Only reason I wouldn’t jump at having this shower would be the trying to clean in between the cracks but honestly it’s almost even worth it 👏🏼👏🏼🔥 amazing work
Thank you!! It’s actually not that bad. We have a battery powered brush that we use to clean it.The brush head spins and the handle is a 20” wand. So it actually makes cleaning pretty easy.

I love unconventional home designs and this definitely fits the bill, great job!
@TheHiddenHomestead that would be great! I'm also very curious how you clean it with so many little grooves. I'm sure you can't take a brush to it or else it would scratch.
@@Steven-e7c no we actually do use an electric oscillating soft bristle brush with 50/50 water/vinegar spray. Every once in awhile we’ll need to use something a little stronger to get rid of the really stubborn soap scum.

It’s really not bad. Theres cracks and crevices but it’s not porous. The paint I use is a high acrylic exterior paint that has “mold/mildew prohibitors”. Which I think has helped. Then every other day or so it gets sprayed down with 50/50 water vinegar mixture. And once every other week we do a quick scrub down with the water/vinegar and a soft bristle brush.

Well that topped everything else....I've officially seen it all. That was honestly truly absolutely amazing. I'd love to know how many hrs you have in that project. Damn truly awesome!
Hey thank you! From demo to clean up I probably have about 75-80 hours. That was of course by myself and a lot of it was spent going up and down the steps. 😮💨
The best shower ive ever seen....looks like a million bucks....im sure it wasnt overly expensive either:) How much did it cost all up to complete the shower?
Thank you! I hope so too! When are you doing it? I have a full online course for vertical concrete coming out soon. If you need anymore information that is. Right now I have my mix design and explanation on Patreon.
Thank you very much! I don’t have a direct link for any more information on it really but I do have an online course for vertical concrete if you’re interested in that. As far as waterproofing it was no different than doing a tile shower. As in I preformed all of the the same steps and practices as you would if you were to install a tile shower.
It’s held up pretty good. Cleaning has been rather easy and straightforward. Considering of course. About twice a week we spray it all down with 50/50 water/vinegar. Then every other week we spray and scrub it down with a soft bristle brush. It’s pretty clean as far as mold mildew and grime. However there is a soap residue (not scum) that we’re having a hard time with. It might just be from the specific soap we use. Dr Bronner’s. I’ve been hesitant on what cleaners to use because I don’t want to mess up the finish. But I think I’m going to start testing a few different ones and recolor if need be.
Not the style I'd have chose but gotta admire the craftsmanship & the profound weirdness. Does the sealer do a good job keeping moisture out of the slabs?
Sir you are an inspiration. What you have created out of cement is mind blowing. I am building my shower. I’ve tirelessly been searching for videos on how to stamp my cement floors. I would sure appreciate any advice.
It’s a special mortar that I make specifically for vertical applications. There’s a lot of pre-bagged mixes out there to choose from but this one is definitely more economical. I am in the process of making a full online course that goes over all of it. For now though, if you’re interested I have a link to the ingredients, and the how/why of the mix pinned to the top of the comments section. Admittedly, it’s on my Patreon channel so it does require payment for access to get all the information.
Two questions... 1) What did you use over the PVC liner and how did you fasten it down to keep it from moving? 2) How did you get your concrete to stick to the foam and not lift off?
After the liner went down I used the same mix design that I used for the rest of the shower, which was my mix I created for vertical concrete. All I did with the liner was staple the very top edge and glued the seams (as recommended by the factory) to keep it all in place. Again, I used my vertical concrete mix design to cover everything. It’s made specifically for vertical surfaces so it’s pretty sticky and will hold to a lot of different surfaces as long as it’s not built out to much. What I mean by that is, the more it’s built out the heavier it will get. Even though it’s a sticky mix, gravity will eventually win.
@@TheHiddenHomestead In the video, it looked like you had put down some cement board or something over the liner. It could just be a visual illusion. It doesn't try to shift/move without something like lathe or cement board to hold it in place?
