does anyone else remember (prior to the formal announcement of starfucker) cathy tweeted, like months ago, something along the lines of "album title starts with a v" but deleted it, and then this track leaked and i figured this was the title track for a while. i wonder what changed. granted, now hearing OOT and MB, this song doesn't really fit the dark, synth-y old hollywood themes as much. still very happy with the direction she ended up going with but the """lore""" is just fascinating. also, 'surrender your heart in club valentine' in MB...? might not be so random but idk

I just wish she named the new album “Starlet” it would’ve fit the whole old Hollywood theme much better and is an easier album name to digest/sell since she’s still so underground at the moment
interesting, i agree to an extent bc the unnecessary vulgarity doesn't do her any favors. def has never bothered me but it can be off putting for a lot of new (boring) listeners. almost solidifies her as an artist that may only ever have a smaller cult following as opposed to the potential for mainstream success, but that is so unpredictable these days its hard to say. and now, with hearing the full record mixed and mastered, she really pulled some The Fame gaga level pop excellence that could easily reach a lot of different listeners. but who knows what could have been if she took a more 'safe' approach, buuuuut it wouldn't really be as authentic if she sold out (to me at least, i mean i don't think any of us started listening to cathy bc she was a catholic saint lol). love her to death regardless, waiting on my tits-out vinyl variant in the mail ;-) it's my aoty so far@@dragtalk
Totes agree with the entirety of this statement. Those three are honestly my top three artists and every time any one of them are deterred from creating or releasing anything, it really just hurts everyone.
