    I think you’ll be okay with the outlet, if you feel a little zap while using it bring the humidity down about 10 degrees and that should be your safe humidity level. 😅😅
    I always loose anthurium and I love them! I’ll be watching to see how this works it may be my answer! Thanks for walking us through this.

    Don't be hard on yourself, live, and learn. The plant community is great when we can give our personal experiences as a tip or heads-up. I had another plant friend save some of my plants from quick death when I put them in my greenhouse during a heatwave direct from my air-conditioned house. 😅 You're a great guy, Jeff! Keep doing what you do!

    Hi Jeff: great video, love your honesty; I have 2 Rudsta, one for Aroid and one for Hoya. I remove my Mother light (my plants did not love it -sorry I know you are sponsored) and replaced them with 4 Barrina grow light (my aroid cabinet has no glass shelving), one Barrina on each shelving level in my Hoya cabinet. Consider having a power timer for your grow light. I weather proof it as I built the Rudsta, each section has a strip, no gaps. Suggestion: You can raise your plants by adding an upside down pot so they are closer to the light source. Every inch is a "real estate". During winter, I add a heating mat at the bottom on a timer, too. Your plants will love your cabinet. Please replace your outlet if you can, don't risk it. Happy planting. Cheers!!!

      I have no ties to any company but do get some kick back (which is nice) but if the light doesn't work out then I will absolutely be changing them out for something that does work. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!!!

    Good luck with your new cabinet Jeff. I have a smaller cabinet and I just leave the fan on for a few hours in the morning for my small starter Hoya’s 😊

  • @JoannaLouise200

    Loving the black background of the cabinet ~ it really showcases the gorgeous variations/varieties of green and the dramatic leaf vein patterns. It reminds me of the visual impact of Auricula 'theatres' of Victorian times. If it were mine, I would probably have just one internal full-width glass shelf, just to increase storage capacity. One in your cabinet, just at the lower support bracket level may also help prevent any water droplets compromising your electrical inlet.

  • @carolstuff

    Hey Jeff, you may not even need the fan if you don’t use the weather-strip for the door; it’s getting good airflow through the frames. Good job on your cabinet; it will take time before you get everything perfect. Thanks for sharing.

    I would consider using a GFCI outlet. I think it would detect a ground fault and trip if you spilled some water or had a lot of condensate accumulate.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  Рік тому

      You can not get one in these round grommet style. I will have to see if there is a GFI power bar or extension cord......

    If you ever decide to get stronger lights, you can always put something in front of the light to defuse it a bit so it's not as harsh. The Sidney Plant Guy has a video on his channel about it too if you would ever need it for reference. Good luck! It looks GREAT!🪴💚🪴

    I used black electrical tape to cover the gaps on the sides and top. You can't even see it even though it's on the outside. It was very easy and very inexpensive. I tried the weather stripping but it never stayed. I probably didn't install it properly. I did use a clear weather stripping flap thingy (lol) for the door gap.

    I love the heart on your Forgetii leaf!!!!❤. Since it's designated for Anthurium, you can get an Anthurium leaf handle 😁. Me being me, always thinking about how I am going to keep something clean and like new, would be putting those little clear scratch prevention sticky dots on the bottom of terracotta saucers. 😜. I didn't think to be concerned about the outlet since it was so cool. You could always put a fan blowing on it, if it becomes a concern.🥰😍💓

    Your setup looks good tbh (though last video I too was a bit worried about the humidity/electric socket situation 😂) the only thing I would maybe consider is preventative beneficial mite sachets as cabinets can spread pests rapidly. I like your magnetic shelves as I've seen the peg boards some people use for the back have gone mouldy and the magnetic metal ones would eliminate that, they look sleek against the cabinet too

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much. I have found a GFCI extension cord which would cut power if ever an issue. All these greenhouse builds should have them honestly.
      I have used beneficial mites in the past and I'd like to think they did something haha

      In the video I mentioned that I didn't want to drill into the back panel because the outlet itself has a fairly bulky bottom end. It would be protruding about 2 to 3 inches into the back of my couch lol

    you cant be more wrong about the light intensity measures, your FC levels are a joke you need atleast 1000 FC for those plants to get fast growth if you don't believe me check the production guides at nurseries for those plants, they even grow syngonium plants on 2300 FC light

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  Рік тому +1

      Nurseries and greenhouses are different because they have natural light and usually use a shade cloth.