@@paramax55 oh yes. The cement board was placed on the walls which overlaid the liner. Of course, no screws securing the cement board was installed below the liners edge. The other thing that could have helped secure the liner was the drain itself, but there was no glue or mechanical means to secure the liner in place. Once in place, it will maintain its shape for the most part until you pour the concrete bed on top of it.
Thank you. It takes more to clean then a regular shower but it’s not that bad actually. Every other shower or so we spray it down with 50/50 water vinegar. Then once a week while I’m in the shower I spray it with the water/vinegar and do a quick scrub with a long soft bristle brush.
Like everything, it’s held up pretty good so long as we do our part and keep on top of it. That said, It needs to be kept up more than a typical shower but of course it’s not a typical shower. So, about three to four times a week we just spray it down with a 50/50 solution of vinegar/water after a shower. Then, every other week or so we clean it. We use a powered wand with a soft bristle brush to scrub it down with that same 50/50 solution.
It looks amazing, and full credit for your film set of a shower room. But I am concerned about the upkeep. That looks like it'd be a nightmare to clean... is it?
Thank you! Well, I’ll say that it’s not an average shower so admittedly it does take longer than average to clean. That being said, it’s really not that bad. Two to three times a week we do a quick spray down with a 50/50 water/vinegar mix after we shower. Every other week we use the same mix and scrub it down with a powered/rotating medium bristle brush. We have a few different shaped heads that we can use to get in all the hard to reach areas. Then if needed, once or twice a year we’ll go in and use something a little stronger than the water/vinegar if there’s a lot of soap scum build up. It normally doesn’t get that bad though if we stay on it with the water/vinegar mix.
Super neat!!! How do you guys like it after a couple years? I want to replace our tile shower for the same reasons you mentioned. So how’s concrete holding up with mold and mildew?
Thanks! Concrete’s doing great. Cleaning isn’t all that bad really. Takes a little more then most showers but thats ok considering it definitely is more than most showers.
So called zero barrier showers leak so often...best to use a one piece cultured stone base, custom sized with 2.5 inch stepover. And lifetime warranty against leakage
Well. If nothing else I appreciate all the comments on the one video. Algorithms and all. If you could would you mind telling me what I did wrong on my other videos? Thanks for your help.
I’ve been playing around with that kind of stuff for about 5-6 years. I never took any classes for it but wanted to go to Disney so I could actually see and touch everything. I knew enough about doing it that just being there to see it up close gave me a better idea of how to manipulate the mortar. It’s astonishing of how much concrete is actually there though. Even in the animal kingdom safari ride the “mud” and “dirt” roads are concrete. The roof bolts were a fun little addition. I had a little left over mortar and thought “hmm why not?”. Im glad you enjoyed it and thank you!
How would you scale that down? What I mean is, if I want to be able to do that, I need to practice starting off on the small scale, any recommendations?
There’s no difference in technique or the mix used. You would literally and simply just scale it down. There’s a few different ways you could do that. Use plywood to build some 2x2 or 4x4 sample boards. Prep it the same way that you would if you were installing tile or an exterior wainscoting then start slinging the mortar on. Another way is to roll out some plastic and just make blobs of different shapes on it using the mortar then carve and shape them to mimic stone or wood.
Is it more time consuming to clean then a typical shower? Yes Is it a typical shower? Obviously not. We keep a spray bottle of 1:1 vinegar to water in there and after every two or three showers we give it a quick spray down. Every other week or so while I’m soaking I’ll spray it down and do a quick scrub with a soft long bristle brush. And that’s it. The vinegar helps break down the calcium and soap scum and it kills mold. On top of that the paint used has additives that make it “mold resistant”. The vent is on the ceiling right out side the door. I’m allergic and pretty sensitive to mold and my body can tell when I’m around it. We’ve had no issues.
Hey bud I've been working on my shower forever now and getting down to the painting or staining process. I was just wondering what kind of paint you used.

I have 2 accounts so I logged out and back in just so I can like this twice. I'm an artist so I have the cred to say you are one hell of an artist. I'm buying an ancient house soon and I am going to do this or embarrass myself trying.
Haha that’s awesome and thanks! It certainly helps the channel.
I appreciate the kind words. And I’m sure you can do it. I’d love to see the progress.
