they had formats. Magic is sweet cuz you get to pick how you want to play for the most part via formats. That’s nice. But the reprints for key cards is so random and arse at times lol. Ygo you wait 1-2 yards boom staples at 80% off for the most part.
I play Yugioh and I was prepared to agree with him all the way
Reason why Yu-Gi-Oh! is better than Magic the Gathering
1 - The cards are much more kissable, all MtG cards are old men and girls.
2 - YGO players are in their 30s, like me and are all men. Like me.
3 - When I look at a YGO card you can hear me say "dayum, they probably packin" this is a reference to me being gay.
remember when exodia was rated hottest man on earth?
@@sablesalt Just marginally beating out Kaiba
@@jamespeake2606 just a popularity thing that made it happen, like when brad pit beat out danny devito previously, some people are just uncultured and don't know what good looks are
@@sablesalt Exactly! How can any in good conscience say otherwise?
Don't let these fools distract you from the fact that in 1998, the Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.

Well that's not completely true if you want easy to read card texts and smaller attack numbers just stick to the cards printed in the early days,
Take skull servant for example
300 defence and 200 attack with flavour text stating "a skeletal ghost that isn't strong but can mean trouble in large numbers"
Or a simple spell like monster reborn, with the simple line of text, "target 1 monster in either players gy; special summon it"
The difficulty of yu gi oh will always scale with how you play and how far you are willing to go.
@@e-e4761 but the complexity of card effects in yugioh is the reason to love the game, it's so fast paced that small decisions matter a lot because the ressources snowball so quickly, simple effects like monster reborn or a monster like skull servant just don't fit in there
Also yu-gi-oh is weeb as f
My man is literally afraid of numbers
never seen ulti or secret rare ygo cards before, spellbook of judgment one of prettiest cards ftw
As a player of Yugioh I hate Yugioh. Though I also play Jank
how jank u go
Dollhouse Raptilianne is my current meme
tbh every yugioh player hates yugioh lmao
Reason number 5, Yu-Gi-Oh sounds stupid, while Magic The Gathering sounds cool
Except the official name in universe is actually either magic & wizard or duel monsters
C’mon man, yugioh is a fun single player game!
for real, mystic mine is such a fun single player deck
@@CopiumCopi exactly my point lol
For number 2. Of all the card art he could have used. Burning abyss, eldlich, thitterally any actual archetype.
gin gitaxis isn't an architype either
Hey don’t talk shit about mystic tomato his card art is amazing
Magic sucks man i love playing a card game where all we do is "play land pass"
I honestly prefer it over Yugioh as there really isn’t much restriction to special summon in Yugioh at least not in recent years, with magic you get to let you and your opponent play
@@timmcgarry6723 stuffy doll seys other ways lmao
@@konakona8133 still can’t cast it without having 5 mana in play which is typically expensive, whereas with Yugioh you can practically use almost any card you want no restriction needed
If this is not bait then good look on understanding actual balance, deck building and good game design
You know that's only an archetype of deck?
You chose Mystic Tomato of all monsters to represent all card art from Yu-Gi-Oh
Its a joke
I play Yu-Gi-Oh and this was funny
MTG is also illegal. And doing illegal shit is more fun
My millennium eye sees no flaws in this argument
I quit yugioh and play mtg, when you are playing yugioh and turn one you sit there for 20 to 30 mins while your opponent plays solitaire with themselves while you sit there watch them do a massive combo to end on a board that says YOU CAN'T PLAY THE GAME ON YOUR TURN... there is no interaction other than hand traps.
what about dark ruler no more, forbidden droplet, skill drain. dark ruler to raigeki or forbidden to lighting storm there are ways to delete boards and pretty easy ways yes you can play the turn on your game sounds like you came straight out of master duel where the game is very un polished due to its ban list
@@vclyxy7400 for me Yu-Gi-Oh is just fucking clones wars, dame fucking cards, decks and evento play minds
tell me you dont know hand traps witout tell me you dont know hand traps XD
Reason 9: there isn’t an entire 100 pages of text on MTG cards unlike yugioh
bro I hate it when I think I am done reading a yoyo goat card and it says "turn to page 2 of 7 in the mini manual found in booster pack with card"
There's a Wikipedia article printed in every Yu-Gi-Oh card
@@sablesaltmmmm yoyo goat (i know it was auto correct)
Im looking for the Yugioh Fanboys so I can troll them
Summoning sickness? More like summoning SUCKness. Yu-Gi-Oh! definitely doesn’t have anything like that coughtoons. Yu-Gi-Oh! player out.
Yeaaahhh, go chew some crayons, the rules and mechanics can cause your brains to hurt
Why I am better then you. 1: I don’t you and I know me. 2: you don’t look cool, but I do. 3: I am more popular and have more rizz. Thank you for reading, I am not trying to offend him or anything but he does not give good risins.
Well got me convinced
Reason number 4 readable texts
Actually Yugioh is more popular globally than magic the gathering, but magic is more popular in America.
Honestly I think that they are pretty comparable
Yugioh is lost forever..... can the game ever be salvaged to what it once used to be?
no way to bring back old format, plus is not lost, fact on 2023 maybe yugi is in the more balance era of yugi history, i can remember if u dont have a deck of 1200 buck u can do a shit and now with a deck with just 200 to 400 bucks its a meta deck, and magic still more expensive i sell 8 carfs from magic for 750 buck and buy a meta deck of yugi and pay some bills, but if u wanna play old format on nearly all events are GOAT yugi 1999 to 2005 card list and rules and eddison 2011 card and rules, or you can play speeddules with friends
Just got into magic recently, have been into yugioh for a few years now, I love both dearly they're both fantastic, just very different from one another! Also my friend said he got into it partially becauee of the artwork, and I kinda get it now, especially the fact that dope as hell alt arts are such a common occurence whereas yugioh doesn't even have full art cards, but I still like yugioh art more, it gets so gorgeous!
Actually, yugioh cadr art is much more unique and better than magic art
One that’s an opinion and on terms of being unique magic wins. And mtg had had multiple famous artists to do card art. 2 this video is obviously a joke
Facts
Bro really pulled out the mystic tomato
The newer rules of yugioh suck now compared to 2001
Reason number: 69 Mtg has round corners
Counter point:
Yugioh dont make videos like this:
Most ive found would be old players returning wondering wtf a pendulum is
@@gabrielnguyen5580 you forgot link
i stopped when they got to synchro summons - loved 5ds but was like yeah that and xyz was killing me
I wont subcrice because I like yu-gi-oh
Yu-gi-oh is better
I
Chill he’s joking
As someone who used to do nothing but play Yu-Gi-Oh and talk shit about mtg I can definitely say mtg is way better even tho I Played Yu-Gi-Oh for like 7 years and have only played magic for like 2
i play both, both are good but i like more yugi XD, just taste option, but funny things on mtg still the otk but the deck its dam expensive for example 8 card of my afinity per aftifact otk like 520 buck, mox opal and solring
Magic doesn’t teach you about the human psyche outside card art and text like yugioh.
Reason number 10: MTG has no Ash Blossom
I used to be obsessed with yu gi oh, but when someone introduced me with MTG I realized it's way fun than yu gi oh. To me it has gotten too complicated
My man really pull a old yugioh card art and said it bad, he probably doesn’t know about the modern art
He’s trolling my man
