Love doing things alone, it’s sad how so many people feel uncomfortable doing stuff like that. I always go to the cinema alone etc and people think I am so brave ??? I am literally just watching a film 🧍🏻♀️
OMG THIS, happens to me too lol! I just be thinking I want to see movie and don't want to drag people along to something they don't personally want to see lol?? It is also such an odd take being no one can see you at the movies lol! But I be doing it everywhere and people reactions are just downright odd?? But I know they are just projecting their own insecurities onto me 🤷♀️ I feel bad for them and wish someday they will have the freedom with in themselves to do it too. Sorry for such a long reply, I just be seeing your comment and had thoughts lol 😅
BRO cinema is the shit alone, i havent gotten comments there yet but at an amusement park the guy working there was like "youre going on this ride alone?? noone else, just you??" Like bro just gimme the goggles and let me get on wtf. idk if he thought i looked too young but i mustve been 18 and he let me get in the cart right after without even asking my age so prob just thought im a sad loner lmao.
I honestly like to do things 90% of things alone!! I just went to a music festival on my own last week and afterward felt a bit bad because I think some of my friends would probably have liked to come but I just thought honestly I’d rather be alone, just wander around and not have to worry about anyone else lol!!
As someone who dealt with severe anxiety, my old self would find you a true warrior. Being alone in a cinema can put a lot of pressure because you feel like you're like an animal caught in a box. I did my first cinema alone 3 years ago, my biggest challenge more than going alone to a quick meat outside, to see a movie about depression and true loneliness lol. I would have loved that someone congrats me of being brave, my friend did😂
until recently, id never went anywhere alone just because i wasnt used to it and felt it would be uncomfortable, but im getting better at it now and it's really nice to be able to take your time and enjoy yourself! it was also fun to feel like we were shopping together and i definitely see a pattern in the types of clothes you seem to gravitate towards haha, personally i think you should get one of the pastel gingham dresses they were sooo cute!
Of all the stuff you said you liked, I’d say get the white skirt because it will go with EVERYTHING and you’d get heaps of use out of it, and the gingham dresses with the collar at the end were super cute!! I think the coral or the mint would be adorable on you 💕
7:47 THEY'RE PLAYING "ICY" BY ITZY IN THE CAFE! Mikan, I LOVE when you film all the streets as you're walking between shops. The scenery is so lovely, all the cute little side streets with something interesting every way you turn and even all the big, busy roads with flashing signs. I want to screenshot every clip to use as drawing references. :)
Funny thing that Mikan pointed out the link between mental illness and compulsive shopping, cuz I too have a little bit of shopping addiction myself mainly with clothes( my lolita sock collection is quite impressive even with my low-ish income .....LoL😂) and I have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia . But at this moment with the clothes I am in a strict "only-what-I-reallyreally-want" diet here🤗🤗🙋♀️
Weighing in on things to buy, from my experience a blouse that ties at the neck is a staple that goes with anything, they're my most commonly worn blouses. They layer well and can work for both cute daily outfits or can be dressed up easily if you need to look professional/grown up. But if the fabric is crisp/stiff don't get it since it would need to be ironed and will feel stiff to wear. Also that white skirt could definitely be a good staple as long as it isn't sheer. Also what can help to cut back on shopping without feeling restrictive, from a fellow impulse shopper: you can look at things but put them down and if you're still thinking about it in a few days or a week then go back for it. It doesn't feel quite like a restriction since it isn't a hard no and it helps you to only buy things that really capture your attention. Similarly for clothes or accessories, I mentally try to make an outfit with things I already have. If I can't do that then I lean towards no. You also did really well with checking the sizes on those shoes! Checking the size on something first before you let yourself fall in love can really help avoid heartache/convincing yourself that you'll deal with something that doesn't actually fit.