Dude, you have some mad skills!
🙏🙏 well thank you very much!!
So it actually makes cleaning pretty easy.
you can always lightly fill the cracks with clear or colored epoxy.
Great job! Looks amazing!
Thank you very much!
Brilliant. Just brilliant!!! Love this
Thank you!
Wow!!… Absolutely beautiful job!!❤
Thank you very much!
Your like an artist wonderful work.
Thank you!!!
I think that design could easily spread throughout the house, I have a ton of questions that I sure wish were answered throughout the video, but great job, please do a follow up after a while to discuss any changes, cleaning, maintenance, etc . I love unconventional home designs and this definitely fits the bill, great job!
Thank you! I was actually thinking about doing a follow up to discuss the pros and cons and how we clean it.
@@TheHiddenHomestead great to know. Thanks for the quick reply.
You da man! The most amazing shower!
Hey thanks!!
You killed it. You definitely got skills 👏
Well thank you!!
Congratulations 👏🏾
Thank you very much for the those kind words! And I appreciate you subscribing. I have some more of that planned. So stay tuned. 😁👍
Dude, this is like a secret cave waterfall. Brilliant.
😄😄 thanks!!
That's beautiful. You have great talent.
Well thank you very much! I’m building an online training course on how to do it.
Wow this is absolutely beautiful
🙏🙏 thank you!!
What's it like cleaning the shower? Lots of pores to hold moisture
How to create a gradient on the floor towards the drain.Personally I would have put silicone on sides of each panel before assembling it,then final silicone application at the joints
You're my kind of artist. I apply the same creative effect on my shelves, bed head, kitten table, and floors ect, ect, only with tick gloss paint, done this for 5 years ,am 73 yrs.
Am inspired to tackle a W/IN SHOWER
That’s a good suggestion. I did silicone around the bottom edge after it was all done.
I’m glad you’re inspired! Walk ins are great.
This is some serious Disney Imagineering right here!❤ it’s like taking a shower at the 7 dwarfs house.
Lol thanks!!
Wow! Beautiful work!
Thank you!!
Absolutely amazing!!!! What an artist!!!!
Thank you!!!
Just a word of advice. You need to start wearing a mask when working with cement projects or you will really regret it later.
Wow that is awesome you are a tru artist.
Thank you very much!!
The best shower ive ever seen....looks like a million bucks....im sure it wasnt overly expensive either:) How much did it cost all up to complete the shower?
Thank you. Material for it wasn’t that expensive. I think it ended up being 700-800 for the whole thing.
That looks Awesome!
Thank you!!
only one word, amazing.
Thank you very much!
The man is a genius.
🙏🙏
Awesome work. Very talented. Both the shower and the video.
Thank you very much!!
Wow.. that’s incredible mate 👏👏👏
😃😃🙏🙏
Amazing. Hope my project turns out half as good.
Thank you! I hope so too! When are you doing it? I have a full online course for vertical concrete coming out soon. If you need anymore information that is. Right now I have my mix design and explanation on Patreon.
I would love to know more. Can you share a direct link? I am curious to know how it is waterproofed?
AMAZING work!
Thank you very much! I don’t have a direct link for any more information on it really but I do have an online course for vertical concrete if you’re interested in that. As far as waterproofing it was no different than doing a tile shower. As in I preformed all of the the same steps and practices as you would if you were to install a tile shower.
How has this held up? How easy is it to clean?
This is simply exquisite !!! Congrats on your masterpiece, sir!!
Thank you very much!
Looks fantastic
Thank you!!
wow im just amazed by this !!!!
Thank you!
Amazing! Very talented for sure!
Thank you!!
Dude that’s awesome!
Thank you !!
A real master piece but it needs more light perhaps a window and skylite and maybe a water feature in the corner of the wall
The window would defeat the purpose of a cave 😆 but really, thank you!
Not the style I'd have chose but gotta admire the craftsmanship & the profound weirdness. Does the sealer do a good job keeping moisture out of the slabs?
As far as I know it does. We haven’t had any issues with it.
Sir you are an inspiration. What you have created out of cement is mind blowing. I am building my shower. I’ve tirelessly been searching for videos on how to stamp my cement floors. I would sure appreciate any advice.
