I’m the eldest of 6 children and I use to get a small toy every time my mother gave birth. I had Darth Vader for one of them. I never felt left out. I was excited and use to help my mother bottle feed and enjoyed holding the baby on the sofa.
When I had my second child we got a gift for my first child from my second child and vice versa..i.e let older child pick an outfit or teddy for baby and baby gives a teddy or a book to older sibling . We also let my first child help out as much as she could with the new baby! So she didn't feel pushed out or anything! X
I think having some positive talks about being an older brother would be really helpful for your lil one as toddlers are highly accepting of babies/siblings. It could get him excited for sharing his toys & days together. Wishing you a healthy & happy pregnancy ❤❤
When my sil had a baby girl 2 years after her son...she did this thing were on the day of her birth she gave her son a "big brother" present from the baby...& my nephew actually thought it was from the baby & ran to give her a hug, it was cute ☺️ I think it helped him love her from the start lolll
My eldest son had a bike off his baby brother when he was born. It was so funny, I told him his baby brother brought it for him. He knew his baby brother grew in my tummy. So he lifted my jumper to check I didn’t have anything else for him. 😂 He thought I’d kept the bike in my tummy with the baby. 👶🏻 🚲 A picnic 🧺 is a lovely family thing to do. ❤
The only tip I have for you and Orin, with Orin being the same age my eldest was when I had my second baby, is to think about nursery if that's something you plan on doing. When Tyler (eldest) turned 3 he was able to start a little nursery and do afternoons there but it landed the same time as me having second baby so he was overwhelmed with the new home routine and going to nursery too. I wish I started him before so he was already into that and settled. ❤ I do think nursery was a nice break for him though during the day for 3 hours to learn and play while me and baby had that little bit of quiet time xxx
Just take each day as it comes, the book seems a really great idea, by introducing Orin to the new norm, i found with my two was to get him involved too nearer the time, i am sure he will be fine, i can see him being a great brother either way. hope the pregnancy goes well. xxx
I used a mix of mayo for sour cream in my potato salad and it tasted like the shops ❤ I know u love using sour cream so it’s a great way of using it up xx
The potato salad is like a German one I used to make it a lot in Germany except it’s chopped boiled egg instead of cheese . You are so lucky that orin eats everything my little grandson is the same age and it’s hard getting him to eat anything .
He definitely has his fussy phases where he won’t even try anything other than what he knows and likes, but generally if he sees us eating it he will usually have a go! Xx
The sickness is the worst. I'm 17 weeks pregnant with my first and so excited, but I've also been sick 5-10 times day for 10 weeks now and it's exhausting.
Hi, you are all such a lovely family and will only enhance it and make it perfect. Wishing you all the best and hope you have a stressless and happy pregnancy. Please take care and stay safe.
It was difficult for me. My boy wanted to pounce on his sister at any given opportunity, throw toys at her, and hated her. High security measures were in place, until she was just over one and battered him, like she knew all along. Lol. It's actually funny now but I'm sure Orin will be very gentle with the baby. ❤❤

My sister did this too. Worked a treat with her eldest. Two girls grew up best buddies as well as siblings. ❤

'Grab the bull by the horns' I think it means take control... Dunno? 😁🇦🇺
Congratulations!!
I have to ask, was the house making you feel ill? Fascinating if so!!
My house made me feel very very unwell, everything about it, the smell, the colours, everything! Xx
Wow 😯 the very place you couldn’t escape!!
For me it was the fish counters in supermarkets, which were easy to avoid.