I thought the cafe looked like a korean style cafe and then I heard the korean songs and I was like: Oh they're really going for that vibe. I've been seeing the thick cardigan in your posts a lot and I love it a lot. Also, guuurl, I think your hands are absolutely pretty! I drew them once in my sketchbook bcs I liked a picture from your Insta story many weeks ago where you were holding a cup :D The clothes are so pretty! I can't find anything interesting where I live but omg no wonder it's so hard to resist!! Does someone have the names of the first clothing store and the cafe?
Whaaat I can't believe Don Don Down is permanently closed! I really enjoyed shopping there and I was looking forward to visit it again once I returned to Japan :( Loved the vlog, as always ~ 💕
I'm bipolar and really have to fight against compulsive shopping myself! If you buy anything just go back and buy the white skirt since you can pair with things you already have for multiple looks.
there's nothing like having a date with yourself and shopping by yourself, because you only need to care and be attuned to your OWN needs and wants, and do things at your pace 😊
for the warmer weather cardigan thing, i really recommend looking for cotton specifically, it's a breathable natural material so it's more comfy! as for dresses, while the pink gingham one looks super cute to me >.< i would rather say something general like if it fills a gap in your wardrobe that was bothering you, then go for it! i also have issues with impulsive buying things, i started telling myself things like what if something i really love shows up later but i spent all my money on this? and i feel like that helps me a lot.
An easy and pretty effective method I use to put a leash on my spending habits is asking myself ‘do I like it or love it?’ If I like it then I pass (especially if it’s expensive), but if I love it then I buy it. You can add another layer to this method by asking yourself ‘do I want it or need it?’ There is very much a difference between the two. But yeah, you could give it a try and see if it helps!
This dress is the one that caught my eye, it's so pretty 15:28 It's great that you are being intentional about what you buy, I'm trying to get a handle on impulse buying as well, it's always been a form of anxiety relief but it's not a good habit for me (especially for my wallet😭) I think it's a smart idea to wait awhile and see if you still really want the item, I'll definitely be trying that
The black frilly dress on the mannequin and that white skirt are THE CUTEST!! I would go back for those personally, especially that white skirt. I have also been looking for a cute white skirt for the longest!!💖
I LOVE that blouse. So glad you got it! Since you've been thinking about getting that white blouse and white skirt for a while, I think you should get them. My advice is go for the items that are "needed" in your wardrobe (like the spring cardigan you were looking for) and the ones that you may not need but really love!
I'm definitely a compulsive shopper myself. I think living in a country where my style isn't common makes it easy for me to not compulsively buy clothes in person (online is a different story), but in Japan I'd be so weak, all the stuff you showed is so cute! Personally I'd get the blue gingham, however the red version looked soo cute on you and really suits you!
OH, and mikaaan !! Try to buy things that you can use in SOOO many ways, example is a little shirt that you can layer or use a kind of thin jacket for summer, THAT"S BE SOO CUUTEE OMMLLL, i can imagine you wearing this cute frilly white dress, in a white and hints of yellow kind of a daisy theme and a cute little shirt coat that is tied with a knot and a cute hat and CUTE CHUNKY SHOES GAAAAAh, i'm going crazy i can go on HAHAHAHA but i think you're doing great with the restrictions and all with yourself when it comes to shopping
I have a clothes shopping addiction too, but recently I’ve been trying to clean out my closet and be more mindful of getting clothes I will actually wear ;-;
Love that you're trying to be more conscious of your shopping habits! I definitely struggled with shopping addiction for a long time, and managed to get out of it with a bit of work :) if you want to shop (for clothing and shoes anyway) then second hand is a good option at least, and Tokyo is great for thrifting! I love your hair like that btw, and that cafe looked so beautiful! I think Don Don Down on Wednesday is still open in Koenji! I don't know if there are other branches, but I remember that one is in the shotengai not far from the station :) Koenji overall has such good thrift stores! In Shibuya I always liked Bingo :)
I have learnt to love clothes. Like you love an outfit so much that you don't mind re-wearing them a lot. That saves me so much money because I love shopping
Gosh i loved this video - alone time and shopping decisions haha! I think the gingham dresses and white skirt are the top choices for me! I think you’ll look good in it! And also yes it’s so hard to resist coz I always tell myself shop when needed but once I start buying something it’s so hard to stop unless I’m busy or I don’t think of it that much. Haha
I can relate your words about being proud/happy to wear nice outfits just for myself even when I am not seeing anyone, I guess spring make it easier, I love winter but sometimes warm clothes need more colors and details that make prettier ^^
I have anxiety and PTSD, but I would love to be able to do this kind of thing one day! I'm very jealous. I hear Japan is still not open to tourists yet? I'm hoping to go in 2024 for the first time. You have very cute style too, btw!
