The most accurate, comprehensive and clearly defined analysis of the sprint kayaking stroke I have ever come across. To find it shared, free on UA-cam, speaks volumes about Alex Nikonorov's contributions to the sport.

non-Westerners are temperamentally unsympathetic to the idea of 'proprietary' science and research etc. Enjoy.

Amazing Video! Showing the Biophysics for efficient Kayak Propulsion. This video is aimed for the pros that train for high level competitions. It is great for me as I come from the competitive single rowing world and after many many years switching to kayaking! Just bought my Kayak! This video for sure I will watch it several times as I see progress

Mr NIkoronov, all clear and happy to enjoy such high quality of explanation about our loved sport. Would be the functional explanation of sprint kayaking technique. Congratulations.

What's fascinating here is this typically Russian emphasis on 'internal method' as opposed to external structural or mechanical correction, adjustment etc... Method acting was created by Stanislavsky and Chekhov as a way of acting 'from inside'... Nikoronov is applying the same concept to kayaking by asking us to 'manipulate the athlete's perception' instead of 'operating on the level of the visual image'.

I can get the idea of this if I stop the video and think(think hard !) on what has just been said. I only paddle for fun but have been trying to improve my paddling. One of the things I have been doing is trying not to push with the higher hand and rotate my body to move the paddle and this video is the complete opposite, as from what I can see it's saying the lower hand is the fulcrum(pivot) and the higher hand is the lever which I suppose pushes otherwise it wouldn't be a lever. I've just been looking at Oscar Chalupsky's paddling technique videos and practicing them .

what moronic comment, if u cant understand the words use a god damn vocabulary, since when lever has to be pushed? top hand is stationary while twisting with core, once the pivot is finished , you get it ready to spear the water , at high speeds it only looks like you are pushing top hand when in reality it stays stationary . its not hard to understand if you just listen to what is actually said...

Pulling arm? It should be the shoulder, back, hips and legs. You really shouldn't be pulling with your arms.

Lol you're complaining about an incredibly complicated but very well put together video, because you're too lazy or too incapable of being able to understand what's being taught. Move on pleb

Using 200m paddlers to showcase technique? Seriously?

Actually the best way to show you that the foundations of technique is also primal in the distance where our common sense would advise *go fast, no matter how", Don´t you think 100 mts runnesr doesn´t care thir form?
