IKR, she always outhits screamapova and makes more winners but then makes too many errors that she often loses
Maria’s footwork is really bad in this match.
Maria's general tennis was pretty bad the entire 2014. Enough to still beat most of the players on tour but it was the beginning of her decline as a player IMO
Are you forgetting that clay season? Stuttgart, Madrid, FO. She also won Beijing. Not a bad season. Played shitty at the wta finals. IMO shes been hit or miss last few years but didn’t actually decline til after AO 19. After that she always looked out of touch
@@jameshampton5659 like I said in my comment she was still able to beat most players on tour but her level was not good. I remember all of those tournaments well and how she had to make numerous comebacks because her tennis was patchy and inconsistent. In my opinion Sven Groeneveld was not a good coach and damaged her game. That coupled with the fact she was declining as a player with more injuries etc, meant her tennis was generally going down hill. There is simply no comparison to her tennis level 2014 onwards to how it was in 2012, 2013.
J I don’t agree with that at all. She’s a big ball striker and base line attacker those game styles can always get patchy here or there because they are aggressive. I definitely don’t think she was on decline this early. Even when she came back in 2017 she looked good I think the end of 2018 when her forearm was injured and she was losing confidence was when her game started to decline. To me she just had lazy footwork in this particular match which isn’t normal of Maria.
@@AFCompany Her consistency dropped from 2014 onwards. 2012-2013 she was extremely consistent and then in 2014 pretty much every match was a hot mess and Maria basically relied on her competitiveness and mental toughness to get through many of her matches. I remember 2014 very well and it was stressful to be a Maria fan lol.
Of course her aggressive game style inevitably means up and down levels of play but I honestly don't know how someone can look at Maria's matches from 2014 (full matches, not Highlights where only winners are shown) and not conclude that her game had started to go down hill. Don't get me wrong, I'll say again, her game was still good enough to beat most of the tour but I don't understand how someone can't see the obvious decline from her mid 2011-2013 form.

By enforcing the rules? I can't believe some Serena fans are still trying to blame him for her losing to Osaka that night. Serena was well on her way to losing that match. Believe me, if she was up a set and a break when Carlos gave her a violation (correctly) she wouldn't have had the tantrum she had.
U r right, he is always accusing players’ coaches giving signals to the players. Besides Serena, he has done Rafa, venus, and also Sabine dirty in this match.
