I have extra Tupperware lids ( who doesn’t ) I throw one on the ground to put my bow cam on. Saves it from getting wet or dirty.
These videos are great for this novice. I love all the accessories in archery. It’s just like gun accessories! What took me so long to get to archery?!?!😜🇺🇸
1. Bow
2. String
3. Arrows
4. Tab
5. Target
Excellent Video and explanation of Bow Accessories. Keep them Coming! Always appreciate your commentary!
Always enjoy and appreciate your videos . Keep up the good work. Your passion and knowledge comes thru .
Thank you for the kind words, Wayne!
Another must have if building your own arrows is an arrow squaring device of some kind.
Man I'm the only hunter in my family, friends are not either...so you can imagine...
Self thought since 6 years ago, nothing but rifle hunting,2 weeks ago I decided to buy a bow and get on the big Man's hunting, never shoot a bow before in my life...
First shot and I smoke my forearm with the string and hit the door of the chicken house...what did I got myself into lol. So much different info out there that is just overwhelming... like the way you explain things, clear and straightforward, hopefully I will get good at every aspect in archery. I'm 31 years old and I'm loving the challenge, proof that never is too late!
My most useful items:
I made a wooden bow cradle, so I put my bow into it and its not skidding around the desk when Im trying to work on my bow. It even makes string waxing easier.
Bow master.
I also use a Pine Ridge Kwik stand.
I use the bohning 'green' silicone string wax ... According to the Bohning website.. The red wax is for recurve, the green is for compound.
I have more than 1 of each multitool, and a box of metric and imperial tools. It never hurts to have too many tools :-)
Serving and D-Loop material.
Stick of hotmelt
Knock turning tool.
Love my arrow spinner!
Love this advise
Agreed on the arrow spinner and bow square, misses those out.
But in the field or outside I'd rather put my bow on the side than on the stand because in the field it wouldn't stand and in the backyard or so the last part I want the bow to collect dust and sand are the cams. Plus one time I adjusted my sights kneeling, the bow on the cam on concrete and it immediately scratched all the color off the cam, even worse it roughened up the cam's edges which then might injure the string.
#11 bow vice. I would hate to be working on bows without one, plus I'm too reckless without one lol
Bow. String. Arrow. Glove. Target range.
Great video Jack. The one thing I found about the viper d-loop plyers was if you put nock sets on then your d-loop, the plyers aren't wide enough for the width.
Average Jack, great vid. as a beginner, its nice to know what some essentials are. Also, do you think you could make a video explaining how to use a t-square to tie on a dloop? Like you said, a lot of people are using the levels and that requires a bow vise and all that, unfortunately I do not have a bow vise and do not want to spend the money on one. Unfortunately, most videos that I have found online explaining how to tie a dloop use the levels so I have no idea how to use a t-square. If you could make a video on that, that would be awesome. Anyways, thanks for the awesome content!
Great idea, thank you!
#6 a bow press!!!! You may not be able to afford a LCA EZ Green, but something as simple as a bowmaster bow press or a synunm bow press will work since they are both portable. This way you will be able to make all repairs needed at the comfort of your own home, or at a range not near a shop.
#7(if possible) a second set of strings and cables. This mainly applies to hunters as broadheads in a case can cut your current string and make it unusable. This also goes along with the bow press as you can do it immediately when you need to. A local shop may not have a set for your bow on hand and it will take a while to make a new set, especially during hunting season.
I wish arrow spinners were that cheap in Canada. They typically go for double that. I've been batting around building one.
1 A bow
2 The proper bow string
3 Correct arrows
4 A selection of field points and broadheads, if you gonna hunt.
5a For compound bow a release.
5b While not required, a tab or archery glove is really nice to have for recurve and longbows.
A place to shoot is also really good to have.
What did I miss?
Something to shoot at...lol
Should list this as compound archery bow string wax square serving and the arrow spinner are all that pertain to trad archery maybe hex keys if you shoot ilf
I’m having a crazy hard time with my bow hand grip, any chance you can do a video on how to hold a bow and how to get into the correct hand position?
ThaReal CLo excellent recommendation!
Great 👍 tips Jack ..T U
I DONT KNOW WHAT TOOK SO LONG ,BUT I JUST FINALLY SUBBED MY BROTHER !

@Average Jack Archery what's your thoughts on upgrading the string roller guide on your bow? I'm willing to bet it would extend the life of your bow strings. I know it's the first thing I recommend to anyone who isn't buying a higher end bow.
My biggest areas of wear in terms of needing replacement are actually around cam modules. This is also true of the vast majority of bows I work on in the shop as well. Regardless of the utilization of a roller guard, it's usually the cam modules causing serving separation long before the center of my cables wear out due to the slide.
@@averagejackarchery Makes complete sense, the highest stress point on the string comes from the cam or cams depending on if you are shooting single or dual cams. I do know with the new muzzy lvx the roller is a must if you want any life out of your string, No cams!
What about a bow vise for setting your second and third axis?
As someone who has spent a lot of time working on many customers' bows, many people don't even know what that is let alone how to adjust it. But I definitely know what you're saying! A leveled sight is truly a great thing to have, especially for elevated shots from treestands/saddles.
So how do you use a spinner to check for bd.hd. squareness? If it wobbles, do you take the insert out and out new one in? Very confused
Ya man try a new insert then try a different broadhead then tey spinning the insert 1/4 turns still no dice square the end of the arrow.
I have a friend that likes to do all that stuff and he likes beer
Jim Field best kind of friends to have!!
imagine using 100' of Dloop?? Thanks Average Jack im loving your vids
Challenge accepted.
His grandkids will never run out of d loop material 😂
You should put compound in the title.
I thought number one was going to be arrows
what is the D loop brand??
Bcy 24.
Uh...I’m missing more of those “must have” items than I care to admit.
Hahaha!
Where can I get a Public Land Owner shirt?
Join your local state's chapter of Backcountry Bowhunters and Anglers (BHA)! Or, just buy it from their website. But joining a great cause is worth it too.
@@averagejackarchery thank you for the reply. I'll look into that. Good hunting.
So.....stick your bottom cam in the dirt?
