The light cable in my cabinet finally shit the bed this week after four years. Replacement is next to impossible through IKEA, so it looks like I'll be attempting a DIY fix.

MirlaIvette Not really, it is the same as connecting a light fixture. Only three wires. If you don't know how to connect a light to cables hanging out the ceiling, then you would need a handyman or electrician.
this mirror from a different seller would have been $1800us or more. go to a led electrical wholesaler and find yourself a $140us transformer ballast. since your not the smartest cookie, have a license electrician install it. as to the stiff wire, its fine!!! take a ativan buddy your surely need it!!

I totally agree with you. What is wrong these days ? Almost everything is Made in China. I mean we pay good money for the stuff and we get crap from China. In this case we talk about 259 €/$. It should have high quality and last for 10 years.

Mine too, the cable only lasted 10 months though. I am waiting to hear back from IKEA.

Wall mounting for cabinet seems too flimsy to support its weight, particularly if wall is plaster or drywall. Any suggestions?

There are quality products made in china, this is just cheap... iPhones are made in China.