Absolutely! Message me on Facebook or Instagram and we can talk about it. Both links for my pages are in the description of the video.
What's the Concrete you're using for the walls
It’s a special mortar that I make specifically for vertical applications. There’s a lot of pre-bagged mixes out there to choose from but this one is definitely more economical. I am in the process of making a full online course that goes over all of it. For now though, if you’re interested I have a link to the ingredients, and the how/why of the mix pinned to the top of the comments section. Admittedly, it’s on my Patreon channel so it does require payment for access to get all the information.
Did you seal the concrete? If so did you have to wait for a cure period and what did you use? How is the shower performing after 3 years?
I waited for about a week before I sealed it up and it’s still holding up well.
Dude u are so talented
Looks real man the stone and wood u have done
Awesome! Thank you very much!!
Work of art
🙏🙏 thank you!
Absolutely incredible
Thanks!! 👍
Wow. Well done 👏
Thank you!
It’s beautiful. How easy it to keep clean of mildew?
Thank you. It takes more to clean then a regular shower but it’s not that bad actually. Every other shower or so we spray it down with 50/50 water vinegar. Then once a week while I’m in the shower I spray it with the water/vinegar and do a quick scrub with a long soft bristle brush.
Curious as to what kind of Crete you used for the walls and floors
It’s my own mix.
How does it seem to be holding up? Did you get the fiber mesh online or in store?
@@ryanclementz6522 it’s holding up very well. I got it from a local contractor supply store.
So amazing ! I love the mine shaft idea 😍
Thank you!
Absolutely amazing
😁 thank you!
how has this held up with mold and mildew and how hard to clean and keep clean?
It normally doesn’t get that bad though if we stay on it with the water/vinegar mix.
awesome sweat, and tear at the end is it all worth it.
I believe so, yes.
Thank you for the great infos! Where did you get this siphon from, we are trying to find something like that, to use also with a wooden floor. Thanks!
I’m not sure of the siphon you’re referring to. Can you explain or what part of the video was it in?
Super neat!!! How do you guys like it after a couple years? I want to replace our tile shower for the same reasons you mentioned. So how’s concrete holding up with mold and mildew?
Thanks! Concrete’s doing great. Cleaning isn’t all that bad really. Takes a little more then most showers but thats ok considering it definitely is more than most showers.
Is there a reason you make your own mortar mix instead of buying mortar mix
The price difference is pretty substantial
So called zero barrier showers leak so often...best to use a one piece cultured stone base, custom sized with 2.5 inch stepover. And lifetime warranty against leakage
Well. If nothing else I appreciate all the comments on the one video. Algorithms and all. If you could would you mind telling me what I did wrong on my other videos? Thanks for your help.
Wow just beautiful ! I’m so sick of tile bathrooms. I’m doing my own concrete bathroom. Not like urs lol more simple. God bless
😁😁👍
Wow! Just how long did you spend in Disney to pick that up? The roof bolts made it for me.
You bring up an awesome point..
Great vid but can I ask what music was it that you used at 5:43. I loved it.
It’s a song called “poured”. I found it on here.
i agree its great art, but how hard is for cleaning, and where is vantilation syste for moisture and mold ?
Is it more time consuming to clean then a typical shower? Yes
Is it a typical shower? Obviously not.
We keep a spray bottle of 1:1 vinegar to water in there and after every two or three showers we give it a quick spray down. Every other week or so while I’m soaking I’ll spray it down and do a quick scrub with a soft long bristle brush. And that’s it.
The vinegar helps break down the calcium and soap scum and it kills mold. On top of that the paint used has additives that make it “mold resistant”. The vent is on the ceiling right out side the door. I’m allergic and pretty sensitive to mold and my body can tell when I’m around it. We’ve had no issues.
This is badass..... I'm gonna be doing this to my bath for sho
Awesome. Glad you liked it.
Artistic perfection!
Thank you!
Hey bud I've been working on my shower forever now and getting down to the painting or staining process. I was just wondering what kind of paint you used.
I use high acrylic exterior paints.