The prime minister hinted that Japan would be open for tourism this June but official announcements of border opening (for tourism) have not been out yet
I've been so busy with college lately, but I'm finally able to see your videos again, as always, they are so cute and I love how you show us japan and all the cute clothes.
How I started cutting down on "stuff" and shopping too much was that I took inventory of what I already had then set a limit for myself for how much of that item I'm allowed to have. If I want even 1 more, then I'll have to get rid of 1 to make space for it. You also have to take into consideration not only the price of the item you want but if you will definitely wear it instead of just wanting to have it because you like it, and if it goes with other things in your wardrobe to where you can definitely make a few different outfits with it.
OMG you need to get the white skirt! It's so cuteeee! Also that blouse with the big bow you said you've been looking for one for a long time! Also I love your videos!
@@JessJP522 a themed cafe bc Connor would hate it, Chris would love Connor hating it, and mikan would think it's cute. I'm not familiar enough with the others to make an informed opinion
that white skirt is such a good staple piece to have since your blouses are always colorful so get it! Other than that, everything else is also super freakin cute so get them too. BUY NOW, REGRET LATER AHHAHAHA!.

Hi Mikan, I noticed your dilemma. I would recommend getting 100% merino wool clothes. It was a massive game-changer for me. It keeps you warm in the winter but fresh in the summer! So you can wear those clothes all the year-round, so it is very sustainable :) They are expensive, but usually, I find excellent discounts and it is better to have one expensive good quality always ready-to-go piece than several cheaper ones. My favourite brand is icebreaker. They have simple designs and kinda sporty. Neverthless, I am sure there are cuter brands :)
I would love to see a capsule wardrobe vid. It would be interesting to see what you still have and how you style different things with just a few pieces
I definitely relate to not wearing rings! I just think they're really uncomfortable and I'd probably only wear my wedding ring (If I get married) on special occasions
WAAAIIIT I ALSO LOVED THAT THRIFT STORE NOOOOOOOOOO also !! i have taken a new rule to shopping! if I have any hesitation at all, that means there's something mildly imperfect about the clothing piece and i don't buy it. If i know i want it, i'll know right away and make the decision with full confidence, but if i even feel 10% like it might not work in the way i want it to then I just put it back!!

I definitely relate to not wearing rings! I just think they're really uncomfortable and I'd probably only wear my wedding ring (If I get married) on special occasions
AAAAA this is so sweeeeettt, i love these kind of videos mikannn, stay safe i lub youu
i love your videos so much❤️❤️💗💗❤️💗 thank you for uploading
love how Icy by Itzy was playing in the background 🥺that definitely isn't a thing in America
WAAAIIIT I ALSO LOVED THAT THRIFT STORE NOOOOOOOOOO
also !! i have taken a new rule to shopping! if I have any hesitation at all, that means there's something mildly imperfect about the clothing piece and i don't buy it. If i know i want it, i'll know right away and make the decision with full confidence, but if i even feel 10% like it might not work in the way i want it to then I just put it back!!
Such a perfect date! Love all the kitty clips!
Polka dot dress is really cute.♡
7:45 icy by itzy! One of my favorite itzy songs
I think if you do get ONE thing, it should be the dress at 14:54 just because it'd be a good variety to a lot of the shorter dresses you have already.
Love the vibes! I must set a date with myself soon.
Love the hair pains!! And all the dresses ♥️
ITZY IS PLAYING IN THE BACKROUND AT THE CAFE AHHHHHHHHH 7:50
